Anant Dev comes to Mumbai with the passion to be a playback singer. His struggle begins quite favourably with a supporting friend, a place to stay, a charming well-wisher and a world full of opportunities. However, over six months Anant realises that achieving success is not going to be an easy task.
His savings run dry, so does his hope…and just as he is on the brink of frustration, he gets his first big break – a chance to sing for a new album. However, his joy is short-lived; the opportunity passes on to a celebrity singer. Shunned, dejected, furious, he decides to produce his own album, but will he be able to raise the money? Will anyone help him? To what length would he go to make his dream come true? Would he sacrifice his honour, or compromise on his true passion?
During his struggle he has come across several characters – Akka, his grumpy old land lady; Nene, the quirky neighbour, searching for dignity in lottery tickets; Nene’s charming niece Revati, who knows the difference between friendship and marriage; the veteran musician Usmaan who believes art is life; his friend Babya who hopes to have a house of his own in Mumbai; the social worker Prasad who believes in a bright future for society; and the music composer Chandan who has figured out that the only way to survive is by adapting to change.
Everyone he meets is on a quest to achieve something…and all those who meet Anant, contribute in some way to the grit that Anant needs in life…It is for Anant to realise that this is the true taste of struggling for your passion…and while you strive hard, Paulwaat is that little pathway that accompanies you on the way to your dreams.
