‘Ganapati Bappa Morya’ – Mahesh Kothare’s new offering on Colors Channel

Ganpati Bappa Morya, Marathi Serial, Ganesha
‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’

After achieving success through his Super hit mythological serial ‘Jai Malhar’ on Zee Marathi, Producer director Mahesh Kothare is now all set to offer his next mythological serial ‘Ganapati Bappa Morya’, which will be telecast this time on Colors Marathi channel. This will be much bigger project, cost wise, than the previous serial, as the set cost of this serial has touched around 1.75 Crore. Even otherwise, while offering a serial based on mythology, there is lot of cost on art design, costumes and special effects and the well known film maker, has accepted all these challenges. Having gained a lot of experience through ‘Jai Malhar’, this time, we expect something big from him.

‘Ganapati Bappa Morya’ will be telecast from Tuesday 24th November 2015 at 8.30 pm from Monday to Saturday. Since, this serial is based on mythology ,with more emphasis on Mother –son relationship, it will be interesting to see the events involving Parvati and Ganesha. With women and children likely to shift to this serial, Zee Marathi’s ‘Majhe Pati Soubhagyavati’ will face a tough competition, at prime time 8.30 pm.

Actually, this serial witnesses overacting from Vaibhav Mangle, especially in his original male appearance, in all those scenes of excessive drinking in the company of friends and later abusing others. Even otherwise, Vaibhav Mangle taking his hair dresser for granted, to use her house, for his change over, that too in absence of her husband, looks odd and unconvincing.

Incidentally, Colors have also started an entertaining reality show for housewives, ‘Aamchya Gharaat Suunbai Joraat’, anchored by Harish Dudhade (‘Majhe Mann Tujhe Jhale’ fame). With new team games for housewives, the show is likely to compete with Aadesh Bhauji’s ‘Home Minister’ on Zee Marathi. After dismal show in the initial episodes, their comedy show ‘Aali Lahar kela kahar’ seem to have shown some improvisation, taking up the local issues of Mumbaikars and especially Marathi people, through the skits in the recent episodes. But, in ‘Asa Sasar Surekh Bai’, they need to include some interesting happenings, rather than stretching on the problems faced by Yash’s uncle and his family. But, the saving grace of this serial is Mrunal Dusanis, whose presence on the screen, makes the viewers happy.

It is better not to talk much about ‘Star Pravah’ serials. It is high time, they replace their old serials, with outdated subjects with new offerings. Now, they are also facing competition from  who have also started showing serials on social issues with better subjects, that too at prime time. And, we have already covered them last time.

Movie Review by: Ulhas Shirke

At a time, when we are finding innovative themes taken up by Marathi films; Some of our Marathi film makers seem to be still believing in the traditional track of comedy, to play safe. They don’t dare to attempt something out of the box. Latest Marathi film ‘Khara Saangu Khota khota’ falls into this category. So, we have a young boy and a young girl Dushyant and Yashashree from the same village; and studying in the same college in a town. To present this traditional love story, it is needless to say that their parents are traditional political rivals, living in the neighborhood and always trying to prove their supremacy over each other, during every important event in the village.

Dushyant and Yashashree come closer during their journey back home, with a halt at Nani Saranjame’s house; when they find their accommodation by posing themselves as married couple. Actual fun begins, when they return home . Director Sanjeev Naik has chosen this humour filled plot, based on Ramchandra Sadekar’s novel ‘Tuza Majha Zamena’ to find suitable artistes to play the important characters in this film. So, besides presenting the new pair of dashing Analesh Desai and Pretty Trishala Shah in this musical entertainer, he has opted for versatile artistes like Ashok Saraf and Sayaji Shinde to play the traditional rivals- Dhadalgaonkar & Dhandle Patil respectively. To add further flavour of comedy, he has rightly chosen Nirmiti Sawant to play the commanding role of Nani Saranjame, a spinster, who runs a match making enterprise.

The sole purpose of this film has been to offer non stop entertainment, with the limited characters, providing good support with their performances. The film has good music as its plus point, for which Shrirang Aras deserves a pat. One more plus point is good photography bt Manjunath B Nayaka, who has captured some songs at outdoor locations and the fun filled climax scene very well.
Khara Saangu Khota Khota
All the three senior artistes, who are well versed with comedy, have tried their best to generate instant humour with their perfect understanding, during all those scenes of confrontation in the screenplay. But, still they had to satisfy themselves, with the space extended to their characters. The chemistry of new pair of Analesh and Trishala has worked well, considering the comedy setting of the film. There are no scenes to really exploit their acting talents. Hemangi Velankar and Deepjyoti offer good support; but the other few character artistes in the film, fail to impress. They look very artificial. Even the tourist bus scene looks very outdated. The director should have tried something new, to bring the young couple together.

The screenplay of ‘Khara Saangu Khota khota’ could have been more interesting, had there been more interesting happenings, like the one noticed in the climax. It is a simple plot, to generate humour, without any vulgarity noticed. The pace of the film is also properly maintained by editing experts. Songs and music are timed well, in the screenplay. But, still you feel that there should have been more fun, in the company of the three veteran artistes. And hence, ‘Khara Saangu Khota khota’ has turned out to be just a customary musical entertainer for the entire family.

‘Khara Saangu Khota Khota’ all set to release on 20th Dec 2013

khara sanguo khot khota

Two great actors from Marathi film industry Ashok Saraf and Sayaji Shinde are all set to confront each other from 20th December 2013, through new Marathi film ‘Khara Sangoo Khota Khota’. Needless to say that it will be a non stop comedy film, in the company of Marathi’s Queen of Comedy Nirmiti Sawant. In this film, both Ashok Saraf and Sayaji Shinde are playing traditional rivals Dhandalgaonkar and DhandlePatil resp, living in the neighbourhood in the same village. Always wanting to prove their supremacy in the village, both of them are in for a surprise; when they come to know that their grown up children, studying in the same college of the nearest city, fall in love with each other.

To add further twist to their love story, in comes a spinster matchmaker Nani Saranjame,to add more flavour to this fun filled recipe cooked by the youngsters Dushyant and Yashashree, played by Analesh Desai and Trishala Shah. Based on the novel ‘Tujha majha Zamena’ written by Ramchandra Sadekar, the film is directed by Sanjeev Naik. The film is a musical action comedy, with four melody filled songs penned by Aarti Desai and composed by evergreen Shrirang Aras.

The film’s beautiful locations at Mumbai, Wai, Satara, Mahabaleshwar and Konkan have been captured by cinematographer Manjunath B Nayaka, with perfect editing by Sanjeev Nayaka and Umesh Rane. Hemangi Velankar and Deepjyoti naik play supporting roles in this film, which is produced by Sarav Films and presented by Abhiruchi Films.

On the sets of ‘Mother’s Day- Ek Diwas Aaicha’

We have heard many stories on Mother and child relationship. Over the years, in a country like India there is a tradition to treat mother like a God, since she gives birth to a child. There is a say in Marathi, “One may rule the Universe, but in absence of a mother, that person is vagabond.” Inspired by the story of Bollywood and south film director – Raju Subramaniam (Zakhme Di’ and ‘kanyadan’ fame) Producer Hemant Dabhade decided to make a Marathi film suitably titled ‘Mother’s Day- Ek Diwas Aaicha’.

Shooting of this film was in progress at Future Studio, Goregaon, when director Raju Subramaniam picturised some important emotion filled scenes on Tuesday 5th July 2011. The new lead pair Analesh Desai and Avantika Salian took part in the full day shooting alongwith supporting artistes Yatin Karyekar , Illa Bhate and others. Arun Nalawde is also part of this film playing the father of Avantika, while Yatin Karyekar plays the father of Analesh in the film.

“This is a story of a boy who is adopted by a couple from Malaysia from an Orphanage in India. When the boy grows up, he comes in search of his biological mother and
even takes his posting in India. He meets Avantika in his office and with the help of her father he seeks legal help to meet his real mother and questions her as to why she deserted him. I liked this theme and felt that I should make a Marathi film on this subject. It is for the first time that a Marathi film will be shot in Malaysia and we are going there for our final schedule,” said Producer Hemant Dabhade.

Director Raju Subramaniam was excited about this film which is based on his own story and being his debut into Marathi, he was trying to be a perfectionist while taking every shot. “I have been born and brought up in Mumbai and it is my Janmabhoomi as well as Karmabhoomi. I have done films in Hindi , Tamil and Telugu; but now I am interested in making films in other Indian languages. After this Marathi film, I am doing a Gujarathi film. Having been associated with theatre personalities like Jaidev Hattangadi and others, I believed in only one religion and one language i.e film making. I want to make such films that I should be remembered even after I leave this world,” he said.
