‘Goshta Eka Paithanichi’, ‘June’ & ‘Mee Vasantrao’ to receive national awards

This year’s best Marathi film national award will be presented to ‘Goshta Eka Paithanichi’ directed by Shantanu Rode and starring Sayali Sanjeev and Suvrat Joshi in lead roles. Overwhelmed by this award for her film, actress Sayali Sanjeev said that she had put in lot of efforts in her role and therefore was happy that her film bagged national award. She said that she was dedicating this award to her father.

Siddharth Menon who played the lead role in Marathi film ‘June’ has been awarded Best actor Special Jury mention award. This has come as the biggest gift for Suiddharth who feels that his dream has been fulfilled. He said that he was dedicating his award to the entire team of ‘June’. This film is directed by Surhud Godbole and Vaibhav Khisti and written by Nikhil Mahajan. Both these films have been produced by Planet Marathi.

Another Marathi film ‘Me Vasantrao’ invited all the attention, as this film bagged two national awards. Best playback singer award for this film was declared for Rahul Deshpande, while best sound recording award for this film was declared for Anmol Bhave. Director of this film Nipun Dharmadhikari expressed his happiness on this achievement and said that music was the soul of this film.

 The story of the film has been penned by Milind Shinde , besides playing a very vital role in this issue based film along with the poet Kishore Kadam.   ‘Kathputli Colony’ tells the story of a village, homes and our neighbors etc.  besides focusing on discipline. Throwing some light on the subject of his film, director Daya Saagar Wankhede says , “Milind has written such a beautiful story that the moment I watched it, I felt like I should immediately make a film based on it. The audience will be able to watch a realistic film which sets out to tackle aesthetically a major issue.”  Dayasagar also emphasized that  each and every cinegoer will identify himself or herself with the issue highlighted in ‘Kathputli Colony’ .

Marathi film ‘Dil Dimag aur Batti’ to release on 22nd April

Sa Creations Marathi film ‘Dil Dimag aur Batti’ is all set for release on 22nd April in theatres all over Maharashtra. Recently, poster of this film was released on social media, inviting the attention of film lovers. This multi starrer film poster reminds you of 80s and 90s period. Moreover, the unusual tagline of this film says, “Aaj Tak Filmo mein 3 bhai bichade the, lekin un mein Bahan kabhi nahi thi.” ( Which means that till now you have seen three brothers separating, but there was no sister among them.)

Wriiten and directed by Hrishikesh Gupte ‘Dil Dimag aur Batti’ has a strong star cast comprising of Sonali Kulkarni, Dilip Prabhavalkar, Vandana Gupte, Pushkar Shrotri, Kishore Kadam, Anand Ingale, Vaibhav Mangale, Sagar Sant, Mayuresh Pem, Sanskruti Balgude, Sakhi Gokhale, Pushkaraj Chirputkar, Revati Limaye, Meghana Erande, Sanjay Kulkarni and  Vinit Bhonde. Avadhoot Gupte has composed the music of this film on the lyrics of Hrishikesh Gupte with cinematography by Salil Sahasrabudhe.

The second schedule of ‘Awanchit’ extends to other parts of Kolkatta

Many a times locations of the film play a very important role in giving a realistic look to the film, especially when the story of the film is based in that region. In order to present the culture of West Bengal through their Marathi film, Bengali film makers Producer Pritam Choudhary and director Shubho Basu after completing the first schedule of their film’s (Awanchit) shoot in North Kolkatta’s Lahabadi and different Cafeteria and Oligo in South Kolkatta, they will now move to capture scenic beauty of some parts of Kolkatta in their second schedule of shooting which begins from 7th November.

Perhaps, the makers expect to give boost to tourism to West Bengal by covering such beautiful locations. Through many Bollywood films of the past we have seen stories of Bengali writers and have also seen the Bengali culture. Also, many Bengalee artistes have been part of Bollywood in the past. But now, our Marathi film lovers will get to see the Bengali culture through forthcoming Marathi film ‘Awanchit’, for which Bengalee and Marathi talent are working together for the first time.

The shooting of this film is going on at present in old and new Kolkatta city. The film presents the story of father and son with their widening relationship due to death of mother. Though the artistes of this film are Marathi, those behind the screen are Bangalee artistes. While producer Pritam has produced number of Bengalee films for the past 22 years, director Shubho Basu who is experienced in editing work for past two decades, will be making her debut as director in Marathi films.

‘Ganvesh’ fame producer-director Atul Jagadale is the cinematographer and creative producer of this film , who will play a proper connect between the Bengalee and Marathi artistes. Highlight of this film is that Poet turned actor Kishore Kadam will be seen in a different role. The film stars young pair of Abhay Mahajan and Mrunmayee Godbole along with Marathi artistes Dr. Mohan Agashe, Mrunal Kulkarni, Suhas Joshi, Yogesh Soman and Bengali actor Barun Chanda in lead role.

The film’s story is based on original story of director Shubho Basu while the screenplay and dialogues are penned by Yogesh Joshi. Lyrics by Omkar Kulkarni and music by bengali music director Anupam Roy are other credits.

Kishore Kadam to play comedy role in forthcoming film ‘Wagherya’

Known for his extraordinary performances in serious roles in many awards winning Marathi films in the past, Kishore Kadam has also established himself as a superb character actor with lots of potentials through many Hindi films. But, no Marathi filmmaker has tried him in a comedy role to exploit his full potential. However, in forthcoming Marathi film, ‘Wagherya’ will present him in a comedy role that too in the rurally based subject. Generally noticed as a poor laborer wearing dhoti and baniyan, this time Kishore Kadam will be seen in a safari suit.

Speaking about this role, Kishore Kadam says, “This is a different type of film and after a long time a comedy subject is being presented through this film. I really enjoyed working with all renowned artists , many of whom are my old friends.” Written and directed by Sameer Asha Patil, the film also stars Bharat Ganeshpure, Hrishikesh Joshi, Suhas Palshikar, Kishore Chougule, Leena Bhagwat & Chhaya Kadam. On 18th May this film will be arriving at cinema halls to entertain the audience during this summer vacation.

Poetry has always played an important role in Marathi literature. In many Marathi films in the past, we have seen reference of important happenings in the film’s story through poems. Even in Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan is known for narrating poems. In the forthcoming Marathi film ‘Braveheart well known poet and actor Kishore Kadam also known as Saumitra, has narrated one such poem in his own voice, which is a tribute to film’s brave hero Nikhil.

The meaningful poem is written lyricist Shrikant Bojewar, who has also written the screenplay and dialogues of ‘Braveheartfilm. Produced by Sachhidanand Karkhanis and Santosh Mokashi, the film is directed by Dasbabu.
