का कळेना कोणत्या क्षणी हरवते मन कसे
Ka Kalena Konatya Kshani Haravate Man Kase
उमलती कशा धुंद भावना अल्लद वाटे कसे
Umalati Kashya Dhund Bhavana Allad Vate Kase
बंध जुळती हे प्रीतीचे गोड नाते हे जन्मांतरीचे
Bandh Julati He Preetiche God Nate He Janmantariche

एक मी एक तू , शब्द मी गीत तू
Ek Me Ek Tu, Shabda Me Geet Tu
आकाश तू, आभास तू सार्‍यात तू
Aakash Tu, Abhas Tu Saryaat Tu
ध्यास मी श्वास तू , स्पर्श मी मोहोर तू
Dhyas Me Shwas Tu, Sparsh Me Mohar Tu
स्वप्नात तू सत्यात तू सार्‍यात तू …
Swapnat Tu Satyat Tu Saryaat Tu …

पंख लावूनी उडत चालले मन हे तुझ्या सवे
Pankh Lavuni Udat Chalale Mann He Tuzyasave
तुझा मी माझी तू , कधी केव्हा कसे जुळले बंध हे
Tuza Mi Mazi Tu, Kadhi Kenvha Kase Julale Bandh He
अबोल प्रीत हि, हे नाते नवे
Abol Preet Hi, He Nate Nave
अजब रीत हि, स्वप्न नवे
Ajab Reet Hi, Swapna Nave

घडले कसे कधी , कळते न जे कधी
Ghadale Kase Kadhi, Kalate Na Je Kadhi
हळुवार ते आले कसे ओठावरी
Haluvar Te Aale Kase Othavari
दे ना तू साथ दे , हातात हात दे
Dena Tu Saath De, Hatat Hath De

नजरेतला नजरेतुनी इकरार घे
Najaretala Najaretuni Ikarar Ghe

का कळेना कोणत्या क्षणी हरवते मन कसे
Ka Kalena Konatya Kshani Haravate Man Kase

Shooting for ‘Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai’ sequel to begin

Mumbai pune mumbai, Lagnala yaychach ‘Mumbai Pune Mumbai’ was a runaway hit a few years ago. It helped Swwapnil Joshi to find his base in Marathi films, after working in hindi television shows. Through this film, Mukta Barve once again proved her mettle as a splendid performer. Though Mukta is not visible on screen these days, Swwapnil has become a sought after star, of Marathi films.
Satish Rajwade, who directed ‘Mumbai Pune Mumbai’, wanted to make sequel of the same, for quite some time now. Almost five years have passed after the release of ‘Mumbai Pune Mumbai’, but, it was getting delayed due to various reasons. Now, it seems he is all ready to roll the sequel and will start the shooting soon. He wants the complete team of the original film on board this time too, like Mirah Entertainment, Director of photography Suhas Gujrati, Music duo Avinash-Vishwajit, Editor Rajesh Rao, co-writer Parag Kulkarni, all technicians, and even the spot boys.

The sequel will be called ‘Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai-2′ with a tagline … ‘Lagnala Yayachach’. The makers are targeting for a Diwali release. One thing for sure, superstition does prevail in entertainment world!

Satish Rajwade, Director

“I select my artistes as per the requirement of the role “- Satish Rajwade

With successful Marathi movies like ‘Mrugjal’, ‘Ek Daav Dhobi Pachaad’, ‘Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai’ and ‘Gaiir’ director Satish Rajwade made his presence felt with the creativity offered through these films. His work as a director was also well received through TV serials like ‘Avantika’ and ‘Agnihotra’. Now, we find him directing a new serial ‘Guntata Hriday Hey’ with a different subject on Zee Marathi. This serial is being shown at 10.30 pm; but, that does not matter when Satish Rajwade is directing it.

Satish Rajwade, DirectorAn actor turned director, who has in the past assisted Govind Nihalani, is today a big name in Marathi TV and film industry. He is known to handle the subject well and his presentation does leave that desired impact on the audience. Marathi Movie World spoke to Satish Rajwade and this is what the young dynamic director has to say:

Q: You are known to be very selective about the subject, before taking up a film. Is it so ?
A: Yes, I am selective about the subject, as it is the script that I should be comfortable with, for presentation.

Q: What are the projects you have in hand today ?
A: I am directing a film ‘Makadachya Haati Champagne’ which is in post production stage and now involved with this new serial of Zee Marathi- ‘Guntata Hriday Hey’.

Q: What is this film ‘Makadachya Haati Champagne’ all about ?
A: This film is based on a popular Marathi play with this title and it will have good humour.

Q: Do you think that Marathi films based on popular dramas do well at the box office ?
A: It is better to make films based on good quality dramas, in absence of good scripts.

Q: As a director how do you get the work done from your actors, especially those who are new ?
A: I just ask them to behave natural, during the scene.

Q: While selecting the cast of the film or serial, do you make the choice yourself or somebody else does this job?
A: I myself do the selection of the artistes.

Q: But, it is said that you only select the best ones?
A: No, that is not so. I select my artistes as per the requirement of role and the characters they are required to play. A particular artiste should perfectly fit into that role.

Movie Review by: Ulhas Shirke

A young modern girl dressed in Long Red skirt and white top (Let us call her Ms. Mumbai) moves all alone from Mumbai to Pune just to select her would be, on the request of her Mother. After passing from one junction to other searching for the address, she finally lands at the destination point, where some boys are playing gully cricket. She selects none other than the batsman (Let us call him Mr. Pune) to know exact location of the house; and as a result of which he is clean bowled. The young man (Dressed in Bermuda shorts, an overcoat and sports shoes) however directs her to the location but to her surprise, the door is locked. Ms. Mumbai is unable to contact the concerned person, as her cell phone battery is down. So, she proceeds to a grocery shop, only to call her friend and inform about the non availability of the person. Here again, Ms. Mumbai and Mr. Pune meet for the second time.

Their general argument to show each other’s attachment for their native, brings them together, when Mr. Pune offers courtesy to Ms. Mumbai by taking her for a ride during the day time, as the girl has a return ticket for an evening train and wants to pass her time. Together, they visit places like Saras Baug, Dagduseth Ganapati temple, crowded Tulshi baug and Sinhagad. They share their experiences about their past love affairs, but do not reveal each others name. Finally, Mr. Pune drops Ms. Mumbai at Pune station and both say good bye to each other. While she waits for her train, she receives a call on her cell phone, (which suddenly starts functioning) from the boy from Pune, whom she had actually come to see. But, when she comes out to meet him at the gate, as agreed, she finds Mr. Pune, still struggling to kick his scooter. Needless to say that Mr. Pune is none other than her would be. In the climax shot the girl is shown running to catch her train back to Mumbai, giving some indication to the boy about her approval.

Mukta Barve

Director Satish Rajwade directs this unusual love story in his own style trying to keep the audience engaged with arguments and counter arguments between the two characters. Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai, is more like an audio delight ( through timely dialogues) than visual impact, as you only notice the two characters in the same dress for about 100 minutes, except for the song-cum-dream sequence for 5 minutes, when they are seen in some designer costumes. It is only few outdoor locations of Pune darshan that brings in some change, but otherwise you see two of them just perform and express their emotions, while making their point. There isn’t much scope for music, but other technical areas have been handled well.
Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai(MPM), is thus an experiment to attempt something different. Such experiments are only acceptable in Marathi cinema. Precisely, MPM is a performance driven and communication based film with both Swapnil Joshi and Mukta Barve coming out with realistic performances. Except for few junior artistes, there are no other characters in the film. Targeted mainly at the young audience from Mumbai and Pune, the film does succeed in inviting the attention of elders besides the youngsters. But, this movie is certainly not for school going kids, as they are sure to feel sleepy or become restless during that total 106 minutes journey. For others, it is a light entertainer, for a change.

‘Mumbai -Pune -Mumbai’ – A film based on only two characters

Mukta Barve

A love story with only the two lead characters sounds quite unique in Marathi films; but, Satish Rajwade’s new film ‘Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai’ is one such film with a difference.

The film’s romantic pair of Swapnil Joshi and Mukta Barve want to spend a day on their own without any interference from anyone, in the ambience of beautiful nature. That’s the gist of the film.

This ‘Mirah Arts Prod. Pvt Ltd’ presentation is written by Parag Kulkarni and Satish Rajwade with music by Avinash – Vishwajeet and cinematography by Suhas Gujrathi. The film is due for release on June 11.

Swapnil Joshi – Changing the look of Marathi films

Swapnil Joshi, Actor

Marathi film industry has found a perfect star in Swapnil Joshi, to change its look. Today, he is the most popular hero in Marathi entertainment industry, being partly responsible for the success of the latest released Super hit Marathi film ‘Duniyadari’. The film was rated among the top 10 Indian films during the last week of July 2013 with 98 % occupancy, much more than films like ‘Mariya( Tamil), Ship of Thesus( English) and ‘Bhag Milkha Bhag’ and ‘D day’s( Hindi); according to Bookmyshow.com.

Swapnil JoshiWith his Chocolate Boy image, Swapnil had a good start for his acting career, during late 80s; when as a 9 year old kid, he played the role of ‘Kush’ in the second part of Ramanand Sagar’s most popular TV serial ‘Ramayan’, i.e.Uttar Ramayan( titled ‘Luv kush) . Few years later, as a teenager he performed as young Krishna, in Ramanand Sagar’s mega TV serial ‘Krishna’. Swapnil did take a break for his studies, to complete his education. He completed his graduation in commerce from Sydenham College ,Mumbai .Later, while performing in Hindi TV serials, he also completed his law graduation.

Some of the Hindi TV soaps he performed in late 90s were ‘Amanat’ ,’Had Kar Di’ and ‘Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand’, a highly popular soap which ran from 2001 to 2005; followed by ‘Hare Kaanch Ki Choodiyaan’ . In the meanwhile, he attained more popularity through TV reality shows; both as a performer and show anchor. In comedy series ‘Papad Pol – Shahabuddin Rathod Ki Rangeen Duniya’ aired only three years ago, on SAB TV, rated him a popular Indian television star.

Simultaneously, his journey into Marathi television and films, had also begun. He acted in one Marathi serial titled ‘Adhuri Ek Kahani’ and also performed in films like ‘Manini’, ‘Checkmate’ and ‘Mumbai Pune Mumbai’. For ‘Checkmate’, he received State award for best actor. Recently, he performed in a popular Marathi serial ‘Eka Lagnachi Dusri Goshta’opposite Mukta Barve. And, their chemistry worked very well on small screen. But, the success of Marathi Film ‘Duniyadari’ will take him long way. By the way, his new Marathi stage play, ‘Get well Soon!’ is also drawing good crowds.

The year 2013 seems to be lucky year for him. When Marathi Movie world called him up, to congratulate him on his recent film’s success, he was very happy. Talking about his future projects, he said that his two more films are due for release soon. My next film ‘Govinda’ is due for release on 16th August and the promotion of the same will begin from 1st August. The next to follow before the end of this year, will be ‘Mangalashtaka Once More’,’ he concluded. But, he seemed to be very happy, with the success of ‘Duniyadari’. Indeed, Swapnil has put in his heart into the role of Shreyas Talwalkar in this film. The film has not only captured the audience from Mumbai, Pune; but, also district places like Ratnagiri & Kolhapur. And, Swapnil is the most popular hero of Marathi films today. Perhaps, it is for the first time, in recent years, a hero from Marathi films has reached popularity heights.
