‘Ole Aale (ओले आले)’ is a story of a retired lonely father and an extremely busy son , who cannot spare even a few minutes with his father. Set on the backdrop of an expedition undertaken by the career oriented son Aale ( Siddharth Chandekar) to make his father Ole ( Nana Patekar) happy, under strange circumstances. During their journey they encounter a young lady Kayara alias ‘Kahihi’( Sayali Sanjeev), who joins them to discover the true meaning of life.

The highlight of this beautiful road journey film is that it has been shot at picturesque locations around Haridwar, Chopta and Kedarnath. But, more than that are the series of shocking revelations generated through the gripping screenplay from beginning till end.

Actually, ‘Ole Aale’ is a remake of Super hit Gujarathi film ‘Chaal Jeevi Laiye! ‘ and is directed by the same director Vipul Mehta who had directed the original film. However , the presentation part is simply superb through communicative sequences which are witnessed through the well written crisp dialogues. Perfect editing by Jitendra Shah, appealing cinematography by Gulam Nabi and pleasant music by Sachin-Jigar have added that required backing to this film.

Above all, the performances by the three lead artistes namely Nana Patekar, Siddharth Chandekar & Sayalee Sanjeev and well supported by Makarand Anaspure and Tanvi Azmi make this film more acceptable. Each one of them have put in their heart and soul into their respective characters. In short, after a long time this film has turned out to be a perfect gift for the new year to our Marathi film lovers. A must see film for all.

‘Natsamrat’ to hit the Big Screens once again

Nana Patekar, Marathi Movie Natsamrat, Mahesh Manjrekar
Some films are memorable and can be seen again and again. Marathi film ‘Natasamrat (read review) is one of them. The makers of this film are all set to release this film once again at Single screens and multiplexes from Friday 27th November 2020. An official announcement has been made, after watching the reopening of cinema halls after a long period of lock down due to spread of corona virus. It may be recalled that the film had done a good business of Rs. 50 Cr. At the box office, when it was released in January 2016.

The film depicts the tragic family life of a stage actor Ganpat Ramchandra Belwalkar, who has retired from acting but is unable to forget his fond memories of theatre and the stage. Versatile actor Nana Patekar had put in his heart to portray this difficult role on the big screen. And he received very good response from other artistes like Vikram Gokhale, Medha Manjrekar and others. In addition to this Mahesh Manjrekar’s direction added that special flavour to this original story penned by V.V. Shirwadkar.

By releasing this film once again in cinema theatres, the presenters have taken a good decision to invite the film lovers to the theatres once again. But, it all remains to be seen how the people would respond to this offer.

‘Aapla Manus’ presents complex relationship using Right angled triangle

Movie Review by: Ulhas Shirke

Marathi experimental plays have always attempted ‘out of the box’ scripts and one of them has been playwright Vivek Bele’s Marathi playKatkone Trikon‘, which won many popular awards in the past. Now, producer Ajay Devgn and director Satish Rajwade have given cinematic form to this play offering a mediocre title ‘Aapla Manus‘ to their latest released film. So, we can say that ‘Aapla Manus‘ presents complex relationship using Right angled triangle.

Marathi movie 'Aapla Manus'
Nana Patekar, Sumeet Raghavan & Irawati Harshe in Marathi movie ‘Aapla Manus’

Aapla Manus‘ is a story of a young couple Rahul ( Sumeet Raghavan) and Bhakti ( Irawati Harshe) and their intricate relationship with Rahul’s father Aaba ( Nana Patekar) who lives with the couple. The couple has already kept their only little child in a Boarding school, since both of them are working. While Sumeet is a practicing lawyer, Bhakti is a maths teacher. The busy lifestyle of the couple and his grandson kept away from him, makes Aaba feel cut off from the family, though he lives with them. Aaba who is in a habit of communicating most of the time, is often worried over small happenings. And, this gives scope to the daughter in law to enter into frequent arguments. The son tries to keep himself away from these arguments, though his father expects his support.

One day, on returning from a short vacation spent by the couple along with Aaba, an unexpected incident takes place, which is shown in the initial scene of the film. Aaba is shown fallen from the balcony of the house, during the night hour, when it is raining heavily. The building watchman seeks help and we see the arrival of a Police Investigating Officer Mr. Nagargoje ( Nana Patekar playing one more character) . He makes all efforts to detect whether it was a suicide case or an attempt to murder.

Thereafter, we find the Police officer finding enough scope to detect the crime using his own methods to prove his target guilty. But, the well written script and screenplay of the film, keep the audience guessing with twists in the script and good direction coming from Satish Rajwade. However, when the film nears conclusion, it leaves enough scope for the audience to react with their quick analysis. Nevertheless, the good dialogues and wonderful performances of all the lead characters helps to keep the audience engaged most of the time in this 138 minute long film, without song breaks. Nana Patekar steals the show with his superb performance through two different characters, but not much attention has been paid to make him look different , except for wearing a sweater and modulating his voice for the older character. Even while performing two different characters on stage, an artiste needs different looks, so why not on screen, where there was enough scope to take cinematic liberties ?

It is not only Nana, even Sumeet and Irawati have given their best through their respective roles to display their acting skills in their own style. In the concluding part of the film, we see the arrival of Nagargoje’s son , played by Ajay Devgn. By the way, Inspector’s tragic story has also some relevance with the main theme of the film. All in all ‘Aapla Manus‘ is a good film and can be enjoyed by those who love to watch mystery based films, with good background music .

After receiving overwhelming response for the first look of their film ‘Aapla Manus‘, Viacom18 Motion Pictures & Ajay Devgn along with director Satish Rajwade launched the trailer of their film in presence of lead artistes of this film comprising of Nana Patekar, Sumeet Raghavan and Irawati Harshe. From the first look, this film gives an indication that it is a cinematic presentation of a Gujarathi and Hindi play of Paresh Rawal, the play itself is an adaptation of Marathi play ‘Katkone Trikon‘ , which had won several popular awards few years ago.

The trailer gives a glimpse about the lives of a young urban couple Rahul and Bhakti Gokhale, played by Sumeet Raghavan and Irawati Harshe and the complexity of the relationship with the father. The unexpected death of the father marks the entry of Senior investigating Inspector, Maruti Nagargoje, played by Nana Patekar into

their lives. Maruti Nagargoje turns their world upside down interrogating their beliefs about life and family.

Aapla Manus‘ film does have a stellar cast comprising of versatile artistes like Nana Patekar, Sumeet Raghavan & Irawati Harshe, who have worked under the captaincy of Satish Rajwade, which has raised expectations of the Marathi film lovers. For Nana Patekar his role in this film is a big challenge, after his superb performance in ‘Natasamrat‘.
