“My hobby turned into passion for acting” – Chinmay Udgirkar

As an actor, he has been performing in experimental theatre for the past seven years. But, his debut serial ‘Swapnanchya Palikadle’ in lead role, brought him name and fame. In the recent past Chinmay Udgirkar, the talented actor from Nashik, who was part of a Theatre Group Genius, has performed in many experimental plays and was also part of serials like ‘Raja Shiv Chhatrapati’ & ‘Mann Udhaan Varyache’. Chinmay has also made his film debut with latest released film ‘Shyamche Vadil’ in which he plays a young 22 year old protagonist, who is a Rock singer. Marathi Movie World spoke to Chinmay, to know more about his acting career.

Chinmay UdgirkarWhile in school and college, Chinmay used to perform on stage, just as a hobby. But, after winning the prizes for his performance; he himself doesn’t remember when exactly his hobby turned into passion. Today, Chinmay has gone through all the three areas of acting; i.e. stage, television and now films. His role of Shyam in ‘Shyamche Vadil’ has offered him a right platform for his entry into Big screen. Speaking about his selection for this role, Chinmay says that Mr. Ajay Pathak, who was creative head of his serial, had this idea in mind, to make a film. “When he turned Producer and decided to make this film, he selected me for this role, as he had seen my work and was impressed with me,” he ads.

Chinmay Udgirkar

Chinmay feels that hard work and sincerity is very important in any profession, you opt for. “I exactly did that and tried to give my 100%. “While I was doing theatre, I not only performed on stage; but, was also part of back stage work and even selling tickets of the show at the window, whenever required. May be this commitment and sincerity, enabled me to find my roles in serials and film,” he stated.

Chinmay’s favourite actors are Tom Hanks and Aamir Khan; but as far as idol is concerned, there is none who has really inspired him. Since the time, he became serious about acting profession, he has been on his own. When asked to comment on Reality show, he preferred to avoid comments, as he felt that it was a different field.

In the recent past, there were news floating about his close links with actress Mrunal Dusanis. When asked to comment on this close friendship, Chinmay was frank enough to comment, stating “Both of us are very good friends for past few years, since we belonged to the same theatre group and have been always supporting each other in this city of Mumbai. This does not mean that people should start linking up our good relationship for something else. We are just good friends,” he concludes.

Movie Review by: Ulhas Shirke

Gone are the days, when housewives used to wait for their husbands to return home, to serve them dinner and then eat their food in the kitchen. Today, women are working shoulder to shoulder with men. At home front, we find both husband and wife working and returning home late hours in the evening, depriving time for their children.

The cases of wife working and husband sitting at home jobless and taking care of the children are not unheard. In such cases, generally we find clashes at home between husband and wife over money matters, which finally results into divorce.

However, the latest film ‘Shyamche Vadil- Ek Nave Parva’ produced by Ajay Pathak and directed by R. Viraj, present one couple, where the husband –Madhav( Tushar Dalvi) becomes jobless, soon after marriage; as he suffers in his business, due to cancellation of huge export order. Luckily for him, his wife( Sulekha Talwalkar) gets a job in a multinational bank. The selfish wife however warns her husband to earn for their living so as to buy day to day grocery and pay electricity bill. She however takes care of her child and spends towards his education.

The wife doesn’t leave a single opportunity to humiliate her husband in front of her son. This keeps on going till the son Shyam attains 22 years of age and turns a Rock Singer. The humiliation of his father forces Shyam to approach his lawyer aunty ( Reema Lagoo) to secure divorce for his father. But, he comes to know the hurdle of section 498(B), as he is well aware that his father would not like to wash the dirty linen in Public. So, he takes help of social networking site and opens a page in the name of ‘Suffering fathers’ and gathers good support from hundreds of young children who show willingness to support him in the appeal.

What transpires has been clearly suggested in the surprise climax of this film. The film has attempted a new theme to go with the changing time. Very cleverly the director has used the sufferings of the son coming out through his emotions in the songs delivered by him. Instead of turning to bad habits, the youngster opts for music to relieve his stress, is the best example he has placed before such youths sailing in the same boat.
Shyamche Vadil

Some of the scenes in the film, like the wife driving away her husband and son from home during late evening hours and the wife raising her hand on her husband look unrealistic. However, the request for amending the section 498(b), to secure hassle free divorce, seems a good suggestion coming through this film. The sincere effort of the film maker to present this thought provoking theme combined with Rock music as its base, is to be appreciated. It has therefore become an universal appeal. The music by the trio comprising of Soham, Aditya and Nikhil is impressive.

Looking at the performances, Tushar Dalvi plays an ideal and patient husband who sacrifices his life for proper upbringing of his son. Sulekha Talwalkar fits into the character of a shrewd and self centred mother. Both have played their roles according to the demand of the script. Chinmay Udgirkar who makes his film debut through this film, gives a satisfying performance. In the supporting roles Reema Lagoo, Dr. Mohan Agashe, Vinay Apte, Vidydhar Joshi have offered good support while Smita Talwalkar and Shekhar Navare appear in two scenes in guest appearance. The Music director trio have themselves played the friends of Shyam, which was a good thinking.

To describe the film in short, ‘Shyamche Vadil’ stands up for suffering fathers in the society and also sends a strong message to the Judiciary to rethink over seeking amendment to a particular section, which would prevent the aggrieved couples from washing the dirty linen in Public.

Soham Pathak

Soham, Aditya and Nikhil open their innings in Film Music

Soham, Aditya, Nikhil

Soham Pathak In the forthcoming Marathi film ‘Shyamche Vadil’ the team comprising of Soham-Aditya and Nikhil are making their debut as music directors. Fortunately for them, music has been the heart of this film, which is based on the emotion filled story in the life of a Rock star. There is ample scope for Pure Rock in Marathi for them. When Marathi Movie World spoke to these three talented music directors, they were very delighted with the response they had received during the release of their music CD. “Our music in this film is for all age groups.” they announced.

Soham, who has himself rendered his voice for Chinmay Udgirkar in this film, said that his voice very well matched with the young hero; but was more thrilled for having got an opportunity to compose music on the voice of renowned veteran singer Hariharan. “We had sent a CD with composition in my voice to him, for approval and when he came to the studio for the first time; he asked, whose voice it was? And also appreciated the composition and sample voice. It was a compliment to me and my team.” says Soham.

In this film, the beautiful song that is rendered by Hariharan is ‘Saare Punha Aathave’. penned by Mandar Cholkar, who also happens to be a common friend of the trio. There are other songs like ‘Udya udya’, ‘Purush Mee’ and ‘Sakal sakal’’, which are expected to invite attention of music lovers. And, they will also decide the future of Soham-Aditya and Nikhil’s team work. Soham Pathak, now just 19, who also writes songs, besides singing and providing music; is all set to play long innings to in this field of entertainment .

“Fortunately for us, we have got a breakthrough this film at the most appropriate time, when Marathi films are going worldwide. We are holding our feet on the ground and will never get carried away with the success in years to come.” they concluded. Listening to their music gives a clear indication that they are here to stay, like some of the renowned music directors.
Marathi Movie World wishes them all the best for their rising career in music.

Music of ‘Shyamche Vadil’ launched

Sulekha

We had heard about Acharya Atre’s sensible marathi film ‘Shyamchi Aai’ written by sane Guruji, which had thrown light on the emotion filled relationship between mother and son. Even otherwise, mothers have always played an important role in their children’s lives. And the role played by father has never been highlighted through films. In 1921, Charlie Chaplin played one such emotion filled relationship of a father, through his film ‘The Kid’.

Now, writer Ajay Pathak who has written a script on the emotion filled relationship between father and son and has also produced this film with a suitable title ‘Shyamche Vadil- Ek Nave Parva’. The film is directed by R. Viraj, who had earlier directed a Marathi film ‘Teeghi’. On Friday afternoon, the music of this film was released in presence of main stars of the film, comprising of Tushar Dalvi, Sulekha Talwalkar and Chinmay Udgirkar; in the office of Universal Music Company, Bandra.

Director Viraj was kind enough to introduce the Writer Producer Mr. Pathak, who said that he always wanted to present a story about the change in lifestyle of a couple, which results in their regular arguments and fights at home. How such troubled relationship between husband and wife has negative impact on the child, is all that he has tried to emphasize. “Whether such children, who have witnessed the strained relationship of their parents over the years, would really be interested in marriage when they mature or would prefer the live in relationship?” questions Mr.Pathak. Actor Tushar Dalvi said that he was very impressed by the script of this film.

“I wouldn’t like to reveal much about the film’s script; but the climax is more interesting with a strong message to the society. We have made this film for all age groups and music plays an important factor in our film,” concluded Mr. Pathak, before introducing his team of Music directors, who are making their debut through this film. The trio comprising of youngsters Soham-Aditya- Nikhil ; from Thane, who used to perform their own musical shows , are offering variety comprising of Rock and classical together in this film. They seem to have worked very hard on the lyrics of Mandar Cholkar.

There are total five songs in the film and one of them ‘Saare Punha Aathave’ has been rendered by popular singer Hariharan, while other four in Rock format has been rendered by Soham Pathak (one of the Music directors) himself. In the film Shyam(Chinmay Udgirkar) , who plays a 22 year old Rock star. While his father’s title role in played by Tushar Dalvi. Sulekha Talwalkar plays his mother in this film. Other artistes of the film are Reema, Vinay Apte, Dr. Mohan Agashe, Vidyadhar Joshi along with guest stars Smita Talwalkar and Shekhar Navare.

“Our film has been shot at 30 different real locations including indoors at different houses and there was no compromise from the writer producer Mr. Pathak, who was very liberal about the budget of this film and it was a pleasure working with the entire team of talented artistes,” said Director Viraj . Actor Tushar Dalvi said that he was very impressed by the script of this film. The film is due for release shortly.
