]]> Acharya Parvati Kumar who brought recognition to Indian classical dance at the world level, is no more. The well known dance guru passed away at his Mumbai residence on Thursday. He was 94. Many of his disciples were present in large number for his funeral on Thursday evening.

Acharya Parvati Kumar had done extensive research in Indian classical dance and was conferred with prestigious awards by Akhil Bharatiya Natyaparishad, Sangeet Natak Academy award and Chaturang Life time achievement award. He had also served on various committees constituted by Education Department of Central Government and Sangeet Natak academy.

Prayer meeting will be held in a hall next to his residence at Grant road at 5 pm on Sunday 2nd December 2012.
