Tushar Dalvi is a well known stage actor who stepped into films with ‘Jivalaga’. He received his first big award as the best actor in marathi film ‘Mrugajal‘ in the year 2000. He has also performed in few Hindi films. He has been honoured with many prestigious awards and nominated on several occasions. Tushar has worked in Marathi and Hindi serials on TV and is a popular TV anchor. His recent releases are ‘Investment‘ , ‘Sau. Shashi Deodhar‘ and ‘Te Aath Divas‘.

First look of forthcoming Marathi film ‘Te Aath Divas’ was unveiled in presence of main artistes of the film and media persons today evening. On this occasion child artiste of the film Ashitosh Gaikwad presented a skit to introduce all the main artists in this film, one by one. And it was a unique way of introducing the artistes to the media.

The film is produced by Kishor Dhargalkar and Shekhar Pradhan and directed by Shyam Dhanorkar.DOP NavnitMisar and music Vikas Bhatavdekar are other credits. The film stars Tushar Pradhan, Renuka Shane, Atul Todankar, Aroh Velankar, Deepali Mucherkar, Avinash Masurekar, Sunil Joshi, Meena Sonavne , Abhilasha Patil ,Ashitosh Gaikwad and others.
The film is all set to release soon.

After a long time, there is a Marathi film, which has a good narrative story, filled with suspense. ‘Sou Shashi Deodhar’ is actually a mystery filled film, which is well presented by director Amol Shetge, who has himself written the story of this film. You may also call it a psychological thriller, which revolves around a middle class young married woman, who identifies herself as Ms.Shubhada Shashi Deodhar, after she recovers from a hit by the car driven by Dr. Ajinkya Vartak, during one rainy night.

Since it is a road accident, it involves police investigation and Dr.Ajinkya is held up in the hospital, till the young woman gives her statement to the police, after her recovery, admitting that it was her own fault, as she lost her balance. But, her real identity still remains a mystery; as Dr. Ajinkya, who has been asked by the police officer to drop her at the address given by her, turns out to be owned by somebody else. Even the description given by the lady about her husband, does not match with the person located. Finally, the police issue an advertisement in the newspaper, with her photo and till that time, the lady finds shelter at Dr. Ajainkya’s house. Being a bachelor and a psychiatrist, he not only takes good care of her; but, also does the job of police department, to locate Shashi Deodhar, with the help of a social networking site.

In the meanwhile, reading the advertisement, a young man Mr. Thakur( Aniket kelkar) with his one leg injured, walks into the police station, claiming the young lady as his wife- Nilima. But, the young lady refuses to identify him as her husband. So, the husband asks the police to take her to her father; who identifies her as his daughter. But, the lady claiming herself as Shubhada, is then brought in contact with Mr. Shashi Deodhar and his real wife Shubhada. Even after meeting them, the lady tells Dr. Ajinkya that she does not know them. Finally, Dr.Ajinkya, with her consent and taking the police officer into confidence, injects her with sodium pentothal drug, to make her confess the truth, in the concluding part of the film.

From start till the end, director Amol Shetge has cleverly kept the pace of the film, holding the grip on his story. Few scenes in the film look irrelevant. But, very cleverly, he has introduced new characters in the screenplay one by one, to keep the mystery. Even he has taken a break for interval, at the right time, in this little less than 2 hour length film. The concluding part unfolds the mystery in a very systematic manner, to make this film an absorbing fiction. suresh Deshmane’s cinematography is good. Music and background music is apt for this kind of mystery filled tale.

Sai Tamhankar, known for her glamorous roles, has found an opportunity to play a simple middle class married woman, suffering from a split personality disorder. She is highly impressive in a different role, through this film. In the role of Dr.Ajinkya Vartak, Ajinkya Deo has played his part very naturally. He seemed to be a perfect choice for this role. In the supporting cast, Aniket Kelkar, Avinash Kharshikar,Tushar Dalvi, Janardan Parab, producer Shilpa Shirodkar –Ranjit’s daughter Anushka, her husband Ranjit, director Amol Shetge himself and others have offered a good support. Tushar looks different in his new get up.

‘Sou Shashi Deodhar’ has certainly succeeded to bring in that desired change in Marathi films, with a new subject, which is socially so relevant. Thanks to Shilpa and her husband Ranjit for their debut offering. But, the kind of publicity done by the film, it failed to find the crowds at theatres on the first day. Growel- kandivali, witnessed just 10 people, for 1.10 pm show. Hope that the film picks up well, in next two days.

Popular Bollywood actress of 80s and 90s Shilpa Shirodkar is now into production of a Marathi film. Shilpa has launched her production company ‘Orange Tree Productions’ under the banner of which she is making her first Marathi film titled ‘Sou Shashi Deodhar’. Shilpa has already received support for her production from her husband Mr. Ranjit besides Neeta Shetty and krushna Shetty.

‘Sou Shashi Deodhar’ is scripted and directed by Amol Shetge and has a powerful star cast in the form of Ajinkya Deo, Tushar Dalvi, avinash Kharshikar and Sai Tamhankar. Suresh pai is the co-producer of this film, which began its shooting in Mumbai recently. Lyrics by Ashwini Shende, music by Tabi- Parik , cinematography by Suresh Deshmane are the other credits.

‘Investment’ written and directed by Ratnakar Matkari, has already won National award before its official release. The film also received critical acclaim at various international film festival, during the past few months. Now, its timely release has brought to the notice of the audience not only a socially relevant and hard-hitting subject; but a timely and thought provoking film.

Actually, ‘Investment’ is an extraordinary film, presenting the story of a typical Upwardly working couple Aashish ( Tushar Dalvi) and Prachi ( Supriya Vinod) and their twelve-year old son, Sohel(Parharsh Naik), who is being pampered with more than required care. The mother has a dream of raising her son to be a successful Politician of the Future, a field, which she believes, is promising, due to its lucrative opportunities of growth, power and finance. But, Sohel who turns a spoilt & self-centered brat, wants to follow his father’s footsteps. Only success formula he believes in is, “Achieve, what you wish”.

One day, he sends a love note to his classmate Deepa Gangan, who hails from a totally different social strata. As a result, her father (Sandeep Pathak) informs Ashish and Prachi to keep their son at bay. Prachi takes it as an insult; but Aashish’s old mother (Sulbha Deshpande) who keeps visiting their house; smells some trouble. Very next day, Deepa goes missing and Sohel who is approached by Deepa’s father, tells that he is unaware of her whereabouts. But, when Deepa’s dead body is found by the police; the suspicion points towards Sohel.

It is at this point, the film takes a break for interval, to generate more interest among the audience. In the post interval session, the issues of morality of different characters come to the fore, with the declaration of the actual crime. The film makes a clever statement on the materialistic point of view, with which today’s generation is ignoring moral values. The outcome of the case, signifies the selfish attitude, besides lack of regret of the educated young middle-class. Such disregard for moral values, concludes with a terrible climax of the film. But, that one last scene goes on to say everything; leaving it to the sensible audience to understand the effects of wrong court judgements.

There is no doubt about the strong impact created by the story of this film written by Ratnakar Matkari; but, as a director that too on debut, he has done a very good job. Through the film’s gripping screenplay, he has not only tried to generate curiosity at every moment; but has also sent a strong social message, through the contrast characters of Grand mother and the Mother of the child. The father does have some conscience; as seen through some cleverly shot scenes, but he too turns materialistic, at important situations.

Through the characters of influential criminal lawyer (Sanjay Mone) ,the school principal, class teacher and Police Inspector, the director has lot to convey, about the corrupt existing system. At the same time, through the characters of Sandeep Pathak, Bhagyashree Pane, Milind Pathak and Soham Kolvankar, he has presented the helpless voice of common man fighting for justice.

Except for the terrible climax, which leaves to the audience to decide the fate of such juvenile criminals; the film does send a clear message ‘As you sow, so shall you reap’. There are no songs in this film and therefore you focus on the series of events; which generate a lot of interest at every stage of the screenplay. Cinematography by Amol Gole and clever editing by Sagar Vanjari are other plus points of the film; besides superb realistic performances from all the artistes. A must see film for all..

Gone are the days, when housewives used to wait for their husbands to return home, to serve them dinner and then eat their food in the kitchen. Today, women are working shoulder to shoulder with men. At home front, we find both husband and wife working and returning home late hours in the evening, depriving time for their children.

The cases of wife working and husband sitting at home jobless and taking care of the children are not unheard. In such cases, generally we find clashes at home between husband and wife over money matters, which finally results into divorce.

However, the latest film ‘Shyamche Vadil- Ek Nave Parva’ produced by Ajay Pathak and directed by R. Viraj, present one couple, where the husband –Madhav( Tushar Dalvi) becomes jobless, soon after marriage; as he suffers in his business, due to cancellation of huge export order. Luckily for him, his wife( Sulekha Talwalkar) gets a job in a multinational bank. The selfish wife however warns her husband to earn for their living so as to buy day to day grocery and pay electricity bill. She however takes care of her child and spends towards his education.

The wife doesn’t leave a single opportunity to humiliate her husband in front of her son. This keeps on going till the son Shyam attains 22 years of age and turns a Rock Singer. The humiliation of his father forces Shyam to approach his lawyer aunty ( Reema Lagoo) to secure divorce for his father. But, he comes to know the hurdle of section 498(B), as he is well aware that his father would not like to wash the dirty linen in Public. So, he takes help of social networking site and opens a page in the name of ‘Suffering fathers’ and gathers good support from hundreds of young children who show willingness to support him in the appeal.

What transpires has been clearly suggested in the surprise climax of this film. The film has attempted a new theme to go with the changing time. Very cleverly the director has used the sufferings of the son coming out through his emotions in the songs delivered by him. Instead of turning to bad habits, the youngster opts for music to relieve his stress, is the best example he has placed before such youths sailing in the same boat.

Some of the scenes in the film, like the wife driving away her husband and son from home during late evening hours and the wife raising her hand on her husband look unrealistic. However, the request for amending the section 498(b), to secure hassle free divorce, seems a good suggestion coming through this film. The sincere effort of the film maker to present this thought provoking theme combined with Rock music as its base, is to be appreciated. It has therefore become an universal appeal. The music by the trio comprising of Soham, Aditya and Nikhil is impressive.

Looking at the performances, Tushar Dalvi plays an ideal and patient husband who sacrifices his life for proper upbringing of his son. Sulekha Talwalkar fits into the character of a shrewd and self centred mother. Both have played their roles according to the demand of the script. Chinmay Udgirkar who makes his film debut through this film, gives a satisfying performance. In the supporting roles Reema Lagoo, Dr. Mohan Agashe, Vinay Apte, Vidydhar Joshi have offered good support while Smita Talwalkar and Shekhar Navare appear in two scenes in guest appearance. The Music director trio have themselves played the friends of Shyam, which was a good thinking.

To describe the film in short, ‘Shyamche Vadil’ stands up for suffering fathers in the society and also sends a strong message to the Judiciary to rethink over seeking amendment to a particular section, which would prevent the aggrieved couples from washing the dirty linen in Public.

“Sadrakshanaay Khalanigrahnaay…” That’s the oath taken by our Police officers in Maharashtra, before taking charge of their most responsible post. In short, it means, “We shall be unbiased, transparent and secular and respect democratic values, while delivering services to the society. We are committed to protect women, children as well as senior citizens, while eradicating the anti social elements in the society”. Looking at the present day situation, one really does not know, how many of them are able to exercise their powers to remain committed to their oath. If we take for example present day situation in Maharshtra, we find the Police department constantly under the pressure from Politicians. But, you have to blame the system for that. There are good officers too, who perform their duty with utmost commitment.

The latest Marathi film ‘Sadrakshanaay’ written and directed by Vikram Labhe is not only a timely film but also an inspiring film to boost the morale of all those Police officers, for whom their duty comes first. Vidya, ( Manasi Salvi) who is an orphan turned Police Officer in the rank of ACP, Crime Branch, is married to Pushkar,( Tushar Dalvi) who is into Real Estate business and also a childhood friend of her colleague- Milind ( Sagar Talashikar). They are a happily married couple with few misunderstandings here and there, like any other working couple. They have a cute son-Shubham( Master Rahul Phalke) and they live in a joint family in the company of Pushkar’s parents ( Bal Dhuri and Suhita Thatte).
One day, while Vidya and Pushkar are on their way to Shubham’s school to attend the Parent’s day special programme, Vidya notices a wanted criminal ( Kamlesh Sawant) on a motorcycle at a signal point next to their car. She dares to block him and chases him after informing her Crime branch team. The criminal is then cornered at one residential colony, but he picks up a child as a hostage. After the arrival of the force, Vidya leads the team and saves the life of the child by killing the criminal in an encounter. She is questioned by her senior ( Shishir Sharma), for conducting such a risky operation without his permission and that too when she was off duty. But, he soon realizes his mistake when Vidya reminds him of his own teachings. He then backs Vidya and her team.

In the meanwhile, when Pushkar proceeds to Bangalore for his business work, Vidya realizes her duty to her lonely child and takes him one evening to his favourite fast food outlet. When she receives a call from her colleague that is disconnected; she comes out in the open to call back. Just at that moment, a powerful blast takes place in that food court resulting into several deaths and injuries. Vidya finds Shubham severely injured and rushes him to hospital after informing Pushkar’s parents. Pushkar is not available on his number. At the hospital, she receives an emergency call from her senior, who asks her to report at the hideout of the terrorists, at one housing complex in suburbs of Mumbai.
Viday’s father-in –law understands the situation and suggests her to proceed on her duty. At the place of hide out, the police team led by Vidya are able to nab all the terrorists but, they are taken for surprise with the arrest of an Indian connection. It is at this stage, the film takes a break for interval. In the post interval session till the end ‘Sadrakshanaay’ becomes more gripping through the action sequences and equally absorbing with those emotion filled scenes. It would not be advisable to reveal much about the post interval happenings, as that will take away interest of the viewers. But, the film does send a strong message to the society, as to how a desire of a person to become rich quickly can land him into trouble, falling a prey to underworld link in real estate business, who eventually control terrorist activities. It also goes on to show a clear nexus between Politicians and underworld. Unlike the other films on this subject, ‘Sadrakshanaay’ stands apart, with its emotion filled realistic tale, with a good storyline.

Manasi Salvi, in the role of a firebrand ACP, goes on to prove that she is still in the reckoning of a good actress. It’s a great comeback for her. With her expressive eyes and well suited body language for this role, she certainly invites the attention of one and all. Tushar Dalvi has supported her well through some of his emotion filled scenes. Master Rahul Phalke is just fine but Bharat Ganeshpure plays the corrupt Minister in his own style with a difference. Shishir Sharma as Vidya’s boss is loud on few occasions; but Bal Dhuri and Suhila Thatte are simply remarkable as Pushkar’s parents. The screenplay is well presented without any scope for songs and that makes it more appealing. Photography by Amit Singh is good and so is the editing work. The film certainly gives a realistic and thrilling experience to the viewers. Director Vikram Labhe certainly deserves a pat on his shoulders for offering such a sensible film.
