Varad who is himself an actor, having performed variety of roles in television serials and films, thought of using this time to communicate with people through his video programme titled ‘Aathavanitle Baba’ which is spread over in parts. He has uploaded this video on youtube . In a short time he has received good response from people , who feel that it is the biggest tribute from a son to his father. Through this video Varad has described the early life of his father and his entry into this field. He has dedicated one full part talking about his father’s successful play ‘Moruchi Mavshi’ which created a record of presenting 500 shows in 500 days.

Varad also explains how his father was benefited with the experience he gained while working with some top artistes of his time, including legendary Dada Kondke and others. Certainly a worth watch, as Varad has made it interesting by narrating some humour filled happenings during the stage shows of his father and by adding old photos and documents from his collection.

Renowned Marathi actor known for his comedy roles in Marathi plays and films, is no more. He was 63. He is survived by his wife and son Varad who is also an actor. Vijay Chavan  breathed his last today morning at Fortis Hospital, Mulund, Mumbai, where he was admitted few days ago . He was suffering from ailment for the past few years. Very recently, he was conferred with the prestigious State award for Lifetime Achievement at the Maharashtra State Marathi film awards, at the hands of Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr. Devendra Fadnavis and in presence of State Cultural Minister  Mr. Vinod Tawde.   On this occasion, he was brought on a wheel chair by his son Varad. But, even in that condition he gave an inspiring speech indicating his willingness to perform more and more roles.

Mr. Chavan had performed in about 350 films, which also included few Hindi films. Most of his roles were comedy roles and what was good about him was that he established his own identity even in presence of top comedians during late 80s and 90s when he won several awards for his performance. Best thing about him was that he continued to perform in films in spite of his illness, inspiring his fans with a message that ‘the show must go on‘.  Vijay Chavan will always be remembered for his superb performance in the hit Marathi play ‘Moruchi Maushi‘ which staged 400 shows. With his passing away, Marathi film industry has lost a very good actor, but he will always be remembered for his variety of roles.

Many veteran artistes like Mahesh Kothare, Ramesh Bhatkar, Sanjay Narvekar who were present for his funeral, paid tributes to their departed friend.  Incidentally, Vijay’s son Varad has also established his identity as an actor in Marathi TV serials and films. And, we are sure he will carry forward the legacy of his father.

When Vijay Chavan entered Marathi films, there were already two best comedians Ashok Saraf and Laxmikant Berde, who were top priority of film makers for their comedy films. But, Vijay Chavan also invited the attention of film lovers through various character roles he found to his share. Besides big screen, he also found good roles on small screen. No wonder, he still has a great fan following.

Besides performing comedy, he also had an opportunity to play serious type of roles in films like ‘Gol Gol Dabyatla‘, ‘One Room Kitchen‘ & recently released film ‘Halaal‘ . It is indeed admirable that he is still performing in films with the same enthusiasm , which he possessed 30 years ago. And, the best example is his forthcoming Marathi film ‘Hutansh’ , in which he plays a very different kind of comedy, which according to him is something special for him. Mr. Vijay Chavan is all praise for the producer s Aparna Pramod & Achchut Navlekar and young director Ankush Thakur. This film is all set to release on 10^th November 2017 all over Maharashtra.

Veteran Marathi actor Vijay Chavan known for his comedy roles on stage and screen, has been conferred with most prestigious Kalagaurav Life Time Achievement award by Sanskruti Kaladarpan( SKD) during their star studded annual awards function on Sunday. Reacting to this happy moment, Mr. Vijay Chavan, who is known for his humour filled speeches, said that this was his first Life Time Achievement award and thanked the organisers for considering him suitable for the same. “Now, I am expecting at least 9 more such awards in days to come, before retiring from this field” he added.

The award was presented to him by SKD Founder and President Mr. Chandrashekhar Sandve and Archana Nevrekar respectively, in presence of popular actress Smita Jaykar who is also associated with this group. Among the other popular awards presented on this occasion, Marathi drama ‘Code Mantra‘ and Marathi film ‘Ventilator‘ bagged maximum awards in different categories. In the television section serials ‘Saraswati‘ and ‘Duheri‘ bagged the popular serial awards.

Television stars Titiksha Tawde and Chinmay Udgirkar anchored the show, while Sonalee Kulkarni and Manasi Naik entertained the audience with their special performances on the occasion.

Well known Marathi actor Bharat Jadhav who had more than 25 releases between the year 2001 and 2010, had slowed down with his progress during the past five years. We have not even seen any hit film from him, though he has been doing well on stage and television. In the recent past, his films like ‘Shasan‘, ‘Aga bai Arechha-2‘, & ‘Chintamani‘, also did not do well. Five years ago i.e. sometime in 2011, we had seen the muhurat of his film ‘Ek Kutub Teen Minar’. The same film, is now releasing on 15th April 2016. So, Bharat has high hopes from this film, for his survival in this Marathi film industry.

‘Ek Kutub Teen Minar‘ is produced by Manoj Yadav & Anil Singh, under the banner of Big talkies and directed by  Sunil Kamble, with story-screenplay and dialogues written by Ashok Kambli. Besides Bharat Jadhav playing the lead role in this film, the film also stars Vijay Chavan, Vijay Kadam, Sanchit Yadav, Poornima Vavhal, Amruta Deshmukh, Gauri Kendre, Rasika Dhamankar, Chandu kamble, Priyanka Mungekar, Nitin Paregaonkar & others. Music by Vilas Gurav and DOP Raja Phadatare are other credits of the film.
