Synopsis :

‘Smile Please’ :  The trauma faced by the wife after divorce, while facing her teenage daughter, who hates her and lives with her husband.Nandini (Mukta Barve) a divorcee, who is an award winning fashion photographer, lives with her father (Satish Alekar) and housekeeper Jyoti (Trupti Khamkar). On few occasions, she keeps meeting her ex husband Shishir (Prasad Oak) and her around 12 year old daughter Nupur ( Vedashree Mahajan) . But, her daughter’s strange behaviour with her mother, disturbs Nandini, who undergoes disturbed state of mind. Life is not easy for her , as she has to keep away from her busy work schedule. At this crucial period of time, a little before the stroke of interval a youngster Viraj ( Lalit Prabhakar) who is known to her father’s friend walks in their house, as a guest for few days. Viraj wins the trust of all members of the family, except Shishir, who hates him….

Having made his debut as a director in Marathi film industry through an emotion filled drama ‘Hridayantar’ two years ago, renowned Bollywood Costume designer Vikram Phadnis has now returned with another Marathi film ‘Smile Please’. While in his previous film Vikram presented the marital crisis of a couple married over 12 years, yet glued to their brittle married life, in the present film he presents the trauma faced by the wife after divorce, while facing her teenage daughter, who hates her and lives with her husband.

Nandini (Mukta Barve) a divorcee, who is an award winning fashion photographer, lives with her father (Satish Alekar) and housekeeper Jyoti (Trupti Khamkar). On few occasions, she keeps meeting her ex husband Shishir (Prasad Oak) and her around 12 year old daughter Nupur ( Vedashree Mahajan) . But, her daughter’s strange behaviour with her mother, disturbs Nandini, who undergoes disturbed state of mind. Life is not easy for her , as she has to keep away from her busy work schedule. At this crucial period of time, a little before the stroke of interval a youngster Viraj ( Lalit Prabhakar) who is known to her father’s friend walks in their house, as a guest for few days. So, in the post interval stage we notice how the efforts of Viraj help Nandini to face such a situation by regaining her self confidence . He also helps Nupur to understand her mother . In short, Viraj plays a good Samaritan. ‘Smile Please’ is a good effort from director Vikram Phadnis selecting a social problem which exists in families where both husband and wife have busy lifestyle. He has also shown the way but his screenplay really takes off only after the arrival of Viraj, however, the interaction between Trupti Khamkar in the role of Jyoti, the housekeeper and Satish Alekar (as Nandini’s father) , helps bring some humour into the screenplay.

Nevertheless, the performances by Mukta Barve, Prasad Oak, Satish Alekar, Lalit Prabhakar, Aditi Govitrikar and Vedashree helps give a realistic look to the film. Mukta Barve in particular has stole the show with her superb performance. Music has limited scope in this film, with two songs, but Rohan-Rohan have made their presence felt . Costumes designing done by Vikram Phadnis is no doubt worth appreciating, but above all, it is the photography by Milind Jog which impresses the most. Though this film deals with a serious subject, it is certainly a worth watch film for the sake of superb performances by the main artistes.

Marathi films are bringing in the desired change, as far the presentation of serious and thought provoking subjects are concerned. It all began with ‘Shwaas‘ and recently we saw a film ‘Braveheart‘ handling a serious subject with a timely message. Latest released Marathi film which is a debut film for Bollywood fashion designer turned director Vikram Phadnis, offers one more serious subject in an artistic way.

‘Hrudayantar‘ is actually an emotional drama, which revolves around a well off couple Shekhar and Samaira Joshi( Subodh Bhave & Mukta Barve) married for over 12 years and now preparing for separation. The reason is simple, as workaholic Shekhar a successful hotelier, cannot find time for his wife Samaira, who in spite of being a working woman, also manages household matters skillfully. She also gives much required time and affection to her two little daughters Nitya and Nysha (Trushnika Shinde & Nishtha Vaidya). Dancing becomes a passion for 10 year old Nitya, while Nysha excels in athletics. The girls get all luxuries in life, but are witness to the verbal fights between their parents most of the time.

As the couple is all set for a break up, their elder daughter Nitya is diagnosed with a serious ailment and this puts her near and dear ones into turmoil. But, through this period, the family learns the importance of real family bonding. ‘Hrudayantar‘ is certainly not an entertaining film, but is a serious story very well given a cinematic form, to give a realistic look. Both Subodh Bhave and Mukta Barve are at their best, as expected. Interestingly, Mukta also plays the narrator of this film. But, talented child artiste Trushnika Shinde, steals the show with her spontaneous expressions in all important scenes especially in the post interval session.

Good support comes from another child artiste Nishtha Vaidya, apart from other senior artistes like Meena Naik, Sonali Khare & Ameet Khedekar. Other Popular artistes like Atul Parchure, Vishakha Subhedar, Amol Bavdekar, Shiamak Davar , Manish Paul and above all popular Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan are seen in cameo roles. Dr. Namjoshi, in whose CritiCare Hospital in Juhu, the film has been shot, also makes a special appearance.

Wonderful cinematography by Dilshad V.A and superb background music by Praful Karlekar give a polished look to this film. Well written dialogues by Rohini Ninawe for every situation catch the attention of the audience. Vikram Phadnis direction on debut is also worth appreciating, though he could have made  ‘Hrudayantar‘ film more interesting. He has however shot the most important emotion filled scenes very cleverly, including that of Hrithik Roshan, without making the actor utter a singles dialogue.

Sensitive audience is sure to shed tears during most of the scenes, in the concluding part of this film. All in all, ‘Hrudayantar‘ is an artistically presented film, which needs sensible audience to appreciate. The film is surely in the race to win popular awards for the year 2017.

We have often seen involvement of Bollywood stars during the promotion of Marathi films, to invite the attention of Marathi film lovers. Either they give clap of the muhurat shot or release the music of the film. Now, Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan announced the release date of Bollywood fashion designer Vikram Phadnis Marathi film ‘Hrudayantar’ recently. It may be recalled that another Superstar Shahrukh Khan had given the muhurat clap of ‘Hrudayantar’ film.

Hrithik Roshan made announcement of the release date of this film as 9^th June 2017, on social networking site, stating that he was proud to be associated with this film. The film stars Mukta Barve, Subodh Bhave and Sonali Khare in the lead roles. The film ‘Hrudayantar’ is jointly produced by Vikram Phadnis Productions and Young Berry Entertainment of Pratap Sarnaik and his son Purvesh Sarnaik and is directed by Vikram Phadnis himself.

विक्रम फडणीस प्रॉडक्शन, यंग बेरी एन्टरटेन्मेट ह्यांच्या ‘हृदयांतर‘ ह्या चित्रपटात मुक्ता बर्वे आणि सुबोध भावे ह्यांच्या मुख्य भुमिका आहेत. ‘हृदयांतर‘ हा एक भावनिक चित्रपट आहे. गेली तीन दशकं सिनेसृष्टीत कोरिओग्राफर-गायक म्हणून नावारूपाला आल्यावर शामक दावर आता मराठी चित्रपटासाठी पहिल्यांदाच नृत्यदिग्दर्शन करताना दिसणार आहेत.

We are all aware that popular Bollywood fashion designer Vikram Phadnis recently launched his Marathi film ‘Hrudayantar‘ with Mukta Barve and Subodh Bhave in the lead roles. The muhurat clap of this film was given by Shahrukh Khan, when Abbas & Mastan were also present to bless Vikram Phadnis. Now, we understand that the entire technical crew of famous Bollywood filmmakers Abbas – Mastan are working on this project. It is for the first time that the entire technical crew of a Bollywood film is working on a Marathi film.

It may be recalled that Vikram Phadnis had worked with Abbas – Mastan for their 10 film projects. Now, it is the time for the film maker duo to oblige their friend Vikram Phadnis and that’s how we find their team working for him. Right from the DOP their assistants and many other technicians are involved with this film’s project. So, obviously we expect more and more Bollywood personalities to come forward to promote ‘Hrudayantar’ film, before its release.

Recently we heard about the launch of Vikram Phadnis Marathi film ‘Hrudayantar‘ starring Subodh Bhave and Mukta Barve in the lead role. Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan had given the muhurat clap of this film. Now, this film is in the news once again, as popular we understand that TV anchor and actor Manish Paul will be making his debut in Marathi films, through this film.

Manish Paul is playing his own self in ‘Hrudayantar‘ film, which is an emotion filled story, presented by producers Vikram Phadnis and Pratap Sarnaik along with his son Purvesh Sarnaik and directed by Vikram Phadnis. Manish Paul could not say ‘no’ to his friend Vikram, when he approached him to play this guest role as a chief guest, while shooting for a scene of school’s annual sports day programme. Reacting on his experience of working in a Marathi film, Manish said that, “It was a good experience for him to be amongst school children and he really enjoyed it“.
