His destiny made him an actor. When Sanjay Narvekar joined Mumbai’s Ruia College, he was good at Cricket and Football. One day his close friend who was into dramatics was in deep trouble, as one of the performers from the group had dropped out and they were searching for a substitute almost at the eleventh hour. The group was to perform at the Inter Collegiate Drama competition. The friend approached Sanjay and like a good friend in need, he agreed to perform. He was then produced before Patil Sir, who asked Sanjay whether he would be able to deliver without practice. And Sanjay said,’Yes’. Looking at the confidence of the young boy, he was inducted into the cast and the play ‘ Koliya Raja’ went on to win the prize for best play. Sanjay could not get any individual award but his decision to perform without practice had boosted the morale of the group. No one predicted that day that that this boy would soon become a star.
Today, Sanjay has to his credit more than 25 Hindi films in different roles, a sizable number of Marathi films with lead and variety of roles and above all few hit plays through which he has entertained one and all non stop. His latest play ‘Bajirao Mast Me’ is creating waves all over Maharashtra and reaching popularity heights.
Nominated as Best Supporting Actor for Hindi movie ‘Vaastav’
“If I were not an actor, I would have been a cricketer or a footballer.” – Sanjay Narvekar

Her talent has already been noticed in Star Pravah’s popular serial ‘Agnihotra‘. However, being in the company of multi-star cast, she has limited scope to prove her worth. But, with the beginning of ‘Kunku‘ on Zee Marathi at prime time, Mrunmayee Deshpande has suddenly caught the attention of viewers. In ‘Kunku‘ Mrunmayee Deshpande plays the central character of Janaki and with the progress of every episode, she is adding more and more admirers to her rising list of fans. Not many are aware of her debut in Hindi film ‘Humne Jeena Seekh Liya‘ which was released in the beginning of 2008. In this film she played the lead opposite Siddharth Chandekar, also a newcomer. The film was based on the popular novel ‘Shaala‘ written by Milind Bokil and was directed by Milind Ukey, (assistant director to Sanjay Leela Bhansali).
Mother-Pratibha and grandparents- Kala and Arvind Kane with their theatre background motivate Today, Mrunmayee is considered to be the most promising young star on TV, for her simplicity and theatre background. Her spontaneity at a given situation and her sharp looks with communicative eyes has made her stand apart. Having been brought up in Pune and studied from S.P. College, the cultural hub of Pune, the stage was already set for her entry into the field of acting. With timely support from family members, Mrunmayee Deshpande could progress further.
