‘Vrundavan’ progressing fast, towards completion
There was a time when marathi film producers used to shoot at studios in Kolhapur and old houses in Konkan, due to financial constraint. But after the success of a few marathi films at the box office, there’s a change in the attitude of the producers, who have become liberal in selecting good locations. Also a lot of non-marathi producers have started investing in the projects, giving a rich-look to marathi cinema. This is evident, as an upcoming marathi movie ‘Vrundavan’ recently hired an expensive location, usually patronised by top hindi film makers, i.e. Aayush Resort, to shoot a few important climax scenes.
Produced under the banner Realistic Film Company, by producers Raj Prem, Sandeep Sharma and Sunil Khandpur, ‘Vrundavan’ is being directed by a debutant director TLV Prasad. The makers claim the movie to be a complete entertainer, which has all the ‘masala’ of love, song, dance, emotion, comedy, action etc. Also, the cast of the film boasts of veteran stalwarts like Mahesh Manjrekar, Ashok Saraf, Mohan Joshi, Sharad Ponkshe, Uday Tikekar & Bharat Ganeshpure. Hindi television star Rakesh Bapat is making his Marathi film debut as a lead hero with ‘Vrundavan’ and is ably supported by Pooja Sawant and Vaidehi Parsurami.
Bollywood’s famous choreographer, Ganesh Acharya, is hired to set dances and Amit Raj is composing the music. There’s is a talk about one of the hindi film’s popular faces, doing an ‘item’ song for the movie.
Bharat Jadhav to compete with four Marathi films

Not very long ago, he was the king of Marathi films, with all his traditional comedy films inviting the attention of Marathi film lovers for almost 15 years. Bharat is still noticed in Marathi films; but, more with character or guest roles. His last film ‘Aga Bai Arechya2′ in which he played one of the ‘would be’ husbands of Sonali Kulkarni was released only last week.
This week, we find four big banner Marathi films being released. But, Bharat is not part of any one of them. On the contrary, he will be competing with all these four films, with his much talked about Hindi film ‘P Se PM Tak’, which is also releasing simultaneously, coming Friday. This hindi film , directed by Kundan Shah (‘Jane Bhi Do yaro’ fame) has Bharat playing a prominent role of a politician. Moreover, the film has a backdrop of Satara district place, in Maharashtra.
So, it remains to be seen, whether Bharat will be able to pull his fans towards him, to watch this Hindi film, instead of any one of the four Marathi films, releasing together.

Four Marathi films have lined up for release this Friday

Come Friday and we will notice the release of four Marathi films together, creating a competition among themselves. They are ‘Siddhant’, ‘Prime Time’, ‘A Paying Ghost’ and ‘Dhurandhar Bhatawdekar’. Barring ‘Siddhant’, which seems to be sensible film based on the principles of Mathematics creating light comedy, the other three seem to be traditional entertainers.
‘Siddhant’ which is produced by three well known film makers, namely Nilesh Navalakha, Vivek Kajaria & Amit ahirrao, is directed by Vivek Wagh and is a story of a wonderful relationship between Grandfather and his grandson. Vikram Gokhale who plays the central character of a grandfather, is likely to steal the show.
‘Prime Time’ which is produced by Himanshu Kesari Patil and directed by Pramod kashyap, is a story of Vaishali Apte, played by Sulekha Talwalkar and her craze about small screen. How she takes her family on an adventure filled journey, is all that the film is about. ‘Dhurandhar Bhatwadekar’ deals with the interaction of these personalities with situations and events. It is a typical entertaining film, with a simple concept, based on the differences between diverse personalities of people. With the presence of characters representing different age groups, it may turn out to be a family entertainer. A lot is expected from Veterans Mohan Joshi and Dr.Mohan Agashe .
‘A Paying Ghost’, as the title suggest, is a tale of a big family of ghosts living in the house of a young man called Mama, played by Umesh Kamat. How this family of ghosts interfere in the life of this Mama and his beloved Mami, played by Spruha Joshi, is what the screenplay of this film is about. Now, it is for the Marathi theatre audience to decide, what is their choice during coming week end.

Relationships are an integral part of human life and the emotions involved therein, makes it more satisfying. Almost all the filmmakers deal with various types of emotions, highlighting a particular relationship. Now, a father-son relationship in the modern world, will be seen in an upcoming marathi film ‘Bedardi’.
