Simultaneous releases of Marathi films has become common these days. Last week we saw ‘Muramba‘ and ‘FU‘ releasing together and now on Friday 9^thJune two more Marathi films are releasing together. They are ‘Itemgiri‘ and ‘Dhondi‘. Both these films are having different themes. While ‘Itemgiri‘ Produced by a big team of producers Arvind Chandak, Rahul Boob, Vikas Mundada, Amit Taware, Pradeep Beldare & Santosh Kadam and directed jointly by Pradeep Tonge, Mangesh Shendge will be a love story of teenagers, starring ‘Fandry‘ fame Rajeshwari Kharat and ‘Dhag‘ fame National award winning actor Hansraj Jagtap, ‘Dhondi‘ will present an emotion filled story of a farmer’s son.

Popular character actor Sayaji Shinde plays the role of a farmer in this film, while another national award winning actor Vivek Chabukswar also has an important role in this film. Pooja Pawar who had made her film debut with Ajinkya Deo in the film; ‘Sarjaa‘ exactly 30 years ago, will also be seen in this film in lead role. ‘Dhondi‘ directed by Monish Pawar and produced by Shivajirao Jadhav, Santosh Sutar & Nikhi Nagude also stars Usha Naik, Kishore Chougule and Raghavendra Kadkol and is expected to pass a social message through its emotion filled story. On the other hand ‘Itemgiri‘ , which is a musical love story is likely to target the young audience. However, the weekend will decide the fate of these two films.

Till now, many Marathi films have dealt with the issue of farmer’s suicides in Maharashtra. But, there has been no solution to this serious issue. Some films have blamed the administration. But, that has not helped to stop the suicides of farmers. Now, producers Shivajirao Jadhav, Santosh Sutar and Nikhil Nangude under the banner of Soil Events and Entertainment are presenting a Marathi film ‘Dhondi‘ which will actually focus on the living conditions of the farmers and show the way to those living in cities, to bring such farmers into mainstream.

Director Monish Uddhav Pawar feels that is a farmer gets the right price for his crop, he would not attempt suicide. He is also confident that his film would help prevent many farmers from committing suicides. The film stars National award winning actor Vivek Chabukswar along with Sayaji Shinde, Pooja Pawar, Kishore Chougule, Raghavendra Kadkol, Suhasini Deshpande, Usha Naik and late Vinay Apte. By the way, this will be the last released film of Vinay Apte and hence the film will be a tribute to this late actor. Music by Kiran Raj and cinematography by Dinesh Satankar are the other credits. The film ‘Dhondi‘ is all set to release on 9^th June 2017 and will be a timely film highlighting issues of farmers.
