‘Dhondi’ will be a timely film highlighting issues of farmers
Till now, many Marathi films have dealt with the issue of farmer’s suicides in Maharashtra. But, there has been no solution to this serious issue. Some films have blamed the administration. But, that has not helped to stop the suicides of farmers. Now, producers Shivajirao Jadhav, Santosh Sutar and Nikhil Nangude under the banner of Soil Events and Entertainment are presenting a Marathi film ‘Dhondi‘ which will actually focus on the living conditions of the farmers and show the way to those living in cities, to bring such farmers into mainstream.
Director Monish Uddhav Pawar feels that is a farmer gets the right price for his crop, he would not attempt suicide. He is also confident that his film would help prevent many farmers from committing suicides. The film stars National award winning actor Vivek Chabukswar along with Sayaji Shinde, Pooja Pawar, Kishore Chougule, Raghavendra Kadkol, Suhasini Deshpande, Usha Naik and late Vinay Apte. By the way, this will be the last released film of Vinay Apte and hence the film will be a tribute to this late actor. Music by Kiran Raj and cinematography by Dinesh Satankar are the other credits. The film ‘Dhondi‘ is all set to release on 9th June 2017 and will be a timely film highlighting issues of farmers.
