After receiving this award, Chhaya said, “Winning this prestigious Maharashtra State award is a big achievement for me. This also makes my family members very happy besides myself. This award also indicates how much people love my work. I don’t think anything else is important than this award.” Chhaya was also all praise for Ravi Jadhav.

It may be recalled that Chhaya made the beginning of her acting career with Waman Kendre’s play ‘Jhulwa‘ and later made her debut in Marathi films through ‘Baimanoos‘ with the help of Arun Nalawade. Chhaya was also part of Nagraj Manjule’s two award-winning films, namely ‘Fandry‘ and ‘Sairat‘ in which she played prominent roles.

The nude figure is a traditional Western art. Actually, a ‘nude’ is a work of fine art which has its primary subject as unclothed human body. Using this form of art, film maker Ravi Jadhav has presented his latest released Marathi film ‘Nude‘.

It may be recalled that Marathi film makers who are known for offering unconventional subjects through their films, have never compromised on their story line, if they want to offer something very realistic. And therefore, new Marathi film ‘Nude‘ is the best example. This film presents a touching tale, which shows how a helpless woman Yamuna (Kalyanee Mulay) leaves her village along with her son, to get rid of her abusive husband, who regularly sleeps with another woman.

Yamuna lands in Mumbai at her aunt’s Chandrakka ( Chhaya Kadam) place, who works as a sweeper at J.J. School of Arts for the past 18 years; but actually she also poses as a nude model for senior batch of students, who are required to draw such paintings as part of their syllabus. Chandrakka does this, as her husband loses his job in a mill. Soon Yamuna, who is also in search of a job, comes to know about Chandrakka’s work. Initially she does not approve this kind of work, but when Chandrakka convinces her that it is safe, she too agrees to play Nude model, for the sake of her son, whom she wants to offer best education.

Time comes, when Chandrakka’s son attains teenage, and he too shows his skills in drawing. So, Yamuna sends him to Aurangabad for studies, as she doesn’t want him to join the college, where she plays nude model. To meet the rising expenses of her son’s education, Yamuna starts taking up private assignments for renowned painters. A student from the college who later turns a lecturer( Om Bhutkar) accompanies her for such assignments, at her request. One such renowned painter is played by Naseeruddin Shah, whose character resembles a former celebrity painter , who was banned from entering India due to controversy over drawing nude paintings .

The film reaches at an interesting stage, when Yamuna expects her son to understand the sacrifice of his mother in offering him good education. But, does that really happen? The director has kept the audience guessing. He unveils the answer in the climax, which regular film goers may not like. But, art film lovers will surely appreciate this conclusion, for its realistic touch. Performances in ‘Nude‘ film by lead artistes are simply top class. Both Kalyanee Mulay and Chhaya Kadam have impressed through their characters. They have received good support from Shrikant Yadav, Om Bhutkar, Madan Deodhar & others. Kishore Kadam and Neha Joshi are namesake in this film, with nothing much to do. What is highly impressive is the superb cinematography by Amalendu Choudhary, who has brought liveliness in every frame shot by him skillfully. A fine support also comes from music and sound design.

As suggested through the title, there is nothing vulgar in this film. In fact, this film sends across a strong message through artistic presentation.

Being already in news due to its controversial title, Director Ravi Jadhav‘s Marathi film ‘Nude(Chitra)‘ is now getting ready for release all over Maharashtra on 27^th April 2018. For the first time in the history of J.J.School of Arts College, a press conference of a film was held recently and that too on the international women’s day. On this occasion, director Ravi Jadhav, Zee talkies representative Mangesh Kulkarni, Athang Communication’s Meghna Jadhav, writer Sachin Kundalkar , artistes of this film, namely Kalyani Mulye, Chhaya Kadam, Om Bhutkar, Madan Deodhar and technical team members were present.

The film ‘Nude(Chitra)‘ does have a strong subject, as it presents the story of a Nude Model Yamuna, who does this job only to earn money to educate her son. During the press conference Kalyani Mulye, who plays this important role in the film, spoke to the real life Model who has been doing this work in the arts college for the past 30 years. And the model replied that she has always felt proud of her job, as the students over the years have always looked upon her as god. She feels happy that a film has been made on this subject. Director Ravi Jadhav also expressed his confidence that his film will be accepted as an art by film lovers, as there is nothing vulgar in the film.

Amlendu Choudhari has done the cinematography of ‘Nude(Chitra)‘ film , while the two songs in the film have been written and composed by Sayali Khare and Vidya Rao.

Marilyn Monroe once said, “Sex is a part of nature. I go along with nature.” Based on this philosophy, producers Rahul Borse, Abdul R.C., Somnath Devkar and Jeevan Patil, perhaps thought of producing this Marathi film ‘Chitrafit- 3.0 Megapixel’ and with the help of writer, director and editor Diwakar Vishwanath Ghodke, they gave a cinematic form to this subject. But, care was taken to pass a social message, by cautioning the young girls, about the hidden cameras, which could capture their private life, even in the mountain forest , during a trek.
Set on the backdrop of a picturesque hilly area called Parini , the film literally takes you on a trek to a adivasi village housed on a mountain and in search of ancient caves located on the top of the mountain . So, you feel, as if you are also travelling along with Shavla (Seema Azmi) a visiting young anthropology student and Sandesh (Ashish Pathode) a fine arts student, who is her guide cum escort. In between their journey, the director gives a hint that every movement of Shavla is being captured, through a hidden camera.

Then we notice Sandesh and Shavla reaching their first destination, for a brief halt at a adivasi village. Here, we notice a typical Hindi film scene of 60s and 70s film, with Shavla dressing up as an adivasi girl and enjoying their group dance and even a drink. The film’s screenplay proceeds further, with Shavla and Sandesh reaching their final destination i.e. the ancient cave with stone carvings and paintings. It is at this place, we come to know the real game plan of sandesh. Perhaps, the use of ‘date rape drug’ (DRD) , mixed with her drink, makes it easy for him.

It is only after few days , while working on her laptop, Shavla discovers her own nude film on a social networking site. Though Sandesh happens to be her distant relative and a friend on social networking site, she informs the police and gets him arrested, for this heinous crime. But, the question that remains in our mind, is whether any young girl would dare to spend a night at an isolated place, in the company of a boy, whom she doesn’t know well ?
‘Chitrafit- 3.0 Megapixel’ is actually a short film, with a message. And, with the above mentioned story of Sandesh and Shavla, it would have ended in 60 to 70 minutes. But, the director perhaps thought of adding few porno film scenes into it, to indicate the ‘blue film’ business of Sandesh and his modus operandi, trapping new girls, to make such films and sell them to overseas buyers at a big price. It is in the concluding part, the film looks like a typical Porn film. No wonder, it has received ‘A’ certification.

There was enough scope for the director to pay attention on Shavla taking revenge in a different way. But, that did not happen. The arrest of Sandesh by Special branch Police, is shown in just one short concluding scene, in this 84 minute length film. Both Ashish Pathode and Seema Azmi have performed their roles convincingly. Ashish is recently seen in Zee Marathi’s serial ‘Ka Re Durava’ in a character role. Hence, a familiar face, while we have seen Seema as one of the girls in the hockey team of ‘Chak De India!’. She is basically from NSD and a stage artist. This was her bold debut in Marathi films. Her voice has been dubbed in Marathi by some one else.
Wonderful camera work, Excellent sound design and superb back ground music add value to this film. This is a first bold attempt in Marathi on this subject. So, it remains to be seen, whether the ‘bold will hold good’ in Marathi?
