The 70^th National best film awards have been announced recently. Paresh Mokashi’s film ‘Vaalvi’  has bagged the best Marathi film National award this year. This thrill-com film produced by Zee Studios and Maysabha Karmanook Mandali is directed by Paresh Mokashi. With story, screenplay and dialogues by Paresh Mokashi and Madugandha Kulkarni, this film stars Swapnil Joshi, Anita Date, Subodh Bhave and Shivani Surve in the lead roles.

‘Vaalvi’ being the first Marathi thrill-com film had received good response even from Non Marathi film lovers, because of its new subject. Reacting to this happy moment, Director Paresh Mokashi said, “This is a very happy moment. This award is not my individual award, but it is for my entire team. I am also grateful to the audience.

‘Behind every successful man there is a woman’, as she is the one who lays a firm foundation with the bricks that others have thrown at her husband. And at the same time, ‘Behind every successful woman there is a man’, as he is the one who believed in his wife, when nobody else did. But, do you know that, ‘Behind every successful working woman there is a housemaid’. To find out the reason, you will have to watch the latest released Marathi film ‘Nach Ga Ghuma’.

Incidentally, Marathi cinema is known for offering some thought provoking subjects, which are targeted at mass audience. Today’s city lifestyle is such that every person in the house is dependent on others. And when you think about a working couple with their school going kid, their dependability is more on a sincere housemaid, who should be able to manage the house and their kid.

‘Nach Ga Ghuma’ directed by Paresh Mokashi presents two such working women who have sweet and sour relationship between them. They are, Rani ( Mukta Barve) and her housemaid – Ashatai ( Namrata Sambherao). In this film, we find a small family comprising of Anand (Sarang Sathye) and his wife Rani busy with their respective jobs. They have a 6 year old school going daughter Sayali alias Chiku ( Myra Vaikul). To manage the house and their little daughter, they hire the services of a housemaid for 12 hours a day. The family is so dependent on Ashatai that even her late arrival on duty by 15-30 mins, upsets their daily schedule. Especially, Rani who has to suffer the most, as she has to face the heat in office from her boss.

Director Paresh Mokashi has presented this interesting subject in an entertaining way in the first half. In the second half he tries to highlight the emotional attachment among all the characters with some interesting happenings, to keep the audience engaged. Though the climax in predictable, the film certainly succeeds in entertaining the audience, with wonderful performances from all the artistes. While Mukta, Sarang, Myra are at their best, the actress who steals the show is Namrata Sambherao. Through this film, she could offer not only comedy in which she is at her best, but also her emotional feelings very well. Sharmistha Raut, Madugandha Kulkarni , Sukanya Kulkarni, Supriya Pathak, Sunil Abhyankar have offered good support through their respective characters, while Swapnil Joshi and Lalit Prabhakar have little to do through their special appearance.

‘Nach Ga Ghuma’ is a well presented film with a good social message, offered by director Paresh Mokashi, who has also extracted the best out of all the artistes. He has received good support from music director Tanmay Bhide, cinematographer Sandeep GN Yadav and Faisal Mahadik with his perfect editing work. It’s a family entertainer. No wonder the film is still drawing good crowds at cinema theatres in the 2nd week. So, Don’t miss it.

Before its official theatre release on 6th October 2023, Marathi film ‘Aatmapamphlet’ has been receiving good response from international film festivals.After getting selected at 73rd Berlin International Film Festival, this film has now won the ‘Asia Pacific Young Audience Award’ at Queensland, Australia. There were entries from about 70 countries for this film festival. Three films were selected from this competition and ‘Atmapamphlet’ turned out to be one of them, besides Indonesian and Malaysian films.

Made under the banner of Maysabha Karmanook Mandali and presented by Gulshan Kumar,T Series,Color Yellow Productions and Zee Studios this film is directed by Ashish Avinash Bende and stars Om Bendkhale, Pranjali Shrikant Bhimrao Mude and Ketki Saraf in lead roles. Story of this film is written by Paresh Mokashi.

Speaking about his film director Ashish Avinash Bende says, “ I am really gald that our film has received so much of appreciation from audience in Australia. This film was screened at four places in Australia, including Brisbane and the stdudents’ Jury saw this film. They interacted video conferencing with the directors of the three shortlisted films and only thereafter the award was presented to our film.”

A new trend has already been set on the lines of Bollywood in Marathi cinema, to make Part 2 of a successful film. Recently, to celebrate the birthday of renowned director Paresh Mokashi and also success part of his recently released Marathi film ‘Vaalvi’, writer director Madhugandha Kulkarni, Paresh Mokashi and Mangesh Kulkarni Studios had come together. On this occasion, an official announcement was made about ‘Vaalvi 2′.

Speaking about making Part 2 of ‘Vaalvi’ Madhugandha and Paresh said that they received good response from the audience, after watching ‘Vaalvi’ starring Swapnil Joshi, Anita Date Kelkar, Subodh Bhave and Shivani Surve in the lead roles. “They liked the film so much that it is successfully running in the 4^th week in cinema halls. This encouraged us to make official announcement of ‘Vaalvi-2. This 2^nd part will be filled with more suspense,” they said.

Now, there is a big suspense over the star cast of this part 2, which is yet to be announced.

Zee Talkies and Paresh Mokashi have together in the past released two successful films ‘Elizabeth Ekadashi’ and ‘Chi va Chi Sou Ka’ Now, their next film ‘Vaalvi’ is all set for release on 13^th January 2023. To make this announcement Director Paresh Mokashi has released an unusual  teaser , in which we see him talking to the four lead artistes of the film, telling them the subject of the film, which highlights ‘termite’ a dangerous insect which feds on wood.

However, there is a lot of curiosity among the film lovers, as to what type of characters the four lead artistes in the film , namely Swapnil Joshi, Anita Date, Subodh Bhave and Shivani Surve will be playing in this film. Incidentally, ‘Vaalvi’ was won the Best film award at the 13^th Chicago South Asian Film Festival and therefore there are big hopes from this film. Even otherwise, Zee Talkies and Paresh Mokashi will make a hat trick with this film’s release.

Zee Studios Film ‘Walvi (वाळवी)’ directed by Paresh Mokashi has won the Best film award at the 13th Chicago South Asian Film Festival. It may be recalled that writer-director Paresh Mokashi has so far given two out of the box films like ‘Elizabeth Ekadashi’ and ‘Chi Vi Sau Ka’ in association with Zee Studios and have won several awards for these films.

Reacting to the present success achieved by ‘Valvi’ Paresh Mokashi said, “Finding our film’s screening itself at this prestigious film festival was a big thing and therefore winning the Best film award is the happiest moment for the entire team.” Zee Studios Business Head Mangesh Kulkarni also reacted, “With this latest award, there is one more feather in the cap of Zee Studios. And, this is very good for the further journey of this film. There was a big competition in this film festival and therefore winning the Best film award is big achievement for all of us.”

To keep the audience engaged throughout the film, should be the sole motive of an entertaining film. Especially, when the theme of the film is based on comedy, there are big expectations from the director of the film. Paresh Mokashi, who directed the films like ‘Harishchandrachi Factory‘ and ‘Elizabeth Ekadashi‘ has now presented his latest film ‘Chi Va Chi Sau Ka‘, raising expectations from the Marathi film audience. But, the film has turned out to be a casual entertainer.

The film presents the story of two youngsters Savitri( Mrinmayee Godbole) and Satya ( Lalit Prabhakar), who are from different fields. While Satya is an Electronics engineer, who is very much concerned about water conservation, Savitri is a Veterinary doctor, who is very much against anyone harming an insect or an animal. Both of them are brought together by their respective family members, with an arranged marriage. But, Savitri, in spite of knowing Satya through her friend, puts a condition that she would marry Satya, provided she is given a chance live with him on a trial basis for few days, to understand him.
In spite of opposition from parents , Satya accepts this condition and both of them live together in a room, only to create misunderstandings among family members from both the sides. There are fights between them. Then, we also notice Savitri fighting like a kid with her elder sister who is pregnant and younger school going brother. Most of the time in this film has been wasted in unnecessary quarrels between different characters, who sound loud.

Actually, what the film maker wanted to show, he could not present in two hours and thirteen minutes, due to poor screenplay and limited content. Initially, through another couple separating after their court marriage, he clearly hinted that all love marriages are not successful, showing the instant break up of a young couple, who could not stay without each other’s company earlier.

However, in the case of Satya and Savitri, he has tried to show that ‘Live in relationship‘ is the only way to understand each other, no matter how much time it takes? Today, in the name of comedy and entertainment, anything is being offered and some our Bollywood films are the best example. This film has tried nothing different from such films. Now, how the audience would accept this idea, remains a big question.

Performances from the artistes are just fine, but all of them are too loud and quarrelling with each other most of the time, which has taken away the interest from the subject of ‘Chi Va Chi Sau Ka‘ film. Music composed by Narendra Bhide is just fine, but the sound recording and the fine photography by Sudhir Palsane, have turned out to be the plus points of  ‘Chi Va Chi Sau Ka‘ film.

After offering National award winning film ‘Elizabeth Ekadashi’, renowned director Paresh Mokashi is back with the support of Zee Studios to offer his next Marathi film ‘Chi Va Chi Sau Ka’, which is all set to release on 19^th May 2017.  Recently, trailer of this film was launched in presence of artistes and makers of this film along with singers and lyricist Swanand Kirkire.

Written by Paresh Mokashi and Madhugandha Kulkarni , the story of this film revolves around a young couple Satyaprakash and Savitri played by Lalit Prabhakar and Mrunmayee Godbole respectively. While Satyaprakash is an electrical engineer, Savitri is a Veterinary doctor. Both are busy with their profession and firm on their decisions. And, it’s an arrange marriage for them. The post marriage  happenings in their life have been presented in humorous way in this film.
