Marathi experimental plays have always been stepping stone for many renowned artistes in Marathi film and television industry. The subjects handled by such plays have always been timely and sensational to invite the attention of audience towards a social issue. Now, new Marathi experimental play ‘Var Khali Don Paay’ written and directed by Hrishikesh Koli has a reference to yesteryear’s popular Marathi play ‘Purush’, while voicing against sexual abuse to women.
Recently, the premiere of this new play was held with a grand show at Rangsharada Auditorium, Bandra, in presence of many prominent celebrities from Bollywood and Marathi film industry like, Sunil Shetty, Shekhar Suman, KK Menon, Rakhee Sawant, Ramesh Deo, Seema Deo, Rohini Hattangadi, Nikhil Ratnaparakhi, Ashwini Bhave,Swanand Kirkire besides Nitin Sardesai. The play is produced by Vaishali Rahul Bhosale & Sugandha Suhas kamble and presented by Chaitanya Akolkar.

Our Marathi theatre is always known for offering something different, to meet with the requirements of the audience, who are looking for a change. We are all aware that writer Jaywant Dalvi’s Marathi play ‘Purush‘ had offered sensational subject on Marathi stage way back in 1986. Now, set on the backdrop of this famous play, Young writer Hrishikesh Koli has gone one step ahead to offer a new experiment, through his new Marathi play ‘Var Khali Don Paay‘.

Through ‘Var Khali Don Paay‘ play, the writer presents today’s artistes going in search of the mind set of the characters and finding them enter into different roles, refusing to perform their original roles allotted to them by the original writer. Therefore, inviting a conflict between an actor and his character. The subject of this play has been in the news, ever since the rehearsals of this play were going on for the past two and a half months. The special show of this play performed at Prithvi Theatre had seen a full house.

Now, the inaugural show of ‘Var Khali Don Paay‘ play will be staged at Pune’s Bharat Natya Mandir on 16^th June at 9 pm. Renowned artistes from Marathi commercial theatre and television will be performing in this play and the trailer of this play has also received very good response. The names of the artistes are, Sushil Inamdar, Rohan Gujar, Sangram Samel, Pallavi Patil,Mayura Joshi, Amey Borkar, Ajit Sawant, Smruti Patkar & Chandrakant Mehendale. The play is presented by Astitva group.

मराठी रंगभूमीवर नाटकाचा पुढचा भाग लिहण्याची मोठी परंपरा आहे, पण त्या दरम्यान काय घडले असेल याचा स्वतंत्र नाट्यकृती म्हणून विचार करण्याचा प्रयत्न अपवादाने झाला आहे. हा वेगळा प्रयत्न ठरवून घडावा आणि नवे काही हाती लागावे म्हणून ‘अस्तित्व ‘ या प्रयोगशील नाट्यसंस्थेने ‘त्या दरम्यान ‘ हा उपक्रम हाती घेतला आहे. या नव्या लेखन प्रयोगातली पहिली संहिता लिहली आहे, ती युवा नाट्यलेखक हृषीकेश कोळी याने. त्याने जयवंत दळवी यांच्या ‘पुरुष ‘ नाटकावर आधारित त्या दरम्यान ‘वर खाली दोन पाय ‘ या दीर्घांकाच्या रूपाने शब्दबद्ध केले आहे. गुलाबराव, अंबिका, सिद्धार्थ या अजरामर झालेल्या पुरुष मधल्या पात्रांच्या व्यक्त होण्याच्या त्या दरम्यान लेखक नेमके काय मांडणार याबद्दल नाट्य वर्तुळात विशेष उत्सुकता आहे.

उद्या रविवारी २८ फेब्रुवारीला संध्याकाळी सहा वाजता कुकुज क्लब,पाली हिल,कँडीज कॅफे जवळ,वांद्रे (पश्चिम). इथे या दीर्घांकाचे नाट्यवाचन होणार आहे. या कार्यक्रमासाठी प्रवेश विनामुल्य आहे. येत्या वर्षभरात दर महिन्यास एक या प्रमाणे किमान बारा नव्या संहितांचे सादरीकरण खारदांडा इथल्या ‘हाईव्ह ‘ सांस्कृतिक केंद्राच्या सहयोगा करण्यात येणार आहेत.
