The Press shows of Marathi films are generally held two or three days before the film’s release. If there is no press show, the critics are invited for premiere show of the film a day before the film’s release. However, the latest released Marathi film ‘Fugay‘ has set a new trend. The film’s press show was held on the first day of its release i.e. Friday at 12:00 noon, followed by grand star studded premiere show at 8:00 pm at a different venue.

As a result of this, many critics could not submit their reviews on ‘Fugay‘  film before the deadline. Incidentally, there was another film ‘Dhyanimani‘ releasing along with this film on Friday, which had held its press show on Wednesday. It seems, the makers of ‘Fugay‘ believed more on word of mouth publicity, rather than depending on the reviews by critics. Now, it remains to be seen, whether their strategy works in their favour.

Nishikant Kamat returns to acting in Marathi as a villain

Well Known actor and film director Nishikant Kamat had made his acting debut through Smita Talwalkar’s film ‘Saat Chya Aat Gharat‘ way back in 2004. Thereafter, he switched over to direction, directing some hit Bollywood films and also award winning Marathi film like ‘Dombivali Fast‘ and super hit Marathi film like ‘Lai Bhari‘. Recently, we also saw him playing a negative role in Bollywood film ‘Madaari‘. But now, Nishikant Kamat is making a comeback in Marathi as an actor, through forthcoming Marathi film ‘Fugay‘.

In ‘Fugay‘ Nishikant Kamat plays a villain Bhairappa, who will also make the audience laugh. The film stars Subodh Bhave, Swwapnil Joshi and Prarthana Behere in the lead . In this film Nishikant Kamat has good scope, as he utters typical dialogues in Goan accent. For his fans, this will be his memorable role, according to makers of this film.

Subodh Bhave’s son Malhar Bhave to play his childhood role in ‘Fugay’

There are many actors, whose sons are carrying forward their father’s profession in this film industry. Best examples are Chandrakant GokhaleVikram Gokhale , Mahesh Kothare- Adinath Kothare, Ravindra Mahajani- Gashmir Mahajani, late Laxmikant Berde- Abhinay Berde and so on. But, we had not heard of an actor’s real life son playing his childhood role in the same film. This new record will be set by Subodh Bhave’s son Malhar Bhave through the film ‘Fugay‘, which is due for release soon.

Little Malhar Bhave plays the childhood role of his father in the film ‘Fugay‘, which stars Subodh Bhave and Swwapnil Joshi in the lead. Incidentally, Swwapnil Joshi’s childhood role is played by the film’s co producer’s son Vihaan Nishandar. Since this film is based on close friendship between the lead characters, their childhood roles will also have equal importance in the film. For little Malhar Bhave, this is a golden opportunity to invite the attention of audience, as acting is in his blood.

Marathi films begin new year with 2 simultaneous releases

After taking a long break, during the last fortnight of 2016, Marathi films will now begin their new year with two simultaneous releases on coming Friday. One failed to understand, why none of the Marathi films preferred to release films during last two weeks, when most of the Marathi dramas did good business during this period. Even Hindi film like ‘Dangal’ earned record collections during the fag end of the year 2016. In fact, no releases from Marathi did help the record earnings of ‘Dangal’.

The last ten days of 2016 were holidays for schools and colleges, which was the right time for the Marathi films, to grab this opportunity. But, none of the filmmakers dared to release their films during this period. And now, we will find many of them lined up for release, by competing with each other.  Films like Karaar‘, ‘Fugay‘,  ‘Baghtos Kaay Mujara Kar’ and many more are in the queue.

Isn’t  that strange ? The two films opening the account for 2017 on 6th January are, ‘Jhala Bobhata’ directed by Anup Jagadale and ‘Tee Sadhya Kaay Karte’ directed by Satish Rajwade. So, it remains to be seen, which film would score maximum.

Subodh Bhave has two films lined up for release

After attaining success through films like ‘Lokmanya’ and ‘Katyar Kaljaat Ghusali’ in 2015, Subodh Bhave was not in news, though two of his films, ‘Bandh Nylonche’ and ‘Kiran Kulkarni v/s Kiran Kulkarni’ were released during 2016. Both these films didn’t do well. But now, Subodh has two successive releases in the form of Fugay opposite Swwapnil Joshi for the first time and Karaar opposite Urmila Kanetkar Kothare and Kranti Redkar. Interestingly, both  these films have different  subjects.

Recently, during the music launch of his film, ‘Karaar’ Subodh made it very clear that he enjoyed working with his co stars who give their 100%. Interestingly, Subodh has also been signed by Bollywood dress designer Vikram Phadnis for his debut Marathi film ‘Hrudayantar’ and that too opposite Mukta Barve, which itself is a big news. During the muhurat of this film held recently, Bollywood superstar had come to give the clap. Having won best actor awards in the past, these forthcoming three films are considered to be most important for Subodh.

Fugay Marathi Film
Marathi movie ‘Fugay’

Swapna Waghmare Joshi is back again as a director. This time she is presenting a so called unique romantic backstory,’Fugay‘. For the first time Swwapnil Joshi, the favourite actor of the director, will be seen with Subodh Bhave in this film. Recently, the teaser poster of this film was launched digitally which quickly received good response from the fans of this duo.

Presented by Inder Raj Kapoor and produced by Arjun Singgh Baran, Kartik Nishandar and Anuradha Joshi under the banners STV Networks, GSEAMS and MAAY Productions the film has raised a lot of curiosity about the interchanging of surnames by the lead actors on the digital poster. There is a possibility that these could be their character names in the film ‘Fugay‘. One way, this is a good way of promoting the film and raising curiosity among the prospective audience.
