‘Baaplyok’ to introduce newcomer Payal Jadhav
Many successful filmmakers have always introduced new talents through their films. And, national award winning directors Nagraj Manjule and Makarand Mane are nowhere behind in this search for new artistes. In their forthcoming Marathi film ‘Baaplyok’ they are introducing a new face in the form of Payal Jadhav. So, with this film this newcomer will be making her screen debut obn 25th August, when the film will be released in theatres.
During her childhood, Payal’s family had to leave their village and move to Pune as they had to suffer water scarcity in their village. Payal’s father had to take up a job as a Peon in Saraswati Vidyamandir School, Pune, from where Payal also completed her school education. Later, she acquired Masters’ In Health Science degree from Pune University, followed by Masters’ in Bharat Natyam from Lalit Kala Kendra, Pune.
Speaking about her role in ‘Baaplyok’, Payal says that this film is very special for her, as it showed her a new path. She has thanked Makarand Sir and all those involved in producing this film for their support. Director Makarand Mane is also all praise for Payal, as according to him she has put in lot of hard work while presenting her character effectively.
Grand teaser launch of Marathi film ‘Palyad’
Marathi film ‘Palyad’, which has been recognised by a world famous magazine like Forbes, has won all the prestigious awards at national and international film festivals and award ceremonies. So, the Marathi film lovers are eager to watch this film. Recently, the teaser of ‘Palyad’ was released to further heighten this curiosity. The teaser which shows a glimpse of the subject, content and atmosphere of the film, is not only creating a buzz on social media, but also makes us think inwardly about what exactly we will see in this film. This film will be released in all over Maharashtra on November 4.
Pawan Sadamwar, Suraj Sadamwar, Mangesh Dupare, Pranoti Panchal and Shailesh Bhimrao Dupare, visionary professionals and producers from Chandrapur have produced ‘Palayad‘ under the banner of Elevate Films and Elevate Life and Lavanya Priya Arts. Shailesh Dupare has directed this film which is released through K Sera Sera Distribution. The teaser hints that the film will tell the story of a small boy named Shambhu and the dreams that float in his mother’s eyes. Even though the situation is dire, Shambhu’s mother wants her son to study and become a big doctor and treat people’s minds along with the body. After watching the teaser, it is felt that the story of what lies beyond the dreams of the mother will be seen in this film.
The story of this film revolves around a family in a graveyard society. Even in today’s advanced era, ‘Palyad‘ will do the job of showing the horrible reality hidden in the dark corners of the society. With this strong subject, this film has managed to make its mark in nearly 14 film festivals. It stars Shashank Shende, Devika Daftardar, child actor Ruchit Ninave from Ballarashah, Devendra Dodke, Veera Sathitdar, Sachin Giri, Sayali Dethe, Bharat Rangari, Babita Uike, Ravi Dhakate, Gajesh Kamble and others. The story of the film has been written by Sudarshan Khadangale, while Sudarshan Khadangale and Shailesh Bhimrao Dupare have penned the screenplay and dialogues. The costumes are done by Vikas Chahare. The entire shooting of this film was completed in 25 days in Chandrapur district.

‘Nay Varanbhaat Loncha Kon Nay Koncha’ to release on January 14th
Known for some of his path breaking films, film maker Mahesh Manjrekar has offered some good subjects to Marathi and Hindi film industry. Some of his film’s titles were very long, like ‘Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai’,’ Pran Jaye Par Shaan Na Jaye,’Me Shivaji Raje Bhosale Boltoy’ and so on. Now, his new Marathi film with intriguing title ‘Nay Varanbhaat Loncha Kon Nay Koncha (नाय वरनभात लोन्चा कोन नाय कोन्चा!)’ has been the talk of film lovers on social media.
The poster of this film is a glimpse of contemporary times and the tagline on the poster reads “the collapsed existence of the concrete jungle”. Does this remind the horrors of today’s times ? Misery is writ large on the decadent faces of mill-workers families’ brutalized for over three decade. They represent oppression on three generation. नाशिक येथे चालू असलेल्या ९४व्या अखिल भारतीय मराठी साहित्य संमेलनात सन्माननीय कॅबिनेट मंत्री छगन भुजबळ यांच्या हस्ते ‘जिंदगानी’ या सामाजिक विषयावर आधारित आगामी चित्रपटाच्या पोस्टरचे अनावरण करण्यात आले. ‘जिंदगानी’ या चित्रपटाचं लेखन, दिग्दर्शन विनायक साळवे यांनी केले असून, निर्मिती सुनीता शिंदे यांनी नर्मदा सिनेव्हिजन्स या निर्मिती संस्थे मार्फत केली आहे. चित्रपटाने अनेक आंतरराष्ट्रीय आणि राष्ट्रीय चित्रपट महोत्सवात पुरस्कार मिळवले असून, आपल्या मातीतील प्रेक्षकांनाही तो आवडेल असा विश्वास निर्मात्यानी व्यक्त केलाय.

Vijay, Shashank and Makarand combine once again for ‘Soyarik’
The successful trio comprising of film makers Vijay Shinde, Shashank Shende and Makarand Mane who together offered ‘Poraga Majetay’ have once again united to jointly produce their next Marathi film ‘Soyrik’. Muhurat of this family film was performed at Akluj followed by shooting recently. The film will present a big team of renowned artistes. Written and directed by Makarand Mane this film will be released soon.
According to Director Makarand Mane ‘Relationship’ is very hard to maintain. As there is a conflict of Selflessness and Selfishness with a thin line. How you stand on this line , decides your affinity. This is what we have tried to show in this film. Makarand Mane’s film ‘Poraga Majetay’ ready for release
Having inspired the Marathi film lovers with films like ‘Ringan’ and ‘Kagar’, director Makarand Mane is now ready with his new Marathi film ‘Porga Majetay’, which is also produced by him along with Shashank Shende and Vijay Shinde. The film has also been selected in Pune International film festival in the Marathi films section. The film has highlighted the relationship between father and son which develops at every stage of life, with change of responsibilities.
The National award winning director has tried to handle a simple story happening around us using his creative mind. So, there are big expectations from this film too. The story of this film is by Vitthal Nagnath Kale while the screenplay and dialogues are by Makarand Mane. Guru Thakur and Vaibhav Deshmukh have penned the lyrics while music and background music is by Vijay Gavande. Ajay Gogavale, Anand Shinde and Abhay Jodhpurkar have rendered their voices for the songs in ‘Poraga Majetay’, while cinematography is by Yogesh Koli.
Costumes by Anutama Naikwadi, art direction by Mahesh Kore, make up by Santosh Dongre, editing by Aashay Gatade and sound design by Piyush Shah are other credits.
Makarand, Shashank & Shantanu come together to form Stage and Screen Academy
National award winning writer director Makarand Mane , versatile actor Shashank Shende and experienced actor and executive producer Shantanu Gangane have come together to form an academy Bahurupee Manch Stage and Screen Academy , which was launched recently by actor Amey Wagh recently. The academy will offer complete training about acting besides knowledge about different fields including writing about stage and screen.
The academy will help all the newcomers to find openings in the field of stage, television, films and web series which are offering big opportunities . The acting course of this academy will begin from February for all. At the same time, advanced course for screen will also be there. In the due course of time, the academy will also introduce courses in Classical dance, music, Body language, reading , sound design, video production, still photography and writing . According to Makarand Mane, the students trained in this institute will help offer film makers a choice to select the suitable artistes for their projects.
‘Kaagar’ attempts a conventional love story on the backdrop of Power politics

Politics has always been a favourite subject of Marathi films since the time ‘Saamana‘ was released in the 70s. Directed by Jabbar Patel the film skilfully dramatized the conflict of wills between a small-town political racketeer and a morally upright schoolteacher. It had talked shown the power of sugar co-operatives of Maharashtra. Then in 1998, we saw ‘Sarkarnama‘ directed by Shrabani Deodhar on two political rivals. Both ‘Saamana‘ and ‘Sarkarnama‘ became famous for the powerful performances of Dr. Shreeram Lagoo & Nilu Phule (Saamana) & Dilip Prabhavalkar and Yashwant Dutt (Sarkarnama).
Now, writer-director Viju Mane has presented his latest Marathi film ‘Kaagar‘ on the backdrop of a small town Virainagar in Maharashtra, where we find a middle-aged school teacher, with higher connections trying to gain power through his choice of candidate. How he finally succeeds in getting his own young daughter into this political fight for survival, is what the film is all about. To succeed in his mission, Guruji (Shashank Shende) entrusts the most difficult job to his trusted so-called left hand Yuvraj (Shubhankar Tawde) a software Engineer from his small town. Yuvraj agrees to do anything for Guruji, as he trusts him and is also madly in love with his young college going daughter Rani(Rinku Rajguru).
As the sequence of events unfolds, Yuvraj- Rani love story takes a back seat and we find Guruji showing his true colours like a typical filmy villain to fulfill his dream. The film fails to present a strong conflict, due to limited content and lack of well-planned screenplay. As a result, this film has turned out to be neither a well-built love story nor an action-filled political thriller. Though Shashank Shende finds a lead role of a Guruji turned politician, he does not perfectly fit into that kind of canny character. Suhas Palshikar has also been wasted in that limited character of Guruji’s political rival from the same party. His character should have been stronger to show the conflict. Instead, more attention has been paid to Guruji’s changing political games, according to time. Except for one background song, the other song a Qawwali does not go well with the screenplay. Moreover, in the absence of renowned actors, the film fails to capture the attention of the audience.
If the filmmakers thought that using the card of Rinku Rajguru, they would invite all the attention towards the film, their assumption has gone wrong. As an actress, she has been typecast with the same style of dialogue delivery and her typical expressions noticed in ‘Sairat‘. Perhaps, she has her own limitations. In the role of Yuvraj, Shubhankar Tawde is fine but here once again, the protagonist in his character hasn’t been exploited much. In the supporting cast, Vitthal Kale as Bhavdya, Shantanu Gangane as Bhaiyasaaheb and Umesh Jagtap as Police inspector Nikam have offered good support. The work done by location sound recordist and sound engineer has been worth appreciating. All in all, there is something really missing from this love story set with a political backdrop.
