Teaser of film ‘Dhasal’ presents Lalit Prabhakar’s dashing look
Having seen him in variety of roles in films, renowned actor Lalit Prabhakar will now be seen in a dashing look, through his forthcoming film ‘Dhasal’. This film is a biopic on Marathi Poet, writer and Dalit activist from Maharashtra, who was conferred with Padma Shri and also a Lifetime achievement from the Sahitya Akademi .
The teaser of film ‘Dhasal’ was released during the Dhamma Festival in Nagpur. Watching Lalit Prabhakar in and as ‘Dhasal’ in this teaser, it will be interesting to watch him play this multi-talented activist from Maharashtra.
This film is produced by Varuna Madanlal Rana and Sanjay Pande and written- directed by Varuna Madanlal Rana. According to the writer- director , “To understand the personality Mr. Dhasal, it was necessary to understand his life journey. So, we studied his life and his literature for past few years and only thereafter tried to present this film.”
Multi-starrer ‘Khagraas’ to unveil mystery
What happens, when in an eerie atmosphere, the moon tries to cover the son? The motion poster of forthcoming Marathi film ‘Khagraas’ clearly suggests about the mystery to be unveiled through this film. But, the film lovers interested in this subject, will have to wait till 5th February 2027, when this film will be released in theatres.
However, one good thing about this multi-starrer film is that it has a strong star cast, comprising of popular artistes like Siddharth Menon, Sanskruti Balgude, Kshitish Date, Swanandi Tikekar, Rahul Pethe, Sayali Pathak, Ananya Jawale & above all Subodh Bhave. With each one of them having their own identity to present themselves, it will be interesting to watch their performances together.
According to director Devesh V Kamat, this mystery filled film will make the audience think at every moment, which is the strength of this film. While, Producer Rakesh Jawale is more than happy to present a new subject filled with mystery, before the audience.
Film Journalist Dilip Thakur conferred with Pratibha Sanman Puraskar
Well Known senior film journalist Dilip Thakur was among the ten renowned personalities from different fields in Mumbai, who were conferred with Pratibha Sanman Puraskar recently, at Prabodhankar Thackeray Mini Theatre in Borivali.
Dilip Thakur was presented with this award for his contribution to Film Journalism, especially in Marathi media for the past 44 years, beginning fron Newspaper Nava Shakti.
After taking early retirement fron NavaShakti, Dilip worked as a freelance Film Journalist more effectively and is today considered to be the most knowledgeble film Journalist. He has written about 50 books on Film industry and film artistes. In his small and effective speech, he thanked the organisers for selecting him for this award and also all those who motivated him in his journey in film industry.
Organised by Mr. Girish Vasant Trivedi , Editor of Aahuti Weekly and presented by Mr. Pradeep Malankar of Girgaon Katta, these Pratibha Sanmaan Puraskars were presented to ten renowned personalities in a well organised function very systematically with perfect Audio Visual presentation of each of the awardees and their work.
Ms. Shubhada Varadkar, renowned Odissi Nrityaguru and recipient of this year’s Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, was the Chief guest for this function and presented the awards. Marathi theatre to present a new concept of ‘Three in One’
Our Marathi theatre has always been trying new experiments on stage, to attract the audience. Now, a new Marathi play ‘Ti Chee Goshta- Season 1′ written by Anand Mhasvekar and directed by Prashant Girkar will be presented on stage, by combining three different stories into the same concept on the backdrop of Mumbai city. Six different women characters and the changing situation affecting their life, will be presented through this play.
This play which presents three different stories revolving around a woman who is just not a mother, wife, sister or a girlfriend, but beyond that possessing a strong identity of her own. The anchor & presenter of this play is popular veteran actress Usha Nadkarni. This play stars renowned actresses like Nirmala Kotnis, Smita Oak, Neeta Donde, Shuchika Joshi, Unnati Shinde & Vedika Valimbe in lead roles.
The inaugural show of this play will be held on 26th October 2026 @ 4.30 pm in Shivaji Mandir, Dadar.
Marathi Film ‘Dharau’ wins ‘Best Debut Feature film’ award in Pakistan
Marathi film ‘Dharau’ with a tagline …‘Tee Gaay Naay.. Maay Haay!’ Is in the news, prior to its release in theatres. Recently, teaser of this film was released, which clearly indicated that this film is set on the backdrop Rural Maharashtra lifestyle , our Indian culture and the faith in Mother Cow. The Cow is also viewed as a surrogate mother to all humanity, as she gives life sustaining milk. This shows her generosity and selflessness .
In this film, you will notice an emotional relationship between a Mother Cow and a small boy. ‘Dharau’ has already won 26 national and international awards at various film festivals. According to writer- director Manish Suresh Shinde, the biggest surprise was that this film won the ‘Best Debut Feature film’ at the Peshawar International Film Festival in Pakistan. Renowned actor Nana Patekar is no more
The 8th October morning brought a very sad news . It was shocking! But, it turned out to be true. The ‘Krantiveer’ and ‘Natasamrat’ of Hindi and Marathi films, Nana Patekar was no more. According to reliable sources he passed away early hours of the morning due to cardiac failure. He was 75. He is survived by his wife Neelakanti and son Malhar.
Vishwanath Patekar popularly known as Nana Patekar was conferred with Padma shri award and had also won 3 National and four filmfare awards for his performance in films over the years. Though he started performing in films n 1978, he actually shot into fame with N.Chandra’s film ‘Ankush’. Thereafter, there was no stopping for him and he received roles suited to him in films like ‘Pratighaat’, ’Andha Yudh’, Parinda’,’ Prahaar’, ’Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman’,’ Apharan’ ,’ Tirangaa’,’ Krantiveer’ , ‘Agni Sakshi’ Ghulam E Mustafa’,’Kohraam’,’ ‘Yashwant’,’ ‘Rajneeti’,’ Taxi no. 9211’ ‘Ab Tak Chhappan’, ‘Vaccine War’ and so on.
In Marathi he did two memorable films ‘Dr. Prakash Baba Amte’ and ‘Natasamrat’ . Many top personalities have expressed their grief , after hearing about his sudden death. Nana will be cremated with full state honours around 7 pm today, at his farmhouse in Donaje near Pune.
Madhuri Dixit will host ‘Kon Honaar Crorepati’ on Sony Liv
Legendary film actress Madhuri Dixit will host the upcoming Marathi Quiz based programme ‘Kon Honaar Crorepati’ on Sony Liv from 12th October 2026. This show will be aired @ 9 pm from Monday to Friday and besides Sony Liv channel it will also be aired on Sony Marathi channel.
It may be recalled that the previous editions of this Marathi Quiz based show were hosted by Sachin Khedekar and Nagraj Manjule. Now, with Madhuri Dixit taking over as the host of this new edition, her well wishers and admirers are happy to see her in this new role. Madhuri being a versatile actress, is also expected to make this show more interesting displaying her communication skills.
‘Aadi Anant’ first poster unveiled
Ashok Saraf, Sankarshan Karhade in Aadi Anant
Legendary actor Ashok Saraf will be playing the lead role along with Sankarshan Karhade and Sakkhi Gokhale in forthcoming Marathi film ‘Aadi Anant’. First poster of this film was recently unveiled with an announcement that this film will be released in theatres on 12th November.
Lead actor Sankarshan Karhade , who has also written the story screenplay and dialogues of this film, is excited that this is his first film with legendary Ashok Saraf. He is confident that his story will be well accepted by film lovers, because it is the film for all generations. This film is directed by DOP Mahesh Limaye.

Janhavi Killekar’s look in the film ‘Miranda Warning’ is unveiled
Janhavi Killekar, has created her own identify in every Maharashtrian household with her performances in Serial ‘Bhagya Dile Tu Mala’ film ‘Psycho Ranga’ and Big Boss Reality Show. Now , she will be seen in a new look through forthcoming Marathi film ‘Miranda Warning’, which is set for release on 27th November 2026.
Produced and directed by Sachin Dhotre this film’s story is written by Ravindra Mathadhikari and Sayali Mathadhikari. The film is set on the backdrop of a farmhouse ‘Heritagewadi’ where a murder takes place and the thrilling investigation begins with suspense. Adinath Kothare plays a rough and tough Police officer in this film along with Janhavi and other versatile artistes.
Though we are aware that this will be a suspense filled thriller, the story of this film is still not disclosed. For that, the film lovers will have to wait till the film’s release on 27th November 2026.
Marathi Play ‘Shubham Karoti’ promises a perfect family drama
New Marathi play ‘Shubham Karoti’ which has now been released with its inaugural show at Yashwant Natya Mandir, Matunga, has promised a perfect family drama suited to all age groups. The play talks about the dreams of children and expectations from parents in a middle class Marathi family and therefore has been described by its makers in simple words, “ It is not a home within the drama… but, a drama noticed in all families.”
Presented by Rawtekar, produced by Blue Ramp Entertainment, Nitin Vaidya Productions and Sargam Creations, directed by Bhagyesh Ranade, ‘Shubham Karoti’ is written by Vaibhav Joshi. According to director Bhagyesh Ranade, though this play revolves around one family, it relates to all families. This play stars Abhinay Berde, Apoorva Gore, Seema Deshmukh and Hrishikesh Joshi in lead roles.
