4th NIFF 2012 begins from 23rd March

e city of Nashik has special significance. The very first Indian film was visualised and produced here by Dadasaheb Phalke that acted as the trigger for the genesis of the Indian film industry – a giant in the global entertainment map today.

The 4th Nashik International Film festival( NIFF) begins with an Opening Event on 23rd March at CINEMAX Foyer & Screens, City Centre Mall, Nashik.

There will be NIFF Master Workshop by Audrius Stonys. This is a workshop cum documentary film making competition, mentored by the acclaimed European film maker from Lithuania. After an application and selection process, 4 teams of 5 young film makers will ideate, shoot & edit a documentary each, not exceeding 5 minutes within the festival’s duration of 4 days to be screened at the closing ceremony on the 25th day of March.
There will be following events during the festival between 23rd- 25th March.

• Continent Focus: Screenings of European Film Academy’s award winning Package of 15 films

• Region Focus: Screening of Poetic Documentaries from the Baltic Region of Europe

• Competitive Films: Screening of films in competition for the awards, with a cumulative duration of over 20 hours

• 6 Master Classes on different topics with Mr. Shyam Benegal(Adapting to Changing Audiences), Mr. Audrius Stonys (Poetic Documentaries), Mr. Prahlad Kakkar (Marketing),Ms. Sophy Sivaraman (Funding a film), Mr. V.G Samant (Animation Films) & a senior Member of the Cine Still Photographers Association (Art of Stills)

• 2 Open House sessions for the delegates & others on topics of general interest

• A wine & cheese festival, concurrent to the film Festival over 3 days, to foster creative relationships and bring in an element of fun.

• Fun tours to the Nashik Vineyards every day, with a ‘Wine Appreciation’ workshop.

• Retrospective on Dev Anand.
