Lifetime achievement award for Kishori Amonkar
Veteran classical singer Kishori Amonkar has been conferred with ‘Big Star IMA Hall of Fame’ Lifetime achievement award. She received this award from reputed classical singer Pandit jasraj, in the presence of IMA founder Rajashree Birla.
Kishori Amonkar now 78, has already won the Sangeet Natak Academy award besides Govt of India’s Padma Vibhushan and the Sangeet Samradni award. She has also been honoured with Ganasaswati degree.
Popularly Known for performing in the classical genre khyal and the light classical genres thumri and bhajan, Ms. Amonkar was trained under her mother Mogubai Khardikar also a reputed classical singer of the Jaipur Gharana.
