Marathi films begin new year with 2 simultaneous releases
After taking a long break, during the last fortnight of 2016, Marathi films will now begin their new year with two simultaneous releases on coming Friday. One failed to understand, why none of the Marathi films preferred to release films during last two weeks, when most of the Marathi dramas did good business during this period. Even Hindi film like ‘Dangal’ earned record collections during the fag end of the year 2016. In fact, no releases from Marathi did help the record earnings of ‘Dangal’.
The last ten days of 2016 were holidays for schools and colleges, which was the right time for the Marathi films, to grab this opportunity. But, none of the filmmakers dared to release their films during this period. And now, we will find many of them lined up for release, by competing with each other. Films like ‘Karaar‘, ‘Fugay‘, ‘Baghtos Kaay Mujara Kar’ and many more are in the queue.
Isn’t that strange ? The two films opening the account for 2017 on 6th January are, ‘Jhala Bobhata’ directed by Anup Jagadale and ‘Tee Sadhya Kaay Karte’ directed by Satish Rajwade. So, it remains to be seen, which film would score maximum.

What resolutions our Marathi stars have made for 2017 ?
It has become a traditional practice now to announce your resolutions for the new year. And, our Marathi Stars including Marathi film and TV stars are also part of it. It is a common question asked to most of them during the end of previous year, as to what is their resolution for the new year and each one of them have disclose their plans.
Kranti Redkar, whose two films ‘Karaar‘ and ‘Truckbhar Swapna‘ are releasing early 2017, feels that she should focus more on time management, besides paying more attention on doing something different, instead of getting typecast. With her characters in these two films, she can say so.
Upendra Limaye, who is known for his award winning films ‘Jogwa‘ and ‘Yellow‘ , is also of the opinion that an actor should attempt variety of roles through new wave films. His next film ‘Kshitij‘ is the best example of what he expects from a film. Upendra is playing a realistic character of a farmer in this film.
Popular actress Prarthana Behere frankly doesn’t believe in new year resolutions. Actually she prepares a list of 10 priorities and pays attention on achieving them one by one. But, this year she is going to be very particular about collecting all the information before signing a project. At the same time, she is excited about her next releases starting with ‘Fugay‘ followed by her other films, shooting of which has already been completed.

Mandar Kulkarni, who plays the lead role of Parth in the serial ‘Aamhi Dogha Raja Rani‘ is more concerned about protection of our environment. So, he has planned to plant maximum tress during the new year, to create awareness. At the same time, he has assured his admirers to offer quality entertainment during the new year through his serial. Another actress, Namrata Gaikwad has also announced that she would plant maximum trees during the new year to give something back to the mother nature.
Tributes paid to Mangesh Padgaonkar on his first death anniversary
There are different ways of paying tributes to a legend on their death anniversary. On the eve of the first death anniversary of legendary poet Padmabhooshan Mangesh Padgaonkar, a video CD was released, which presents a song picturised, based on his popular poem ‘Mee Kuthe Mhanalo Pari Milavi, Fakta Jara Bari Milavi‘. The wordings of this poem had created a controversy recently, when IAS officer and poet Dilip Pandharpatte had also claimed that some of the wordings in the poem were his own. But, the poem, which was posted on social networking sites indicated that it was Late Mangesh Padgaonkar‘s poem.
However, the launch of Video CD went of smoothly, in presence of Mangesh Padgaonkar’s son Dr. Ajit Padgaonkar and daughter Anjali Padgaonkar. Music of the song is composed by Chintamani Sohoni, while Pushkar Shrotri has directed this music video. Many prominent artistes will be seen performing in this video. They are, Yogesh Sohoni, Spruha Joshi, Rishika Nirbhavane, Vallari Londhe, Vinaya Sanglikar, Nayana Hadkar and Mahi Fangal. Rajan Sohoni has done the cinematography of this Video .
Ganesh Acharya shoots a super song for his Marathi film ‘Bhikari’
Popular choreographer Ganesh Acharya has brought that Bollywood flavour into Marathi during song picturisation. Incidentally, he is making his debut as director in Marathi through his forthcoming film ‘Bhikari‘. After launching his film with a grand muhurat at the hands of Superstar Amitabh Bachchan, Ganesh Acharya began shooting of this film.
Recently, Ganesh Acharya shot a super song on Lord Ganesha in presence of 1000 artistes at Film City, Mumbai. 40 feet tall set was erected for this song on which 35 feet tall idol of Ganesha was kept. The song with the wordings ‘Deva Ho Deva‘ was picturised on lead artistes of the film Swwapnil Joshi, Rucha Inamdar, Guru Thakur and Kirti Adarkar. Music of this song has been composed by Milind Wankhede and Vishal Mishra. The director himself will also be seen performing in this song, which has taken three days of shooting. There are total six songs in ‘Bhikari‘ film. The film is produced by Sharad Shelar and Ganesh Acharya.
Muhurat of ‘Dehaant’ performed in Lad Ganapati temple , Girgaon
Producer Sadanand( Pappu) Lad launched his new Marathi film ‘Dehaant‘ recently at Lad Ganapati temple Girgaon, with a muhurat ceremony. After the muhurat, the shooting of this film is currently in progress, at various places in Girgaon, to give this film a realistic look. On the muhurat day itself, there was a big crowd gathered to see TV actor Surhud Wadekar ( ‘Asava Sundar Swapnancha Bangala‘ fame), who is part of this film. The film ‘Dehaant‘ is being produced under his banner of LG Productions and will be presented by Ankur Movies.
Written by Pradeep Mhapuskar, the film is directed by Bhagwandas, who has worked as assistant with many reputed directors. The film’s story invites the attention of parents to the deviation of children from sports to mobile phone apps addiction. In short, the film ‘Dehaant‘ has a timely message. Besides Surhud Wadekar, the film stars Ashok Shinde, Deepti Bhagwat, Supriya Vinod, Ankur Lad, Rashmi Rajput in important roles. Music by Lahu-Madhav and cinematography by Santosh are the other credits of this film.
Laxmikant Berde’s son Abhinay Berde all set to make his acting debut
His name is Abhinay, which clearly suggests that he is a born actor. His father late Laxmikant Berde was a superstar of Marathi films during 80s and 90s, besides establishing himself as a comedian in Bollywood. Now, Abhinay Berde is all set to make his debut as an actor through forthcoming Marathi film ‘Ti Saddhya Kay Karte‘, which is scheduled to release on 6th January 2017 to begin the new year with a bang.
‘Ti Saddhya Kay Karte‘ film has an interesting cast. Along with Abhinay Berde another young actress is also making her debut. She is Arya Ambekar, the singer turned actress, who had invited the attention of Maharashtrian households through popular music reality show Sa Re Ga Ma.. The film also stars another lead pair of Ankush Chaudhari and ‘Honaar Suun Mi Hya Gharchi‘ TV serial fame Tejashree Pradhan. The other important artistes of this film are, Nirmohi Agnihotri, Hruditya Rajwade, Isha Phadke, Sukanya Kulkarni Mone, Sanjay Mone, Anuradha Rajadhyaksha, Prasad Barve and Tushar Dalvi. The film ‘Ti Saddhya Kay Karte‘ presents the story of Anurag and Tanvi right from their childhood and is directed by Satish Rajwade for producer Arvind Jog and presenters Zee Studios. The four songs in this film are composed by three different music directors, namely Nilesh Moharir, Avinash Vishwajeet and Mandar Apte.
Mrunmayee Deshpande pairs up with Thakur Anoop Singh for ‘Bebhaan’
After taking a month long break post marriage, Mrunmayee Deshpande is back to face the camera. This time, she pairs up with Mr. World Thakur Anoop Singh, who is also set to make his debut in Marathi, through forthcoming film ‘Bebhaan‘. Anoop’s two films ‘Commando 2‘ in Hindi and ‘Singham 3‘ in Telugu are also due for release. But, when ‘Bebhaan‘ releases next year, it will certainly invite the attention of all film lovers. For Mrunmayee Deshpande, this will be a big challenge, as she will begin her new innings in Marathi films, after marriage.
Directed by Anup Ashok Jagdale, ‘Bebhaan‘ film is being made under the banner of Shambhavi Films by producer Madhukar Uddhav Deshpande. Besides Thakur Anoop Singh and Mrunmayee Deshpande, the film also stars Smita Jaykar and Sanjay Khapre. This action film has music by A.V.Prafullchandra on the lyrics of Mangesh Kangane.
Manish Paul to make his debut in Marathi through ‘Hrudayantar’
Recently we heard about the launch of Vikram Phadnis Marathi film ‘Hrudayantar‘ starring Subodh Bhave and Mukta Barve in the lead role. Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan had given the muhurat clap of this film. Now, this film is in the news once again, as popular we understand that TV anchor and actor Manish Paul will be making his debut in Marathi films, through this film.
Manish Paul is playing his own self in ‘Hrudayantar‘ film, which is an emotion filled story, presented by producers Vikram Phadnis and Pratap Sarnaik along with his son Purvesh Sarnaik and directed by Vikram Phadnis. Manish Paul could not say ‘no’ to his friend Vikram, when he approached him to play this guest role as a chief guest, while shooting for a scene of school’s annual sports day programme. Reacting on his experience of working in a Marathi film, Manish said that, “It was a good experience for him to be amongst school children and he really enjoyed it“.
Marathi Mulgi Manisha Kelkar to play a Police officer in Bollywood film
Renowned glamorous Marathi film actress Manisha Kelkar who began her acting career with Marathi film ‘Bhola Shankar‘, later performed in Marathi films like ‘Hyancha Kaahi Nem Nahi‘, ‘Ghartyasathi Sara Kahi‘, ‘Mission Possible‘, ‘Majha Mee‘ and ‘Chandrakor‘ besides few Hindi films, will now play a dashing lady police officer in new Bollywood film, title of which has not been announced yet. Manisha Kelkar who plays the character of Inspector Shalini Patil has been casted opposite Arbaaz Khan in this film produced by Pradeep Rangawani and directed by Shubhrato Paul.
Very excited about this new offer, Manisha Kelkar said, “After hearing the script of this film, I felt that my knowledge of Martial arts will be very useful for this role. In this film, myself and Arbaaz are investigating a murder case, which leads to a drama; and the film’s action filled screenplay revolves around it. Arbaaz has also praised my role, calling me ‘Marathi Mulgi’. He is himself playing Inspector Lokhande. Before this film, I had done two hindi films, namely ‘Bandook’ and ‘Lottery’.”
