Forthcoming Marathi films begin their promotion on auspicious Gudhi Padwa day

Two forthcoming Marathi films have always been in the news, during their making. But, now both these films have started their promotion, during the auspicious Gudhi Padwa festival. The two films are, ‘Ek Albela’ which is a biopic on late Bhagwan Dada and ‘Laal Ishq’ which is a debut Marathi film of Bollywood film producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
The team members of ‘Ek Albela’’, namely Mangesh Desai, Tejaswi Patil, director Shekhar Sartandel and executive producer Kunal Shetye, after hoisting the Gudhi , performed the dance in the style of Late Bhagwan dada, by paying tributes to him. The film also stars Vidya balan, who is playing the role of Geeta Bali in this film. The film’s teaser has already received several likes on social networking sites.
The two leading artistes of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Marathi film ‘Laal Ishq’, namely, Swapnil Joshi and Anjana Sukhani also began promotion of their film, by hoisting the Gudhi in the office of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The Bollywood actress performed the pooja , dressed up in typical Maharashtrian saree, in presence of Swapnil Joshi, who was explaining her rituals. This film will be released on 27th May 2016.
Rajashree Landge to perform in cinematic version ‘Tee Phulrani’

Known for her roles in Marathi films ‘Gadhvacha Lagna‘ and recently released film ‘Citizen‘, dashing Marathi actress has been selected to play the central role in the cinematic version of Late Pu.La.Deshpande’s popular Marathi play ‘Tee Phulrani‘. Announcement of the name of Rajashree Landge was a big surprise, as there was strong rumour that Aditi Sarangdhar would play this role. But, Rajashree’s selection has now been confirmed. Her co star in this film in the role of Professor will be Subodh Bhave.
‘Tee Phulrani‘ will be directed by experienced film director Amol Shetge. Recently, a new trend has set in to convert some of the popular Marathi plays into films and the best examples were films like ‘Katyar kaljaat Ghusli‘ and ‘Natsamrat‘. Now, it remains to be seen, how Amol Shetge would succeed in presenting this cinematic version. Luckily, he has a talented actor Subodh Bhave with him; but, all eyes will be on Rajshree Landge .
Mukta Dabholkar launches trailer of ‘Aart’

Mukta Dabholkar is carrying forward the work undertaken by her departed father i.e. fighting superstition in India. No wonder, she was invited as chief guest to launch the trailer of forthcoming Marathi film ‘Aart‘, Produced by Dilip Shah, written & directed by Rajendra Sali, the film throws light on the Caste Panchayat system, which is still practiced in some parts of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, the writer-director of ‘Aart‘ film said, “Daily we read stories about injustice on women at different places in rural Maharashtra on this issue. Therefore, instead of opting for a commercial film, I decided to make a film on this sensitive issue.” Expressing her views on this subject, Mukta Dabholkar said, “Caste Panchayat does not only exist in Adivasi and illiterate people; but it also exists among the so called higher castes. Our organisation (ANS) has been fighting against the decisions by such Caste Panchayat. And, therefore, the subject dealt by the makers of this film, is very timely, as there is already pressure on Maharashtra Government to enforce a law against the rulings of such Caste Panchayats.”
‘Aart‘ film is all set to release on 20th May 2016 and the makers of the film have already planned a special screening of the film for Parliamentarians, to make them think seriously about the implementation of the law to stop injustice on helpless people. The film stars Shital Salunke, Ganesh Yadav, Jairaj Nair, Santosh Mayekar, Ajit Sawant, Ajit Bhagat and others. Lyrics and music by Suresh Ghaywat and cinematography by Manish Patel are other credits.
Music released for Marathi film ‘Made in Maharashtra’

We have heard about a popular brand ‘Made in India'; but now, we understand that there will be film with the title ‘Made in Maharashtra’. Produced by Shree Siddhivinayak Prasanna Creations the film will be presented by Jee media & Entertainment and A. R. Creations.
Directed by Nitesh Pawar, the music of this film was released recently at Dadar, Mumbai, in presence of artistes of the film, producers & director. Shri Satish Padve, trustee of Shree Siddhivinayak Mandir Trust was the chief guest on the occasion.
The film stars Bhau Kadam, Arun nalawade, Jitu Goswami, Priya Gamre, Pravin Garje, Shital Gaikwad and others. Music by Vilas Gurav, lyrics by Deepak Anjewar and DOP Hemant Salve are other credits. There are five songs in this film, rendered by popular singers in Marathi .
Veteran actor Janardan Parab is no more

Well known character artiste of Hindi and Marathi films and renowned Marathi stage artist Janardan Parab, is no more. He passed away today morning. He is survived by his film maker son Sarvesh Parab, daughter in law and grand children. He was active with his acting assignments for the past forty years and was last seen during the music release function of Kiran Nakti’s film ‘Cindrella‘, where he even gave speech, appealing all to watch this film in theatres.
Some of his best Marathi plays were ‘Avadhya‘, ‘Hamidabaichi Kothi‘ & ‘Kaka Kishacha‘. He had also worked very hard to promote Malvani language dramas. Besides performing in various Marathi and Hindi films, he had also directed a Marathi film ‘Kulaswamini Tuljabhavani‘. His one scene with Nana Patekar in Hindi film ‘Krantiveer‘ is still fresh in our memory. May his soul rest in peace.
Software Engineer turns Producer of multi-starrer Marathi film ‘One Way Ticket’

Komal Ramakant Unawane is a software engineer. But, her passion for films and events made her move towards this tinsel world. Last year, through her own brand ‘Mekbrand’, she co -sponsored Manali Jagtap’s fashion show, in aid of Umeed a charity organization. She also turned a co-producer when in September 2015 Marathi film ‘One Way Ticket‘ was launched in a big way. This film was earlier to be produced and directed by Bollywood film maker Kamal Nathani. But, now we find that Komal Unawane is the producer of ‘One Way Ticket‘ and the film is directed by veteran Amol Shetge.
Komal was well dressed up for the occasion, like a celebrity, during the first look launch of this film on Wednesday evening. She was first introduced to media persons, as the young producer of the film, by co producer Suresh Pai and director Amol Shetge. The film stars Sachit Patil, Gashmeer Mahajani, Amruta Khanvilkar, Sashank Ketkar & Neha Mahajan. While speaking about her entry into this field, Komal said that she always wanted to do something in this film industry. And, when she discussed about it, with her family members, she received support from them. “I had already travelled on cruise to Europe and hence, when I saw the script of this film, I was highly impressed and agreed to be the producer. It was a good team work and I am sure, Marathi film lovers are going to enjoy this film” she concluded. The film will be released all over Maharashtra on 10th June 2016.
‘Devyani’ lead actress finds a surprise gift, on the eve of her birthday

Celebrating birthdays of artistes on the sets of their film or TV serial, is a common practice. But, sometimes, it comes in the form of surprise, on the eve of artiste’s birthday. The lead actress Siddhi Karkhanis of the popular TV show ‘Devyani‘, was given surprise, when she visited the sets of her daily soap. The entire crew had planned a surprise birthday party for the talented actress, on the eve of her birthday. Siddhi was not only surprised by the impromptu birthday party, but also with the unique gift she received from the entire team.
Apart from the cake the entire team gifted Siddhi lots of lady finger (Bhendi) much to the surprise of Siddhi. Talking about the unique gift Director Karthik Kainde said, “Siddhi loves Bhindi sabzi and in a month she gets variety of the same sabzi for almost 15 days. She not only cooks and eats it herself but also feeds the entire crew with it. So, while discussing with the team as to what to buy for her, the entire team came up with the unique idea of gifting her Bhendi.”
Reacting on this surprise gift, Siddhi Karkhanis said, “The entire team is like a family to me and it was very sweet of them to celebrate my birthday .. The icing on the cake was gifting me Bhindi. Now, I will make sure I make that sabzi and feed them.”
Bollywood artistes join Priyadarshan & Prajakta in their film ‘Dhingana’

In the recent past, we have seen many Bollywood personalities forming part of Marathi films. And now, to add to that list will be popular Bollywood artistes Raza Murad, Shahbaaz Khan, Avtaar Gill and Kunika. All of them will be seen in Sameer Sadanand Patil’s forthcoming Marathi film ‘Dhingana’ directed by Chandrakant Dudhgaonkar. The film is at present in the post production stage.
All these Bollywood artistes will form the star cast of the film headed ‘TimePass-2‘ fame actor Priyadarshan Jadhav and Comedy Queen of small screen Prajakta Hanamghar. The other lead artistes of this film are, Anshuman Vichare & Swapnil Rajshekhar. Story of this film has been scripted by Hemant Edlabadkar, which music is provided by Shashank Powar and AmitRaj. According to the makers of this film, this will be a musical entertainment. Now, it remains to be seen, whether Priyadarshan will be able to generate Time Pass entertainment, in the company of Prajakta.
Makarand Mane & Mahesh Kale impress at National Awards

Film maker Makarand Mane is a happy man. His debut Marathi film ‘Ringan-The Quest‘ has been declared ‘Best Marathi Film‘ at the 63rd National film awards, announced on Monday. Another Marathi film personality and classical singer, Mahesh Kale has also impressed, by winning the Best Singer’s National award, for the popular Marathi film ‘Katyar Kaljat Ghusali‘.
Another award comes to ‘Daaravtha‘ a short film Starring Nishant Bhavsar, Nandita Patkar and Anurag Worlikar. The director of this film Nishant Roy Bombarde has won the best debut director’s award. Film maker Nagraj Manjule has also one more feather in his cap. This year, one artiste from his film ‘Sairat‘, Rinku Rajguru bagged the Special appreciation National award, for her performance in this film. ‘Lai Bhari‘ fame Marathi actress Tanvi Azmi bagged the best supporting actress National award , for her performance in the film ‘Bajirao Mastani‘.
This year, the best Indian film national award went to ‘Bahubali- The Beginning‘, while the best actor and best actress went to Mr. Amitabh Bachchan & Kangana Ranaut, for their performances in the films ‘Piku‘ and ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns‘ respectively.
‘Halal’ is inviting all the attention for its subject

Now days, women oriented subjects in Marathi films are inviting attention of the film lovers. And, if they are based on realistic subjects, the critics also acclaim such films. Forthcoming Marathi film ‘Halal’ has already won the best screenplay award at Pune International film festival. The film also received good response at Aurangabad International film festival, where it was screened, recently. The film will now be screened at Sanskruti Kaladarpan Film festival, having been shortlisted among 11 films, for the final round.
Directed by National award winning film director Shivaji Lotan Patil, the film deals with the theme of loyalty, love and the institution of marriage, which is deemed to be pious by society. It is also a story of human emotions, which depicts the trials and tribulations the women in our society have to go through. Starring Chinmay Mandlekar, Priyadarshan Jadhav, Pritam Kagne, Vijay Chavan, Chhaya Kadam, & Vimal Mhatre. Produced by Amol Kagne and Laxman Kagne the script of the film is written by Nishant Dhapse.
