‘Fandry’ and ‘Duniyadari’ to fight for Zee Gaurav awards
Besides fighting for ‘Best Film award’ in Zee Gaurav Puraskar, scheduled for 20th March 2014, two popular films of recent past ‘Fandry’ and ‘Duniyadari’ will also be fighting together in the categories like best direction & best supporting actress category. While ‘Fandry’ received separate nominations in the best editing, best cinematography, best child actor, best supporting actor, besides the three nominations mentioned above, ‘Duniyadari’ has received nominations in 11 categories separately, other than the three mentioned above.
Surprisingly, ‘Time Pass’ which was hit film of the recent past, after ‘Duniyadari’ hasn’t received many nominations, compared to these two films, except for the three nominations received in Best Singer ( male), Best music and best dialogues. However, there are surprise inclusion of films like ‘Avtarachi Goshta’, ‘Rege’, and ‘Astu’ in the best film category, to compete with ‘Duniyadari’ and ‘Fandry’. Incidentally, ‘Rege’, ‘Astu’ and ‘Avatarachi Goshta’ have also found nominations in few other categories too.
In the Marathi drama section of professional group, ‘The Death of a Conqueror’ , ‘Mr.& Mrs.’, ‘Thodasa magic Thodasa Logic’, ‘Ekada Pahava Na Karun’, & ‘Get Well Soon’ will fight for best Professional Drama category; while ‘Tu aani Mee’, ‘Price Tag’, ‘Lejhim Khelnari Pora’, ‘Cross Road’, & ‘Eka Gurkhyache Mahakavya’, will fight in the best experimental play category.
This time in the Zee Gaurav Awards committee the Jury comprising of Kanchan Nayak, Writer Girish Joshi, and Amar Mohile looked after the film section, while Ravindra Divekar, Vijay kenkre and Pradeep Rane were in charge of the professional dramas and the team comprising of Dr. Bandivadekar, Sanjay Mone and Vivek Lagoo were the Jury for Experimental plays selection.
Renowned Marathi poet & lyricist Sudhir Moghe is no more
Renowned Marathi Poet, lyricist and music director Sudhir Moghe is no more. He passed away due to brain haemorrhage at Dinanaath Mangeshkar Hospital, Pune, sometime back. His body will be kept at his Karve Road residence for sometime. According to reliable sources, he will be cremated at Vaikunth, Pune, today evening itself. Many prominent personalities from Marathi entertainment industry have expressed grief, on his death.
Known for some of his popular albums like ‘Adnyat TeerthaYatra’ ‘Bhannat Raan Vara’ ‘Mastit Bhetashil Kevha Majhiya’ ‘Majhe Man Tujhe Jhale’ ‘Ranguni Rangat Sarya’. Sudhir Moghe had penned lyrics for about 50 Marathi films, including some popular films like ;Aatmavishwas’, ‘Ek Daav Bhootacha’, ‘Kalat Nakalat’, ‘Janaki’, ‘Choukat Raja’. The most popular songs penned by him ‘Gomu Sangatine Majhya Tu…; and ‘Ratris Khel Chale..’, ‘Phite Andharache Jaale..’ are still fresh in the memory of music lovers in Maharashtra. Sudhir Moghe had also composed music for popular period TV serial ‘Swami’. Having won several state awards including the Dinanath Mangeshkar award for his contribution to music field, he was highly respected personality. ‘Campus Katta’ music launched at Pune’s Shanivarwada

The city of Pune, which is known for its importance in historical events in the past. And, ‘Shaniwarvada’ is one such place, which reminds all of us of its history. Producers Gadve family and director Sanjeev Kolte had an occasion to celebrate at this venue recently. The music of their forthcoming film ‘Campus Katta’ was launched here, in presence of President of dagdusheth Halwai Trust Mr. Ashokrao Godse and popular actor-producer-director Prashant Damle, who were invited as special guests. Also present on the occasion were music director Praveen Kunwar, Avadhoot Gupte, Swapnil Bandodkar, Bela Shende,Kirti Shilledar, Anandi Joshi, Santosh Juvekar, Sheetal Dabholkar, Rahul Dongre and others.
Few compositions from this film were presented by the singers, supported by Santosh Juvekar and Avadhoot Gupte, who joined them. The film stars Vikram Gokhale, Arun nalawade, Kishori Shahane, Swati Chitnis, Santosh Juvekar, Sheetal Dabholkar, Namrata Gaikwad and newcomer Rahul Dongre. Make up by Nitin Dandekar, choreography by Prashant Naik and still photography by Pritish Upasani are other credits.
Atul Kulkarni takes Pune-Goa drive for ‘Happy Journey’
As an actor Atul Kulkarni is known for his perfection and he puts in a lot of hard work to get into the skin of his role in every film. There is a method to his madness and a dedicated effort to excel in his craft. It is evident once again for a new role for a new film titled ‘Happy Journey’.
Happy Journey is produced by Everest Entertainment and is currently under production. The film is being shot in various locales of Pune, Goa, Velhe and Mangaon. A special vehicle (a house on wheels) has been created for this new film. It’s a Tempo Traveller which has been modified in to a CARAVAN by Imran who is an assistant with the master craftsman and car designer Dilip Chhabria.
Atul was not adept in driving this vehicle, and it so happens that in the film Atul has to drive the vehicle in quite a number of scenes. Precision being his forte, Atul immediately focused on learning to drive this vehicle. After getting trained, he drove the vehicle from Pune to Goa taking pit stops along the way, only to achieve a comfort level. It’s a rare quality one finds in today’s breed of actors to put in so much of effort to prepare for a role. By the time the director was ready to shoot the driving sequences in Goa, Atul had mastered driving this vehicle which was a delight for the crew as it became much easier to shoot the sequences with Atul along with his co-stars Priya Bapat and Pallavi Subhash.
Happy Journey produced by Everest Entertainment is scheduled to release in September 2014, and one is waiting to watch this delightful film which boasts of a crackling start cast.
Bhau Kadam to play ‘Baba’ in ‘Arey Soda Batli Bai’
Known for his humour filled comedy roles, Bhau Kadam has always entertained audience of stage and television. He has played variety of characters, representing common man. Now, he will be playing a totally different role of a ‘Baba’ in forthcoming Marathi film ‘Arey Soda Batli Bai’ , to be directed by Qayum Kazi. The film, which will be highlighting a social issue to counter addiction and blind faith, is scripted by the director himself.
Now, what type of ‘Baba’ Bahu is going to portray, will be known only after release of this film on 28th March 2014. The other artistes of this film are Vedashree Dali, Vijay Chavan, Suhas Palshikar, Kishore Nandlaskar, Kishor Chougule, Kishori Ambiye, Sanivani Jadhav, Ajit Bhagat, Bhushan Ghadi, Deepashree Naik and others.
Grand music launch of ‘Taptapadi’
One does not understand, why all music launch ceremonies of new Marathi films are always held behind schedule time? Nevertheless, it was a worth wait, after that sound and light checking, which took about an hour; when finally show anchor Abhijit Khandkekar appeared on the dais and began introducing the artistes of ‘Taptapadi’, behind the screen like Singer Savani Shende, lyricist Vaibhav Joshi and music directors Sumeet Bellari & Rohit Nagbhide; who besides talking about their experiences, gave glimpse of their live performance. Even the three lead artistes Kashyap Parulekar,Veena Jamkar and Shruti Marathe gave short live performance on two songs. Then the entire team of the film comprising of Sachin Baliram Nagargoje, Hemant Bhavsar, Shard Ponkshe, Ashwini Ekbote along with above mentioned artistes, joined for discussion with the anchor, who questioned them, on behalf of the media.
After the discussion, there was traditional music release ceremony, in presence of parents of the director Nagargoje. The film is due for release coinciding with Gudhi Padwa i.e. 28th March 2014 and will be released in 5 states simultaneously, along with Maharashtra. The other artistes of this film comprise of Neena Kulkarni, Sharad Ponkshe, Ashwini Ekbote, Ambrish Deshpande, Rahul Vaidya,Neha Bam, Madhura Navade, Vedan Kulkarni & Prem Kulkarni. ‘Taptapadi’ is inspired by Ravindranath Tagore’s story ‘Drishtidaan’ and hence more attention has been given to songs, music, art direction and other aspects, keeping in mind the multi-faceted personality of Tagore.
The promos of songs were played on the LCD projection system during the first one hour of waiting and hence, perhaps the music CD’s were not given to all the media people. But, the music and lyrics, as heard there, were certainly good. Even the names of five states were not disclosed by the anchor. However, after the function, the director while speaking to MarathiMovieWorld, confirmed that they had planned to release the film in parts of Gujarat, Goa, Belgaum and Indore. When asked, as to why not Hyderabad, he said that he was not aware about the Maharashtrian population in Hyderabad. But, agreed to explore the possibility.

Her first film to be presented by Video palace, will be ‘Mitwa‘ which will be a love story, on the music of Shankar Ehsan Loy, with contributions also coming from other popular music directors in Marathi industry.
Directed by Swapna Waghmare-Joshi, the film will have Swapnil Joshi and Sonali Kulkarni in the lead. The search for one more leading actress is on for which talent hunt is going on the channel 9X Jhakaas.

Gopinath Munde gives Muhurat clap for ‘Ticha Umbartha’

Marathi films are going worldwide. In the recent past, we have seen many Bollywood personalities entering Marathi film industry, either as actors, directors or producers. The recent entry has been that of Bollywood action director Ravi Diwan, who has turned producer with his debut Marathi film ‘Ticha Umbartha’. Recently, the muhurat of this film was held at Ravindra Natya Mandir, Mumbai . after chief guest Gopinath Munde Dy. Leader of Opposition party in Lok sabha, gave the clap, director Pradeep Ghonsikar called Sound , light and camera to take the muhurat shot on Tejaswini Pandit, Chinmay Mandlekar and Jyoti Chandekar.
Many prominent personalities like Sunil Shetty, Makarand Deshpande, Bharat Dabholkar, kanchan Adhikari and others were present on this occasion. From the title of the film, it becomes clear that it is a woman oriented subject, which also stars Harsha Khandeparkar, Suyash Tilak, Tulika Prakash Nikam, Bharat Sharma, Jayant Payekar, Sheetal Shukla, Abhinay Patekar and child artist Aditi Sawant. Cinematography by Yogesh Jani, art direction by Nitin Desai and music by Shreyas – Preet are the other credits.a
Sharad Pawar releases first look of Film ‘Yashwantrao Chavan’
Yashwantrao Chavan shall always remain a legend of Maharashtra Politics, when somebody talks about the iron man of Maharashtra in Central Government. After C. D. Deshmukh, if anyone from Maharashtra who had risen to the highest rank of Central cabinet, it was Yashwantrao Chavan. After heading the Maharashtra Government, he was invited by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to Delhi, to become part of the Central cabinet. He headed several important ministries and always remained loyal to Nehru family. To pay homage to this great leader from Maharashtra and to make today’s young generation aware of his contribution to the country, the Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan under the chairmanship of Union Minister Sharad Pawar and in association with the Mahararashtra Government, have produced a Marathi feature film, which is a biopic titled ‘Yashwantrao Chavan – a chronicle of storm’.
On Friday evening, in presence of Union Minister and NCP chief Mr. Sharad Pawar, the first look of this film was released before the media. Also present on the occasion were Ms. Supriya Sule, Mr. Arun Sadhu, who has written the script of this film, Mr. Jabbar Patel, who has directed this film, Mr. Anand Modak, who has composed the music of this film, artistes, singers and crew members of the film. Officials of Zee group, including Mr. Nitin Kini were also present, as the film is being distributed by Essel Vision productions on 14th March in 250 theatres across Maharashtra.
After briefing about the film, Mr. Ajit Bhure, who anchored the show, passed on the responsibility to the director Dr.Jabbar Patel, who introduced each and every artiste and crew member of the film, to the chief guest and media. Actor Ashok Lokhande will be portraying the iconic leader on the screen, while his younger days role will be portrayed by Om Bhutkar. Hindi theatre artiste Lubna Salim will be portraying the role of Yashwantrao’s wife Venutai, while his mother’s role will be portrayed by Meena Naik. Supriya Vinod is playing the role of Indira Gandhi, while Benjamin Gilani is playing Jawaharlal Nehru, in this film. The other artistes of the film are Vaishali Dabhade, Satish Alekar, Rahul Solapurkar, Yashpal Sarnath and Nana Patekar. Bhargavi Chirmule is presenting a lavani in this film, under the choreography of veteran Leela Gandhi.
After the official announcement, Mr. Sharad Pawar also spoke about the great leader from Maharashtra, with whom he was associated as a Youth leader of the Congress. He recalled the memories of his good old days in his association.
