‘Singham Cha Baap’ launched with muhurat

Director Anil Muke seems to be inspired by some of the hit films. Last time, he made a film ‘Tatya Vinchu Lage Raho’. Now, inspired by the success of Hindi film ‘Singham’, he will be making a film titled ‘Singham Cha Baap’. Muhurat of this film was held in Sangamner, in presence of Maharastra Revenue Minister Mr. Balasaheb Throat.
The film, which revolves around a committed Police Officer, is being made under the banner New Maratha Entertainment and stars Abhijit Rahane, Bhoomi Ahire, Kishore Nandalskar, Viren Patil, Sanjay Dabholkar, Raj Bagulkar, Dinkar Gavande and Vishal Kulthe. Music by Radhachandra and cinematography by Atul Jagadale are other credits. The film’s shooting will trake place in Mumbai, Bhandardara, Sangamner and Malshej Ghat.
‘Vijayabai Aani Aapan’ fest in Mumbai and other places

Renowned actress and reputed director Vijaya Mehta is all set to release her autobiography ‘Jhimma’ on the occasion of her birthday on 4th November 2012. A special programme has been organized by Mr. Virendra Chitrav and Ajit Bhure at Yashwant Natya Mandir , Matunga, at 8 pm, where there will also be an exhibition of photos covering her journey in the entertainment industry.
Many prominent personalities like Anupam Kher, Nana Patekar, Bharati Achrekar, Reema, Swati Chitnis, Neena Kulkarni, Suhas Joshi, Ravindra Mankani, Pradeep Velankar, Madhura Velankar and others will be present. 300 seats will be reserved for invitees and for others, passes will be issued on first come first serve basis.
The fest will continue at Pune on 6th and 7th November at New English school and FTII respectively. On this occasion, there will be a short film and clippings from Vijayabai’s plays will be shown; besides interaction with her. Similar fests have been organized at Ratnagiri – 8th and 9th December 2012, Solapur ( 15th,16th and 17th December) and Dombivali ( 29th December) followed by other places in Maharashtra and places like Goa, Indore, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kolkatta, Delhi and few foreign countries.
Sandeep Kulkarni speaks about his latest film ‘Night School’

‘Night School’,” said renowned Marathi actor Sandeep Kulkarni, while addressing a press conference hosted by Producer Nitin Mawani at Hotel Midtown Pritam, Dadar on Friday evening. He further added that when the script was shown to him, he did not know some of the truths and felt that it was a challenge doing this role. The occasion was to release the First look of his forthcoming film ‘Night School’. Also present on the occasion were writer-director Mansingh Pawar, actress Deepa Chafekar, (who is also assistant director of this film), Shrikant Yadav and other members of the unit.
In this film, Sandeep accepts the challenge of a social activist running a Night School, to join his school and show 100% result, as he proved in his standard day school. But, after accepting this job, he has to face many problems, including the harassment from anti social elements in the locality and the builder, who eyes on the school plot for redevelopment. Deepa Chafekar plays Sandeep’s wife in this film, while Prasad Pandit plays the Night School operator and social worker. Others in the supporting roles are Shrikant Yadav, Raju Mawani, Raju Govilkar, Anvay bender, Shivraj Walvekar, Ashit Ambekar and about 40 others playing the students, out of which 25 are real life night school students.
Director Mansingh Pawar looked confident about his film and thanked the producer for coming forward to make this film. “We have shot the film at actual locations to present reality,” he said. While speaking to Marathi Movie World, he said that he was also trying to send his film at International Film festivals, for presenting a universal theme; i.e. importance of education to change the life of people, who do laborious jobs during daytime and yet would like to study after their work hours.
The film has two songs on the music of Babhu Bhosale. Editing by Paresh Manjrekar and photography by Prakash Shinde are other credits. The film is all set for release on 2nd November 2012.
Raj, Sharmila release music of ‘Mokala Shwaas’

Female Foeticide is a major social problem in India. Cases of Social discrimination against women and a preference for sons have come to light through media expose. Film maker Kanchan Adhikari has taken up this issue through her forthcoming film ‘Mokala Shwaas’. Music release of this film was held on Thursday at Ravindra Natya Mandir in presence of dynamic leader of Maharashtra Navanirman Sena Mr. Raj Thackeray and his wife Sharmila Thackeray.
Mr. Thackeray not only praised Ms. Adhikari for taking up this sensitive issue in her film but also appreciated the meaningful lyrics and music suited to the theme of this film. The MP3 released on the occasion contain 14 songs, rendered by Vaishali Samant, which are real expressions of the characters in this film. Lyrics penned by Kishore kadam, popularly known as Soumitra on the music of Milind Ingale are the highlight of this film, besides the story.

Life is so precious! says ‘He Vaat Jeevanachi’

Suicide and killing of fetus today are two major social crimes happening frequently. Forthcoming Marathi film “He Vaat Jeevanachi” has dealt with these two important issues, keeping the entertainment value intact. According to Mr. Harband Siddhu, director of this film, he has tried to show how to fight depressions in life.
He is a firm believer of “I had no intentions of getting preachy. It is a film. But as part of the story line, it is very told beautifully,” says the director.
The film presents the story of an old couple Savitri (Alka Kubal Athlye) & Sridhar Deshpande (Dr. Vilas Ujjvane) who suffer loneliness, for their personal loss. Savitri grieves deeper and she recovers after experiencing the pain of Shalaka, a stranger played by Puja Naik.
Shalaka is dejected with life and is trying to commit suicide. She is pregnant, all alone and scared. So, she sees suicide as the only option, not knowing that it is the biggest sin of killing an unborn soul in the process. The Character of Shridhar Deshpande played by Dr Vilas Ujjvane in this film is shown as a compassionate, strong willed and helpful person. He not only prevents Shalaka from taking this drastic step; but, also brings her to his own house and asks his wife to help her overcome the problem. “A positive deed attracts another positive reaction”. This is what the the film has tried to convey through its universal message.
With the star cast of Alka Kubal Athlye, Dr. Vilas Ujjvane, Puja Naik, Subodh Bhave (Guest Appearance), film is all set to release on 26 October 2012.
New Film ‘Ramaat Ravan’ highlight injustice on men

In every obedient and trustworthy person we see the image of Lord Ram. But, the same person turns violent to fight against injustice, taking the form of Ravan. Based on this ideology, new Marathi film ‘Ramaat Ravan’ is being produced by Deepak Chaudhary and Digamber Yeravkar.
Highlight of this film is that Kailash Kini is playing the lead role in this film, besides writing and directing this film. He has also penned the lyrics of this film and has also composed the music . Generally, we find injustice on women by men; but, in this film, it is the other way. The other star cast of the film comprises of Harshali Zine, Kamalesh Sawant,Gajendra Chouhan, Ajay Wadhavkar, harshada kulkarni and others. Ashok Shinde and Megha Ghadge make guest appearance in this film.
Marathi play ‘Angai’ to host Silver Jubilee show

Written and directed by Pratap Phad, new Marathi play ‘Angai’ will celebrate their Silver Jubilee on the Dasera day with 4.30 pm show at Yashwant Natyamandir, Matunga, Mumbai. Highly acclaimed by critics, the play does not have any popular artistes. Yet, the play holds the audience to their seats, not for presenting so called horror; but for its gripping presentation on stage. The play is not terrifying; but certainly absorbing.
For any drama of this kind, it is necessary to have proper setting with suitable light effects and background sound. And, ‘Angaai’ has succeeded in doing so. The play has a social message, besides wonderful performances coming from talented artistes like Reshma Gokhale, Ketan karande, Swapnil Khot, gauri Kulkarni, Chhaya kadam and Rugveda Sawant.
Tumchya Sathi Kaypan’on Star Pravah from 22nd Oct

Star Pravah will launch their new couple game show ‘Tumchya Sathi Kaypan’ from October 22nd, Monday to Saturday at 6.30 pm. ‘Tumchya Sathi kaypan’ is a fun game show, which will focus on the relationship between a husband and wife; where the husband performs a series of tasks across several rounds to win the wife’s heart.
The show will be hosted by popular anchor and Marathi actor Sunil Barve. An afternoon with the unit of ‘Eka kshanaat’

Not many Marathi Drama producers are keen to invite the media for the rehearsal of their play, before its actual launch day. But, Producer Uday Dhurat of Mauli Productions and director Sharad Ponkshe, who is making his debut as a director, seemed confident about their presentation. It was a pleasure to watch the important scenes with proper setting, lighting and music, besides witnessing the wonderful performances by the main artistes.
In this action packed interesting play, Sharad Ponkse himself is playing lead role opposite Ashwini Ekbote. ‘Mala Sasu Haviy’ TV serial fame Sachin Deshpande plays an important role of a Psychiatrist in this play along with another actor Suchet Savai. In any Marathi play, set design, background music and lighting play a very role. But, in this drama, the director has also used Audio Visual presentation to create more interest in the play. Therefore Rajan Tamhane, who is in charge of lighting effect was busy during this rehearsal, supervising the impact of the same.
Writer Sandeep Jangam who has already succeeded as a writer, while Speaking about the story of this play, Sandeep said that he had focused on the series of events taking place around in the city and how it affected the members of a family. “Writing for stage plays is more challenging, as interest should be generated among the audience, by unfolding the happening of events in proper order,” he said.
Speaking about his debut as a director, Mr. Sharad Ponkshe did admit that this play and role in it was offered to him by his favourite producer almost a year ago. “I was not sure about accepting the same, as I wanted some changes. Therefore, I suggested that I would perform in this play, provided I was also given a chance to direct this play. With subsequent sittings with producer and writer, finally we decided on final script under my direction,” he concluded.
Sachin Deshpande, who plays a Psychiatrist in this play, had just returned from the sets of his TV serial ‘Mala Sasu Haviy’, immediately joined the unit to help his co artistes, to offer feedback about their entries and exits. “ I accepted this role, as I found this play very interesting. I am glad that I am part of this team,” he said. The entire focus during this rehearsal was on Ashwini Ekbote, as the actress was rehearsing for the most important scenes in this play, where she was expected to come out with her emotions spontaneously, at every given situation. And, the versatile actress, proved that she was ready for the auspicious launch day of Dasera, on 24th October 2012 . Ashwini did give those most difficult three scenes in the company of her co-star Sharad Ponkshe, who was at ease and enjoying every moment, being the director. During every break he complimented his team and discussed about minor changes required with his sound and light experts.
Set design by Ajay Pujari and music by Ashok Patki are other credits of this play. One thing is sure that the production quality and remarkable performances will win the hearts of the theatre audience. ‘Shivaji-The real Hero’ to release in four languages

Generally, we find action filled south Indian films being released in three or four languages at a time. But, now a new Marathi film ‘Shivaji- The real Hero’ will be released in four languages at a time. Produced by Sadashiv Patil and directed by Shaktishankar, this film will be simultaneously released in three other languages i.e. Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, besides Marathi.
Recently audio CD release of this film took place in presence of Bollywood producer – director K.C. Bokadia, when besides the unit members of this film, Ms. Sushma Shiromani was also present. This film is an action film, which revolves around a murder mystery. Bharat jadhav plays the role of Police Inspector in this film. Other other star cast of the film comprises of Siddharth Jaju, Manisha Kelkar, Megha Ghadge, Niranjan, Gurudatt Lad, Dilip Sandvilar and Rashidbhai.
