Now, female Gabbar Singh in ‘Touring Talkies’

Actress Trupti Bhoir who made her debut through Marathi films through ‘Tujhya Majhya Sansarala Aani Kaay Hava’ followed by her success in films like ‘Agadbam’ and ‘Hello Jai Hind'; will now be seen in a different role- that of Chandi, a female in Gabbar Singh style in forthcoming Marathi film Touring Talkies’ made under the banner of Yograj Films.
Mr. Gajendra Ahire, who has written the script of this film, will also be directing this film. Anil Pemgirikar, who had done the make up for ‘Agadbam’ has been engaged for this film too. The other star cast of the film comprises of Kishore Kadam, Subodh Bhave, Nehha Pendse, Suhas Palshikar, Milind Shinde, Vaibhav Mangale and Chinmay Sant.
Abhijit Gholap felicitates ‘Deool’ team

Abhijit Gholap, producer of ‘Deool’ had an occasion to celebrate. His film had won National award on debut. The Software professional turned producer had already committed that he would produce three Marathi films. Now, after winning the national award for ‘Deool’, he is busy finalizing casting for his next film, which is also based on village backdrop. So far, he has decided on two actors, namely Ashok Saraf and Subodh Bhave. The remaining cast will be finalized soon.
But, Friday evening at Hotel Sun N Sand, was for his team of ‘Deool’. Right from leading artistes of the film to the technicians, all were present excluding Nana Patekar. They were all felicitated one by one with a memento at the hands of Maharashtra Cultural Minister Mr. Sanjay Deotale, who was the chief guest on this occasion. Initially, Mr. Abhijit Gholap invited two stalwarts of the film Umesh Kulkarni and Girish Kulkarni. Speaking about his involvement in this film, Girish became emotional and narrated his past experience with theatre. He thanked all his old colleagues, for all that he had achieved today. Mr. Sanjay Deotale appreciated the success of this film at the national level .
Mr. Naseeruddin Shah, in his short but sweet speech praised the entire cast of the film and thanked Mr. Abhijit Gholap for producing such a wonderful film. Many prominent personalities from Marathi film industry were present, including the grand old lady of films- Sulochana Didi. Mr. Gholap personally went towards her seat to felicitate her. Among other celebrities, presence of Ashutosh Gowarikar, Mahesh Manjrekar, Renuka Shahane with hubby- Ashutosh, Neena Kulkarni, Bharati Achrekar, Sonali Kulkarni with Nachiket, Jyoti Subhash, Amruta Subhash, Megha Dhade, Smita Tambe, Usha Nadkarni, Sandeep Kulkarni was something special. They were all felicitated by Mr. Gholap.
In short, it was a grand function and for Abhijit Gholap, it was grand day, as rightly mentioned by the director it was a day to celebrate Sachin Tendulkar’s century of centuries. Spruha Joshi anchored the show.
4th NIFF 2012 begins from 23rd March

e city of Nashik has special significance. The very first Indian film was visualised and produced here by Dadasaheb Phalke that acted as the trigger for the genesis of the Indian film industry – a giant in the global entertainment map today.
The 4th Nashik International Film festival( NIFF) begins with an Opening Event on 23rd March at CINEMAX Foyer & Screens, City Centre Mall, Nashik.
There will be NIFF Master Workshop by Audrius Stonys. This is a workshop cum documentary film making competition, mentored by the acclaimed European film maker from Lithuania. After an application and selection process, 4 teams of 5 young film makers will ideate, shoot & edit a documentary each, not exceeding 5 minutes within the festival’s duration of 4 days to be screened at the closing ceremony on the 25th day of March.
There will be following events during the festival between 23rd- 25th March.
• Continent Focus: Screenings of European Film Academy’s award winning Package of 15 films
• Region Focus: Screening of Poetic Documentaries from the Baltic Region of Europe

Ram Kondilkar honoured with best Publicist award

Marathi Chitrapat Parivaar, a Governing body of Pune Journalists recently honoured Ram Kondilkar with the best Film Publicist award for his excellent publicity work for the Marathi film ‘Superstar’. Incidentally, Ram has also done the publicity of National award winning film ‘Deool’. In the recent past, he was also associated with some prominent award winning films like ‘Taryanche Bait’ , ‘Jogwa’, ‘Vihir’, ‘Valu’, ‘Saat Chya Aat Gharaat’, ‘Sawarkhed Ek Gaon’, ‘Pandhra’, ‘Gabhricha Paus’, ‘Sanai Choughude’, ‘Not Only Mrs. Raut’ and many other popular films.
The award was presented to him in Pune, at the National Film Archieves Auditorium by Script writer Sanjay Pawar. After receiving the award, Mr. Kondilkar attributed his success to his journalist friends, for their support. “It is because of their love and cordial relationship, I am able to carry out this work,” he said. Even otherwise, Ram has been very popular among Mumbai scribes, for the kind of personal attention he gives to each one of them. He is selective about the films and pays more attention on each and every aspect of the film, in its publicity; which in turn benefits the producer to reach out to maximum people.
New serial ‘Devyani’ on Star Pravah from 19th March

From 19th March onwards at 8.30 pm on Star Pravah, get ready to witness the journey of a young girl Devyani and her tryst with life post marriage. It is said that marriages are made in heaven which we solemnize during our existence; however there is a stark difference between dreams and reality!
STAR Pravah, brings alive this thought, through its newest fiction ‘Devyani’. The show will replace ‘Bandh Reshmanche’. ‘Devyani’ is the story of a young college going girl whose life witnesses a sea change, as she enters the wedlock with her obsessive and uncouth lover Sangram Vikhe Patil. While Devyani is a simple girl, who believes in her father’s principles, Sangram is a complete opposite; who never follows rules in his life and is his own master. The show changes course when Sangram falls head over heels with Devyani and is hell bent on winning her while Devyani’s marriage has been arranged with Dr Namit. What happens next forms the premise of the show.
The show introduces Shivani Surve and Sangram in lead roles, while the versatile Nagesh Bhonsale makes his come back to Marathi GEC space. Nagesh Bhonsale will be seen playing the head of Vikhe Patil family, father of Sangram. The show is produced by Anuj Saxena’s Maverick Productions in association with Swapna Waghmare Joshi and Sanjay Memane. After a successful stint in the South, Anuj Saxena now enters the Marathi GEC Space with Devyani.
‘Bokad’ all set for release on 6th April

Praveen Raja Karle’s film ‘Bokad’ which is set on the backdrop of a village and centered around a Goat belonging to a village Sarpanch, is now all set for release all over Maharashtra on 6th April 2012. So far we have witnessed the importance of various animals in Marathi films like the Dog, Ox and a Monkey; now it’s the turn of a Goat. ‘Bokad’ is co-produced by veteran cameraman Manu Sawant, who has also done cinematography of this film.
However, the highlight of the film is that it has 20 songs on the music of Avadhoot Gupte and every song unfolds the mystery behind the story of this film. With Hema Deo and Anil Deo as the other co-producers, this musical comedy film has popular artistes from Marathi industry like Sayaji Shinde, Kishore Kadam, Vinay Apte, Priya Berde, Sharad Ponkshe, Uday Sabnis, Jaywant Wadkar, Sanjay Belose, Megha Dhade, Ganesh Khedekar, Shubhangi Sawant, Manasi Marathe along with 20 college students, who are making their debut through this film. The film’s story is written by Rahul salvi and screenplay and dialogues are by Bhalchandra Kubal.

Samrruddhi Porey to make a film on Dr. Amte

Advocate Samrruddhi Porey, who made a national award winning Marathi film ‘Mala Aai Vhaychay’ on her debut, is now all set to make her next film on the life of Dr. Prakash Amte, renowned social worker in Maharashtra.
Ms. Porey, who has seen the work of Dr. Prakash Amte and his wife Manda closely in the jungles of Hemalkasa, is inspired to make a film on the life of this couple. She wants to make a world class film, so that the work done by the couple, be known to people across the globe. The film’s screenplay is being written in three languages, i.e. Marathi, Hindi and English, which clearly indicates that it is going to be a big project.
The part of the film will also be shot in USA with the help of Mr. Ashish Chougule, President of BMM. The cast of the film will be finalized shortly.
Siya & Upendra play protagonists in ‘Chirgut’

We have seen Siya Patil in different roles in Marathi films. And now, she plays yet another challenging role of a social activist in forthcoming Marathi film ‘Chirgut’, which is due for release on 30th March 2012. Representing an NGO, she supports her co star Upendra Limaye, who fights against injustice on the most neglected class of the society. Chinmay Mandlekar also has an important role in this realistic film, which has been shot in the slums of Turbhe, Navi Mumbai.
Both Upendra and Siya are all excited to see the response to their film, since both of them have worked very hard during the shooting of this film, which is directed by Pradeep Ghosnikar. Story of this film is written by Dilip Jagtap and screenplay and dialogues are by Sanjay Pawar. Music by Kanak Raj, lyrics by Guru Thakur & Dilip Jagtap, camera by Madhu Rao are the other credits. The film also stars Madhav Abhyankar, Dr. Sharad Bhutadia, Nitin Bhajan, Ajit Bhajan, Sanjay Kulkarni, Yayati Rajwade, ,Sanjay Sugavkar, Pramod Shinde& Nayan Jadhav.
Meghana Naidu makes her debut in Marathi films

Bollywood and South film star Meghana Naidu made her debut in Marathi films through Gajendra Bandivadekar’s forthcoming Marathi film ‘Karun Tak Golmaal’, which stars Aniket Vishwasrao and newcomer Girija Joshi in the lead roles. Meghna performed on an item song ‘Shaila Mee Shaila’, which will score over Munni and Sheela numbers, according to the maker of this film.
The song penned by Rajesh Wamgude is rendered by Sudesh Bhosale and Poornima on the music of Nirmalkumar and choreography of Umesh Jadhav. Two more songs of this film have already been picturised at beautiful locations of Konkan, according to the producer Suvarna Bandivadekar. The other star cast of the film comprises of Mohan Joshi, Ashok Samarth,Uma Sardeshmukh, Dhananjay Mandrekar, Viju Khote, Vidyadhar Joshi, Jayant Wadkar, Arwind Dhanu and Sunil Shinde.
