Sanskruti Kala Darpan declare nominations for 2012 awards

For the past 12 years Sanskuti Kala Darpan has been felicitating personalities from Marathi stage and film industry, by declaring various awards for them. This year they have spread their wings further by organizing a Marathi Drama and film festival at the beginning of this year. The winners will be declared during the ‘Sankruti Kala Darpan Gaurav Rajani Awards’ on 24th March 2012.
The announcement to this effect was made by the organizers, on Sunday 4th March, at Hotel Kohinoor Continental, Mumbai, in presence of many prominent personalities from Marathi entertainment industry and special invitees. Speaking about this years award ceremony, which will be held in a big way, The president Mr. Chandrashekhar Sandwe and Working President ms. Archana Nevrekar said that this year, they have decided to include even Television serial producers and artistes for their awards. In the Drama and film category, they have decided offer cash prizes. In the film category the first three prizes will be Rs. 2 lakh, Rs.1.5 lakh and 1 lakh respectively; while in the Drama category the first three prizes will be Rs. 1.5 lakh, Rs.1 lakh and Rs. 75,000/- respectively.
This year to finalize the nominations for the Professional plays, the judges were Mr. Pradeep Kabre, Anuradha Rajadhyaksha, Amruta Rao, Sheetal Kardekar and Ranjit Masurekar. For Experimental plays category, the role of judges was played by Ashok Kulkarni, Pratibha Amrute, and Vasudha Sahasrabuddhe. In the film’s category, Mr. Ajay Phansekar, A. Radhaswamy, Saumitra Pote, Santosh Bhingarde and Kanchan Adhikari, short listed the films while in the Television section Ms. Rekha Sahay played the role of a judge. In the Experimental plays category, ‘Ajintha’, ‘Lakh lakh Chanderi’ and ‘Sangeet Kone Eke Kaali’ have been nominated, while in the Professional plays category, ‘Bharat Bhagyavidhata’, ‘ Mee Revati Deshpande, ‘Keshava Madhava’ ,’Lagnabambaal’ and ‘Sukhanshi Bhandato Aamhi’ have been short listed. In the Film’s section, ‘Deool’, ‘Khel Mandala’, ‘Shala’, ‘Gajar’ and ‘Balgandharva’ are nominated while in the TV serials section, the following serials have been nominated , ‘Swapnanchya Palikadle’, ‘Suvasini’ and ‘Tujavin Sakhya Re’. Marathi stars light up ‘Chaitrachahool’ Evening

The presence of well known Marathi stars lighted up the ‘Chaitrachahool’ evening, with their presences and performances. Besides felicitating two women personalities namely Sanjana Kapoor and Mukta Barve with ‘Dhyas Puraskar’, for their contribution to Theatre art, the organizers had also hosted some entertainment programme on the occasion to celebrate this year’s Women’s special event, at Ravindra Ratya mandir, Prabhadevi.
While, actress Sukanya Kulkarni presented a skit from popular Marathi play ‘Tee Phulrani’, Mukta Barve presented her few scenes from her popular play ‘Kabaddi Kabaddi’. Pratiksha Lonkar, Rekha Bade and Chimayee Sumeet read out some extracts from Marathi plays ‘Dhyani Mani’, ‘Purush’ and ‘Baby’ respectively. Madhavi Juvekar, Sampada Joglekar, Spruha Joshi, Madhavi Soman, Purva Pawar, Leena Bhagwat, Neela Sohani, Shruti Bhide and Shruti Nigade were part of other presentations. Ms. Sulbha Deshpande and Dr. Auna Dhere, who presented the awards, spoke on the occasion. Sachin Mote directed the event, that involved many prominent personalities like Sheetal Talpade, Ajit Dandekar, Vinod Pawar, Kishori Kukade, Gopi Kukade and Mahendra Pawar in the successful hosting of this event.
Mrunal Kulkarni launches her film in a big way

The charming actress turned director Mrunal Kulkarni launched her new Marathi film ‘Prem Mhanje Prem Mhanje Prem Asata’ in a big way at Bhaidas hall, Vile Parle, in presence of Bollywood stars and celebrities. Hema Malini was the star attraction along with Kiran Shantaram, Pankaj Dheer, Nitish Bharadwaj, Pallavi Joshi, BJP Mumbai President Vinod Tawade, Director Prakash Bhende, former actress Uma Bhende, Smita Gavankar, Screenplay writer Manisha Korde and many others.
The film is based on Mrunal’s own story; but, the screenplay and dialogues of this film are penned by Manisha Korde, who is already a big name in Bollywood. Mrunal herself is directing this film, besides acting along with well known artistes like Pallavi Joshi, Sachin Khedekar, Vikram Gokhale, Sunil Barve & Suhas Joshi.
While speaking on the occasion about her film, Mrunal Kulkarni said that the film defines love in a different way, which will be well accepted by not only today’s young generation but the seniors too. “My script is the hero of this film and I am sure you will accept it after watching this film. We are planning to complete this film as quickly as possible , with the shooting schedule that begins shortly,” she added.
‘Matter’ is all set for release on 2nd March

There are many children today, who are deprived of the love and affection of parents. Some of them find place in remand homes. But, what happens to such children, we all know. Not all of them are fortunate to find the right change in their life. Many of them are spotted by anti social elements and they turn criminals.
The forthcoming marathi film ‘Matter’ produced by Poonam Shende and directed by Satish Motling, talks about four such friends Pakya, Babbya, Raja and Rony. Three of them are sent to remand home during their young age, as they are implicated in a murder. How they fall into the trap of underworld people and how they are forced to work for them, is all that the film tries to show. The film has also tried to present their emotions, through this action packed film.
Starring Santosh Juvekar, Jitendra Joshi, Rajesh Shrigarpure, Sushant Shelar, the film also has a big team comprising of Sameer Dharmadhikari, Usha Nadkarni, Surekha Kudchi, Megha Dhade, Minal Ghorpade, Yogini Chouk, Javed Haider, Anita Vishwasrao, Digvijay Rohidas, Ashok Kulkarni, Mahesh Kokate, Narayan Jadhav, and Deepak Vetkar. The film also presents Politician Jitendra Awahad in a special role. Story and Screenplay by Atmaram Dharne, Cinematography and direction by Satish Motling, sound by Sandeep Raul, Art by Prashant Rane, the film has music by Abhijit Kavthalkar, who has offered total 11 songs in this film. Matter is due for release on 2nd March 2012.
Bharat Pawar to present his ‘Marathi Celebrity Calendar’

Who says that there is no glamour in Marathi entertainment ? Today, our Marathi film industry also has stars wearing fashion designed clothes and displaying glamorous looks.
This is what young photographer Bharat Pawar has tried to show through his ‘Celebrity Calendar. Having no background of this art, Bhaarat trained himself in this field to establish himself among the top commercial photographers of today.
This dynamic photographer initially trained himself as assistant to wellknown photographers like Atul Sidhye and Bunty Prashant. On 20th December 2012, Bhaarat’s unique ‘celebrity calendar’ will be released by Music director duo- Ajay- Atul in Mumbai. This calendar has collection of 24 photographs of celebrities with a particular concept for each one of them. Speaking about his concept, Bhaarat says, “In this collection, you will find each celebrity dressed up in costume, in which you have not seen them till now.”
Bhaarat has already worked with many popular artistes like . Amol Palekar, Ramesh Dev, Ashok Saraf, Mahesh Majrekar and Bharat Jadhav and is presently working with young artistes like Amurta Kanvilkar, Sonalee, Siddharth Jadhav, Ajay Atul, Aniket Vishwarao, & Subodh Bhave. SKD debate on promotion of Marathi films

On the 2nd day of Sanskruti Kaladarpan Marathi film festival, a debate was held on the topic ‘Promotion of Marathi films’ . Actor Milind Gavli, Producer Director Viju Mane, Producer- director kanchan Adhikari, Journalist Amit Bhandari, PRO Ganesh Gargote, Marathi Movie World founder Jitendra More and Designer Milind Matkar took part in the debate and expressed their views on this topic. Viju Mane felt that by copying the style of Bollywood, many Marathi films fail to impress, while Ganesh gargote felt that to compete with Hollywood and Bollywood, Marathi films needed better promotion.
While speaking about the Online promotion, Mr. Jitendra More felt that many Marathi artistes and technical people are not aware of the importance and benefits through online promotion. “ Today when Englsih and Hindi film makers are making maximum use of internet for the promotion of their films, its high time that our Marathi film makers realize the importance of this media. Online promotion does not limit to hosting a website of the film or opening a page on social networking sites; but it is all about reaching out to maximum people by engaging them with the film. Music release of new Marathi film ‘Sambha’

We have witnessed the influence of South films on Bollywood and have also seen the success attained by such movies. Now, Devendra Chougule has tried to follow the same formula in his forthcoming Marathi film ‘Sambha – Aaajcha Chhava’. The actor- film maker released the music of his film at Kohinoor Hotel, Prabhadevi, when the first look of his film was also released. Present on the occasion were Mahesh Manjrekar (who released the music CD) along with main stars of the film Devendra, Deepali Sayed, Tejashree Khele and music director Shashank Powar.
The film has all the commercial requirements in its screenplay with action packed fight scenes and songs on the lines of south films. Shashank Pawar’s south style music is a something new to Marathi cinema. In fact, the choreographer of this film is Kaladharan, who works with South superstar Nagarjuna. All the stunt scenes have been picturised under the supervision of Anand Raj, who has worked as action director for films like ‘Vrundavan’ and ‘Boss. According to Devendra Chougule, the film has been shot at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, where he has used latest technology including VFX.
Speaking on the occasion, Devendra Chougule, admitted that he was influenced by South films, because he felt that such commercial formula works better these days. “When you see South based films becoming popular in district places of Maharashtra, why not make a film in Marathi to attract such people? He questioned. Deepali Sayyed was all excited for playing the role of a Journalist in this film. The other girl Tejashree plays the girl friend of the hero. She has already worked in 38 south films and speaks Tamil fluently, being Maharashtrian and born and brought up in Mumbai.
Produced under the banner of Shiv films, the other artistes of the film are, Mohan Joshi, Milind Gunaji, Kuldeep Pawar & Madhu Kambikar. Script by Sanjay Pawar, lyrics by Vaibhav Joshi, background score by Avinash-Vishwajeet, Scene director Sanjay Todkar Editing by Satish Tambe, Art by Satish Bidkar , special effects by Ashtavinayak Media and cinematography by Girish Udale are the other credits. The film is all set to release on 24th February 2012.
‘Zee Gaurav Puraskar’ nominations declared

The most popular ‘Zee Gaurav Puraskar’ nominations were declared yesterday late evening at Hotel Westin, Goregaon. Popular artistes from Marathi entertainment industry were present on this occasion. Prominent among them were Jabbar Patel, Prof. Kamlakar Sontakke, Subodh Bhave, N. Chandra, Priya Bapat with Umesh Kamat, Nirmiti Sawant, Manasi Salvi, Vinay Apte, Santosh Juvekar, Atul Todankar, Rajan Tamhane, Vijay Patkar, Bhargavi Chirmule, Chinmay Mandlekar, Sanjay Mone, Vivek Lagu, Tushar Dalvi, Swapnil Bandodkar, Abhijit Gholap, Prasad Oak, Rahul Ranade, Kshiti Jog, Sagar Talashikar, Kishori Ambiye, Jaywant Wad, Abhijit Khandkekar, Milind Phatak, Shilpa Navalkar, Shreerang Deshmukh, Avadhoot Gupte, Suresh Khare, Seema Deshmukh, Ila Bhate besides many newcomers. But, many nominees and other big names were missing. Sachin Pilgaonkar, Aadesh Bandekar, and Mahesh Manjrekar arrived after the announcement of the nominations, which were delayed 90 minutes behind scheduled time.
Nominations in the Marathi Drama and Movies section were announced by Anand Ingale. As the dress code prescribed was Enigmatic Black, most of the artistes and invitees obliged. The nominations in the Drama section were separately announced for the Experimental and Professional category. ‘Jihad’, ‘Sangeet Kone Eke Kaali’, Shishirutuchya Punaragame’, ‘Chafa’ and ‘Khun Karaychay’ figured in the Experimental plays category, while ‘Saavdhaan Shubhamangal’ , ‘Sukhanshi Bhandato Aamhi’, ‘Hey Majhe Navhe’, ‘Aadhi Basu Mag Bolu’ & ‘Lagnabambaal’ appeared in the nominations list in the professional plays category.
The other nominations in the Drama category comprised of Best actor/ actress, best director, best lighting, best Writer, best Dress design and best production design in both professional as well as experimental category. In the movies section, there were many categories like Best film, best director, best actor/ actress, best supporting actor/ actress, Best Comedy performance, best editing, best cinematography, best Art, best choreography, best sound, best dress design, best make-up, best lyrics, best music , best playback singer- male/female, best child artiste, best story, best screenplay and the best dialogues. Since, announcement of this list was too long, there were no entertainment programme, except for dance floor to celebrate the occasion.
Trupti Bhoir, Manasi Salvi, Sonali kulkarni, Urmila Kanetkar & Tejaswini Lonari found their names in the nominations for best actress category while Mangesh Desai, Girish Kulkarni, Sachin Khedekar, Chinmay Mandlekar and Subodh Bhave were nominated in the best actor category. The nominations for best film of the year 2011 were ‘Taryanche Bait’, ‘Shala’, ‘Fakta ladh Mhana’, ‘Sadrakshanaay’ and ‘Balgandharva’. Now, all eyes on the declaration of winners on 25th February 2012.
Varsha Bhave presents melodious ‘Rangayatra’

Known for her organization- ‘Kalangan’ that provides children with a platform to display and enjoy their creative talents, Varsha Bhave had organized a unique programme ‘Rangayatra’ on 6th evening at SwatantryaVeer Savarkar Auditorium, Shivaji park.The programme was to celebrate Kalangan Jallosh 2012 by offering an opportunity to all her students, who have excelled in the classical vocal music. The programme also gave them scope to act, deliver dialogues and sing classical songs, while enacting the scenes of all popular classical Marathi dramas of yesteryears.
Right from the age of 4 and above, children dressed up in traditional costumes suited for the different period acts, rendered their best and received a loud applause from the encouraging elite audience present in the capacity packed auditorium. Scenes from the play ‘Sharada’ received overwhelming response with a ‘Once More’ request and the enthusiastic little girls obliged. Classical songs from the old hit plays ‘Matsyagandha’ and ‘Shatajanma Shodhitana’ also received a good response. Varsha Bhave herself an exponent of classical music in the company of Chaitanya Kulkarni presented some memorable songs. Highlight of the programme was that a hundred year old musical organ of Master Krishnarao was used by Kamlesh Bhadkamkar to provide the background music.
‘Rangayatra’ was conceived , written and directed by Varsha Bhave and coordinated by Sagar Sathe. Poorvi Bhave and Aditya Surte anchored the show and Seema Deshmukh proposed vote of thanks. Prominent personalities from Marathi entertainment industry and Social field like Ashok Patki, Suresh Khare, Ms. Fayyaaz, Ms. Kiran Chitre, Vikram Savarkar, Arwind Pilgaonkar and many others were present on the occasion and were felicitated by the Convener of the programme Varsha Bhave. While speaking to Marathi Movie world exclusively after the programme, Varsha Bhave stated that she was happy to train all those children in dance, vocal instrumental music besides making them act for scenes from the old classical marathi dramas. “You will not believe that majority of them are from English medium schools. Thanks to their parents for encouraging them to learn and improvise in their mother tongue through this training programme,” she said.
Varsha Bhave has been regularly conducting training workshops in this field through her organization ‘Kalangan’ at Swatantyaveer Sawarkar Smarak Trust, Shivaji Park and has been receiving a good response. Recently, one of her disciple has opened a branch in Thane. Varsha behave is all set to popularize this concept worldwide and is looking forward to support from Maharashtrian parents to encourage their children to take up this rich creative art to keep our Maharashtrian tradition alive. Salil Kulkarni to present ‘Madhali Sutti’ on Zee Marathi

‘Madhali Sutti’ is a show designed by Zee Marathi to touch the hearts of everyone who once went to school – teenagers, youngsters, the elderly as they travel down the memory lane. Participants in this show will be children from 3rd- 7th grade engaged in heartwarming and hilarious conversation with their favorite host Saleel Kulkarni.
In this programme, Saleel Kulkarni will sing some melodious numbers with the children in their favorite setting…playground, school, canteen, etc. He will engage in a conversation with the kids as they open up and share some amusing stories about their family or mimic someone or talk about their favorite or disliked things. And the time chosen for the same will be the ‘Madhali Sutti’ – the so called major break in the school.
This programme will begin from 10th February ‘2012 for one hour Every Friday from 21:30 – 22:30
