‘Chandi’ launched in a style

Based on P.L. Deshpande’s famous story ‘Mhais’ , Ptrabhakar Films are making a Marathi film titled ‘Chandi’. The film was launched in a style recently, with a Muhurat performed in front of P.L. Deshpande’s statue housed in the campus of Ravindra Natya Mandir, Prabhadevi. Popular Marathi comedian along with 67 children from the Balakashram prayed for the success of the film in a traditional manner.
Present on the occasion were P.L. Deshpande’s close associates Shraddhanand Thakur, Jayant Deshpande, Pushkar Wagh, who runs the Sirur Balakashram, Kiran Shataram, Ramesh Deo, Producer Dnyaneshwar Govekar, Sanjeev Naik, Cameraman Sameer Athlye, Writer Anil Pawar, director Sameer Naik and the relatives of P.L. Deshpande.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Dnyaneshwar Govekar, the producer of this film said that the film was a tribute to late P.L.Deshpande. The director of this film has rich experience of assisting reputed Bollywood directors like Ramesh Sippy, Aziz Mirza and Rohan Sippy, while writer Anil Pawar has penned more than 25 scripts so far. The film’s cast comprises of a team of 50 veteran and new artistes from Marathi film industry. The shooting of this film begins shortly in Goa.
Mrunal Kulkarni to direct a Marathi film.

Whether it was performing in a TV serial or a Marathi film, Mrunal Kulkarni has always been at ease playing different roles effectively for the past several years. She has bagged many popular awards as best actress. But, now this versatile actress will turn a director.
Mrunal is all set to direct a Marathi film ‘Prem Mhanje Prem Asata’, which will define ‘Love’. She has herself penned the story of this film, which is based on the changing style of marriages. The screenplay and dialogues are written by Manish Rokade. Mrunal is very excited about this project, as she will hold the keys of direction after so many years. Last time she directed a play was during her college days.
At present, the selection process of artistes is going on and after finalizing the same, the shooting of this new film will begin.
‘Jana Gana Mana’ ready for World release

Exactly 100 years ago Ravindranath Tagore penned ‘Jana Gana Mana’ and 61 years ago it received recognition as national anthem. To celebrate this occasion writer Mandar Namjoshi wrote a script and it saw the cinematic form through the Marathi film ‘Jana Gana Mana’, which is being released on 27th January 2012. The film talks about a committed teacher from a remote place and a student- exactly opposite his nature, studying in his school.
The highlight of this film is that it will be released in digital format and can be viewed by film lovers in theatres in Maharashtra as well as on the laptops and mobile phones anywhere in the world. It is for the first time that a regional film is being released in such a format. The film which stars Nandu Madhav, Madhura Velankar, Santosh Juvekar, Sandeep Mehta and Uday Sabnis is directed by Amit Abhyankar.
To convert the film intro digital format, the director has taken help from a software company Geodesic Ltd; who have also helped them to release the film online through Mundu TV using their applications. But, to view the film in this format on laptop, Computer and Smartphones, the viewer will have to spend US $ 2.99. The film was selected for competition among seven best films, prior to its release in Pune International film festival.
Ravi Jadhav focuses his attention on ‘BP’

Ravi Jadhav, the ad man turned film maker has already proved his class through films like ‘Natarang’ and ‘Balgandharva’. Now, he has focused his attention on a new project titles ‘BP’, which is the name of his new Marathi film. The muhurat of this film took place in thane recently. Present on the occasion were child artistes of the film, besides the technical team & cameraman- Mahesh Limaye.
The film is being produced by Uttung Hitendra Thakur & Meghana Jadhav. The theme of ‘BP’ is based on a Marathi play with the same name, written by Amber Hadap and Ganesh Pandit. Mr. Ravi Jadhav using his expertise as a director, will give a cinematic look to this play. The story of this film is all about adolescent problems faced by children during this period of transition. It will also advice parents how to deal with their children during this period in their children’s life.
The child artistes of the film are Madan Deodhar, Shaswati Pimplekar, Bhagyashee Shankpal, Prathamesh Parab and Rohit Phalke. The senior team comprises of Subodh Bhave, Saie tamhankar, Kishore kadam, Anand Ingale, Vishakha Subhedar & Avinash Narkar. Highlight of this film is that Bollywood duo Vishal Shekhar are making their debut as Music directors in Marathi films, through this film. According to the makers, the film is likely to be released around May 2012.
‘Karuna Shiv Shankara’ Music launched

Music launch of the film ‘Karuna Shiv Shankara’ took place in a Mumbai hotel recently, in presence of entire star cast of the film. The Event was Hosted and Compared by Satyajit Padhye Son of Ramdas Padhye (Famous puppetry). On this occasion, Kimaya Motion Pictures Launched their Company Calendar with Pranali Londhe as the Model.
There are four songs in this film penned by Sanjay Navgare & Avinash Godke on the music of Baban Ashok & Ameya Naik. Produced by Dr. Monish Babre and directed by C.Vishal, the film’s star cast comprises of Vijay Chauhan, Nisha Parulekar, Deepjyoti Naik, Varad Chuhan, Yugg, Pranali Londhe, Vijay Kadam, Umesh Bolke, Prashant Neuman & Kiran Phise.
Sulochana didi conferred with Saraswati Phalke Stree Puraskar

Dadasaheb Phalke film Festival in which 67 films took part, concluded with felicitation function with awards presented in different categories. For the first time a new award instituted in the name of Saraswati Phalke was presented to the grand old lady of Marathi Cinema- Sulochanadidi. The award was presented to her by Dadasaheb Phalke’s grandson Shri. Chandrashekhar Pusalkar.

‘Shala’ is the most eagerly awaited film

In the recently held Popular awards of Marathimovieworld.com forthcoming Marathi film ‘Shala’ bagged the special award for much awaited film of 2012. On the very next day there was a pres conference held by Mahesh Manjrekar’s The Great Maratha Entertainment, who are presenting this film. Film maker Sujay Dahake, who has worked very hard in making this film on teenage school life and their first attraction towards opposite sex. Based on the popular novel ‘Shala’ written by Milind Bokil, the director has tried to present the parent-child, Teacher-student and Parent-teacher relationship in an effective manner, as seen in the promos shown on the occasion of screening the first look of this film.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sanjay Dahake suggested that his film was on the backdrop of Emergency period of 1975-76 and has tried to show, how the developments affected the people in small towns of Maharashtra. The film has been shot at Vaai, off Pune-Satara road and Panhala. Mr. Mahesh Manjrekar who also spoke on the occasion felt that the story of the film was appealing. “All of us have gone through this stage of teenage and are carrying fond memories of that time with us,” he added. While answering to a question , as to why there were two-three Marathi films released on the same day and sometimes there are none; he was very critical about the rising number of marathi films without any content.
“For this film, we have a very different kind of campaign and instead of showing the usual song and dance sequence in the short promo, we have decided to present the views expressed by different people about this film,” he added. Mr. Sujay Dahake was very happy that his film had won the award for much awaited film and thanked the viewers of marathimovieworld.com. He said that since he had opened a page of ‘Shala’ on facebook, it could create awareness among net savvy people. Sanjay has engaged foreigners like Diego Romery and Christopher Harvey to handle the photography and sound recording.

Zee Marathi’ s ‘Idea Sa re Ga Ma pa’ from 18th Jan

Zee Marathi’s reality show ‘Idea Sa re Ga Ma Pa’ in this 2012 season present singing talent with the biggest names from Marathi films, theatre and television vying to be crowned the ultimate ‘Singer. There will be some celebrities who will be Singing on Marathi television for the very first time. They are : actors Mohan Joshi, Prashant Damale, Kishori Shahane Viz, Amruta Subhash, Kranti Redkar, Vaibhav Mangale, Satish Tare, Abhijeet Kelkar, Girija Oak and Dipti Bhagwat. With this interesting combination of film and theatre artistes participating in Zee Marathi’s 11th rocking season of Idea Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, anchor Abhijeet Khandkekar will present the show.
‘Idea Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ will see the contestants giving their best performances besides suffering heartbreaking eliminations every Wednesday and Thursday. With this reality show, viewers will get a chance to see a new side of their personalities in the most intense competition in next few weeks.
Each contestant will represent as an individual and not a part of any team. To judge the show, Zee Marathi has roped in Avdhoot Gupte. Co-judging the show with him will be actress Vandana Gupte.
“Idea Sa re Ga Ma Pa” begins on Zee Marathi every Wednesday and Thursday from 18th January 2012 at 9:30 pm.
Rajan Bhise and Ashish Kulkarni to join ‘Mala Sasu Havi’

After the sad demise of two of their team members, Marathi serial ‘Mala Sasu Havi’ had continued with some of the episodes already shot on these two artistes till date. But now, it was time to induct new artistes into their characters, to keep the show going on. Zee Marathi have made the announcement to this effect, through a press note, stating that Mr. Rajan Bhise and Ashish Kulkarni will play the roles of Anand Abhyankar and Akshay Pendse respectively.
Both these new additions will make their first appearance as Aaba and Vighnesh, from saturday 5th January onwards.It all remains to be seen, how the co stars and viewers would adjust with them.
Music icon Anil Mohile is no more
Popular Music composer & arranger Anil Mohile is no more. He passed away at his Mumbai residence, in the early hours of morning today, after suffering a severe heart attack. He was 71. He is survived by his wife, daughter and son Amar, who is also a Music composer.
Anil Mohile was a popular personality for more than four decades both in Marathi as well as Hindi film industry, having been part of more than 100 films, as a music composer, arranger or assistant. He has given many hit songs both in Marathi as well as Hindi. ‘Shubhamangal Savadhan'( 2006) was the last Marathi film, for which he composed music. His work in Bollywood as a Music arranger was well received in films like ‘Sagina’ ( 1974), ‘Don'( 1978), ‘Sharabi'( 1984) , ‘Ilzaam'( 1986), ‘Ek Pal’ ( 1986), ‘Rudali ( 1993) and ‘Gajagamini'( 2000).
