Watch Zee Marathi Awards on 31st Oct.

Just like every year, this year too, Zee Marathi Awards – a viewer’s choice television awards 2010 will be telecast on 31st October 2010 at 7.30 pm on Zee Marathi channel. This year, the event had much more than the usual award function, with many unique and exclusive features. Zee Marathi Awards 2010 took place recently at Saint Andrews Auditorium, Bandra. Sunil Barve, an experienced actor from Marathi Entertainment, was the host for the night.

The Awards were mainly dominated by 2 Popular Serials of Zee Marathi wiz, ‘Majhiya Priyala Preet Kalena and ‘Kunku. ‘Majhiya …’ won awards like Best Actor, Best Family , Best Onscreen Pair while ‘Kunku’ won the Best Actress and most popular – Best Serial award.

Besides the awards, there were many added attractions in the form of variety entertainment during the show. Don’t miss your date with Zee Marathi on 31st evening.

One day match begins with Vacation

Marathi films are now days attempting new experiments to catch the attention of the audience. One such experiment has been tried through a new Marathi film titled ‘Dho Dho Paavsatli One day Match’ ( D2PODM). Produced under the banner of Cutting Chai Productions, this film is presented by Vinayak Karanjkar and directed by young Nitin Kamble. Abhijeet Sawant is the co-producer of the film. DDPODM is being released on 29th October 2010 in Mumbai, Pune and Nashik .

Two strangers from different age group and segment of the society come across each other on one deadly night when it’s raining heavily. They share their experiences on the backdrop of one day match commentary going on the radio. Suhas Palshikar and Shekhar Phadke play the two central characters in this film. Other important artistes in the cast are Vijay Chavan, Priyanka Yadav, Ravindra Berde, Dr. Vilas Ujavane, Shubahngi Latkar, kamlesh Sawant, Madhavi Juvekar, Pradeep Patwardhan and others.

Film’s story, screenplay dialogues and lyrics are penned by Swapnil and Janmejay, while music is composed by Rajesh Sawant. Cinematography by Aniket K and art direction by Anil Vaath are other credits.

Another experiment has been tried by Neha Prashant Gokhale, who is releasing her new Marathi film aptly titled ‘Vacation’ also on 29th October 2010. Banking on the topic of friendship, the film which narrates a simple but sensible tale on this subject, is directed by Deepak Sadashiv Tarkar. The film has tried to unfold several issues in the lives of four youngsters related to fun and thrill. The story of the film revolves around four characters namely- Jai, Chitra, Neha and Yamini.

Through this film four new faces are being introduced. They are Vikas Patil, Gauri Sahasrabuddhe, Kirti Mehendale, Neesha Shah. Others in important roles are Satish Pulekar, Anand Abhyankar, Shrikant Desai, K. Vrushali, Ashwini Ekbote, Vighnesh Joshi, Gajanan Gokhale, Bharat ganeshpure, Jyoti Joshi, Sujata deshmukh, Pallavi Patil and Surekha Upadhye. Smita Tambe and Santosh Juvekar make guest appearances.

The script of ‘Vacation’ has been written by Neha- Deepak while Kamlesh Bhadkamkar has composed the music.

Zee Talkies coming in a new avtaar

Zee talkies TV channel which bee entertaining the Marathi cinema viewers non stop 24 hours for the past 3 years, will now be entering its fourth year of entertainment. We are all ware of this channel’s success story, which did not limit to telecast of old and new Marathi films but also made their entry as producers of Marathi films. This enabled Marathi cinema to not only find a financer to meet the rising budget of the films but also reach out to maximum viewers with the help of heavy promotion.

Now, in their fourth year, Zee Talkies is planning to have a new look. So, wait for this change to take place in just few days time.

‘Mee Sharuk Manjarsumbhekar’ soon on Marathi stage

Film maker Mahesh Manjrekar is all set to use his lucky mascot Siddharth Jadhav on Marathi stage. He will soon launch Siddharth Jadhav as Sharuk Manjarasumbhekar in his forthcoming Marathi play ‘Mee Sharuk Manajarsumbhekar’. The play is based on the dreams and aspirations of thousands of youngsters who come to Mumbai daily, but hardly a handful of them achieve success.

The play will send across a message to the viewers, how hard it is for those who come to fulfill their dreams here. These days to live in this city itself is a big challenge and to overcome the hurdles of daily travel is another adventure. At present, the rehearsals of this play are in full swing and the play is about to be launched soon.

‘Agadbam’ awaiting for Guinness book approval

After doing a good business in Maharashtra, Trupti Bhoir’s ‘Agadbam’ which is running in the third week run now, is expecting a big news. The experts from Guinness Book of records will be visiting India soon, to verify the facts about the longest period of make up held by actress Trupti Bhoir during the making of this film.

The film prior to its release had emphasized more on the hard work put in by Trupti for preparing herself in the character of Nazuka who weighed 250 kgs, almost 4 times that of her normal weight. Trupti who worked on the sets of this film for 26 hours continuously to shoot a particular dance sequence had taken that required risk of being in prosthetic make up for the longest duration. Accordingly, she had even applied to Guinness Book of records to register her creation.

Now, after the experts deputed by Guinness Book of records verify the facts during their forthcoming visit, Marathi films will get an international recognition with this rare achievement. Incidentally, it will also be the first Indian film to record this success.

‘Kas’ set for an early release

‘Kas’ which means ‘Test’ in the context of crisis in human life, is the name of the new Marathi film, which is due for release shortly. The film revolves around an educated sensible woman Arundhati Modak, is undergoing a real test in the time of crisis in her life. In the process along with her even her husband, sister-in-law, sister and a friend are made to suffer. But, each one of them select their own way to face the situation.

Director duo Mahesh Satoskar and Aruna Joglekar, who have given in the past two sensible films like ‘Mahananda’ and ‘Nivdung’ have presented this film too in such a way that it is likely to create that desired impact on the audience, like their previous films did. ‘Kas’ has the music by Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar on the lyrics of Aarti Prabhu and Sudhir Moghe. Prominent singers like Asha Bhosale, Swapnil Bandodkar have rendered their voices for songs, while Radha mangeshkar makes her debut as a singer through this film.

Popular Marathi Television actress Bhargavi Chirmule makes her big screen debut through this film while playing the central character of Arundhati in this film. The other star cast of the film comprises of Prasad Oak, Rajesh Shringarpure, Neelam Shirke, Madhav Abhyankar, Vidya Patwardhan, Anand Abhyankar. Late Chittaranjan kolhatkar will also be seen in this film. The film is due for release on 22nd October 2010.

3 Marathi artistes nominated for APS awards

Marathi films have received recognition not only at the national level but also at the international level. Now, the good news is that for the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, 5 Indian films have been nominated in different categories; out of which three are for Marathi films. Atul Kulkarni has been nominated in Best actor’s category for film ‘Natarang’, Tejaswini Pandit has been nominated in best actress category for her film Mee Sindhutai Sapkal (which is yet to be released) and Sudhir Palsane finds his nomination in Best Cinematography category for the film Vihir.

The awards ceremony will be held on 2nd December 2010 at Gold Coast in Australia . The awards are being given since 2007 with the initiative of Queensland Government and with the joint efforts of CNA International UNESCO and International Federation of Film Producers Association. The host have taken into account the films from 70 countries.

Madhav Abhyankar to return with ‘Ghashiram Kotwal’

After six years of break, popular Marathi drama ‘Ghashiram Kotwal’ is returning to stage in a few days time. Mr. Madhav Abhyankar was all excited about the revival of this sensational Marathi drama, which took place in Pune on his birthday. While speaking to Marathi Movieworld, the versatile actor said that the muhurtha of this play in Pune was attended by distinguished guests .

It may be recalled that prior to his entry into television and Cinema, Mr. Abhyankar was known for his performance as Nana Phadavnis in ‘Ghashiram Kotwal’. Recently, his film Second Inning won the best film award at an international festival in England. Madhav Abhyankar had played an amazing lead role of a retired judge in this film. However, his love for stage continues and the grand revival of this play is the best example of his commitment to theatre. Madhav is already seen in ongoing TV serial ‘Maaylek’ on television. His forthcoming films are ‘Kas’ and Mani Mangalsutra.

 

Big ‘B’ launches music of ‘Mee Sindhutai Sapkal’

The music launch of producer Sachin Khanolkar’s film ‘Mee Sindhutai Sakpal was graced by the presence of superstar Amitabh Bachchan, who released the music CD’s in presence of a huge audience at the Novotel Hotel, Juhu on Tuesday, 12 Oct 2010.

The entire cast of the film comprising of Tejaswini Pandit who plays Ms.Sapkal, Jyoti Chandekar, Suhas Palshikar, Upendra Limaye, Neena Kulkarni, Ganesh Yadav, Charusheela Sable Vachchani were present and director Anant Mahadevan introduced the film and the cast. The music composer Ashok Patki and lyricist Pravin Davne were also present.

Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, who was present for a short time said, “It’s a great honour for me to release the music of a film based on a lady, who has adopted so many needy children and given them roof , clothing and education to make these children pillars of society today; like doctors, MBA’S, etc. and I am sure a director of the caliber of Anant Mahadevan could only do justice to a bio-pic of this stature”. Among the other celebrities present wereSulochanadidi, Kiran Shantaram, cricketer Paras Mhambrey, director Rajeev Patil, cinematographer Sanjay Jadhav, actor Maithili Javkar, Atul Parchure, Arun Kadam, veteran director Vikas Desai, distributors Shyam Shroff and Nanubhai and others. Ms. Sindhutai Sapkal herself was present in person and regaled the audience with her ‘sher-o-shairi’ and certain touching moments of her life. The film is set for an early release.

7 Marathi films find place at prestigious Film festivals

The end of October will witness two important international film festivals in Mumbai, during which period at least seven Marathi films will find their place . Mumbai Academy of Moving Images (MAMI) which is being held between October 21 to October 28, will show 4 Marathi films namely Shekhar Sartandel’s ‘Nirmalya’, Hitendra Upasani’s ‘Burzvagaman’ , Veena Lokur’s ‘Platform’ and Gauri Sarwate’s ‘Mani Mangalsutra’.

While ‘Nirmalya’ and ‘Buzvargaman’ will be shown in the New faces section, ‘Platform’ and ‘Mani Mangalsutra’ will be shown in Indian frame section. In the 9th ‘Third Eye’ Asian Film festivals which begins on 29th October in Mumbai, three Marathi films find their place. In fact, Anant Mahadevan’s new Marathi film, ‘Mee Sindhutai Sapkal’ which is yet to be released, finds the pride of place on the concluding day of the function on 4th November 2010. Two other Marathi films, Gajendra Ahire’s ‘Surparambya’ and Nitin Nandan’s ‘Jhing Chik jhing’ will be shown in the ‘Spectrum Asia’ section of this festival. About 110 films from different Asian countries including India will be shown during this festival. The registration of viewers for this festival begins on 15th October 2010 at Plaza Cinema, Dadar, Fun Republic, Andheri and Y. B. Chavan Centre, Opp.Mantralaya, Mumbai.
