Now, Atul Kulkarni speaks Arabic…
Do you want to learn Arabic language? Ask Atul Kulkarni. Recently, the Mr. Perfectionist Marathi actor learned Arabic language, to enable him to render some of the dialogues in this language, in his forthcoming Marathi film ‘Happy Journey’. “La alaime gidar kala malhain an alhain shai majhul ” (No, I am busy right now), and “Aana erja savi telephone ant. Bah salaam” (I will call you, once I am back) are some of the lines he spoke in Arabic on the sets of this film.
Atul is portraying a businessman called Niranjan, who is back from Dubai after spending years in business over there. Niranjan, well versed in Arabic, is in constant touch with his business fraternity and friends there and converses with his Dubai pals in the language over phone. These scenes of Atul talking in fluent Arabic have been shot for ‘Happy Journey’.
Speaking about his encounter with the language during the shooting, the National Award Winner star said, “I spent hours in learning the language as I wanted perfect diction and scene coming live, and for this purpose took help of Shamim Sayyed, an Arabic language expert.
“Whenever I got time, I listened to the dialogue and rehearsed for the scene. The dialogue has about 10 to 12 sentences in Arabic language. The mannerisms of the language, accurate diction, style of talking the language, were the factors I focused on. Sayyedji helped me a lot in this effort,” Atul added.
The film is produced by Everest Entertainment led by Sanjay Chhabria. The film, directed by Sachin Kundalkar, has noted Marathi actress Priya Bapat and Pallavi Subhash in lead roles. Many youngsters from various fields of technology are associated with the film. It has helped the production in getting a fresh look to the film. State-of-the-art production design, music and costume designs are set to be unique features of the film. This has created a buzz about the film, not only in the industry but among the cine-goers too. The film is set to release in next few months.
