“I am confident about my creation”- Sanju Hinge

Press Conference

Films are made to entertain people as well as to keep them engaged from start to finish; be it a comedy, suspense thriller or action filled romantic format. Creativity is the key, for success of such films. Some of the recent Marathi films made by ad film makers, is the best example. Suhas Hinge, with his 25 years experience in ad world, is making his debut as a director through his forthcoming film ‘Ashach Eka Betavar’, based on Agatha Christie’s novel ‘Then there were None’. Produced by Ms.Leena Bala Nandgaonkar alongwith Javed Pathan & Diwakar Sawant; under the banner of Srushti Films, it is a suspense filled murder mystery.
Marathi Movie World met Sanju Hinge, during the first look of the film in Mumbai on Tuesday evening. It was an occasion for Sanju Hinge to face the media, where he was hammered with questions about the film’s similarity with the early 60s Bollywood film ‘Gumnam’. But, the cool and composed creative film maker, clarified that the screenplay of this film was written by Sanjay Pawar and Chintan Mokashi, with the backdrop of Mumbai, from where nine different people from cross section of the society assemble at one place, in a bungalow on an island off Mumbai. “A couple of films have been made on the original novel in Hollywood and Bollywood; but how one gives a treatment to the script, is all that important,” said Sanju Hinge.
While speaking to Marathi Movie world in an exclusive, Sanju was more vocal on his treatment to the script. Is anyone aware of the original drama based on the novel ? he questioned. “There was a drama ‘Ten little Indians’ also based on this novel, which was more appealing. So, don’t compare my characters with any other film. It is the treatment to the screenplay, which will make all the difference. And, I am confident about my creation,” he added.

Sanju has been close to Bala Nandgaonkar, whose wife is the producer of this film and hence his choice to direct this film was obvious. When he discussed the idea of making a film on this subject, Leena immediately agreed and then they started finalising the cast, which was equally important.
While speaking on the occasion, Asha Nadgaonkar w/o late Nilkanth Nadgaonkar and sister-in-law of Leena Nandgaionkar, said that it was always the wish of her late husband that Leena should enter into film making, looking at her past involvement into acting field. Accordingly, he spoke to his brother Bala Nandgaonkar, who offered morale support to his wife and we began work on it. But, Nilkanthji passed away during the making of this film. But, I am glad that today Leena has fulfilled his dream, with the completion of this film. Producer Leena Nandgaonkar, thereafter announced that the film was dedicated to her brother in law late Nilkanth Nandgaonkar.
Out of the nine main artistes from this film, only Ankush Choudhary and Sanjay Narvekar were present. Lyricist and Music director Milind Joshi was also present on the occasion. Yatin karyekar arrived almost after the end of the function. When asked by the media representatives, as to why only two artistes were present, Mr. Sanjay Narvekar intervened and created humour, stating that those who were free, could only make it; others were busy with their work. The film is a multi starrer with the presence of many renowned actors like Madhura Velankar, Sai Tamhankar, Sharad Ponkshe, Sanjay Mone, Mangesh Desai, kamlesh Sawant & Poonam Jadhav, besides the above mentioned two heroes.

Sai Tamhankar, who is now days seen as the bold and glamorous Marathi actress, is playing the role of a Bar dancer – Shabana in this film. In the film, she is the only artiste who speaks in Hindi. The film has been shot at natural location off Alibaug in kashid, where the beach is full of white sand. So, over to kashid, from 8th February 2013.
