For the past few years we have been watching some story oriented Marathi films which have thrown light on realities noticed in our society. Latest released Marathi film ‘Chumbak‘ is one more addition to such thought provoking films. The film presents a sensible tale of a teenager Bhalchandra alias Baalu(Sahil Jadhav) trapped between aspirations and morals and the story of ‘Chumbak‘ film reveals how he makes his choice between the two to shape his life.

Baalu who works hard as a cleaner in a hotel in Mumbai, dreams of escaping this routine life to start a small little business of sugarcane juice stall of his own, in his own village. With the help of his street smart friend Dhananjay aka Disco ( Sangram Desai) he first puts his small saving into a double money making scheme with an investor. And when the investor cheats all , his friend suggests him another plan on the lines of the infamous ‘Nigerian SMS Scam‘ using a prepaid sim card. Baalu sends several text messages randomly, no one but one man falls for it. He happens to be a simple poor mentally slow villager Prasanna( Swanand Kirkire) who travels all the way to Mumbai to meet Baalu, who poses himself as a representative of a leading financial institution offering Lottery prize of Rs. 1 Crore.

How poor Prasanna falls into the trap of Baalu and Disco and how Baloo tries to be sympathetic towards him, yet moves toward his ultimate goal, is presented very systematically through an interesting screenplay by director Sandeep Modi. ‘Chumbak‘ almost goes on the lines of World Cinema, with good support coming from superb cinematography by Rangarajan Ramabadran, good editing work by Chandrashekhar Prajapati and suitable music by Saket Kanetkar going well with the script. But, above all the performances by the lead artistes is the plus point of this film. Besides the two youngsters Sahil Jadhav and Sangram Desai, the actor who has impressed the most is Swanand Kirkire. Certainly a worth watch film. Thanks to Akshay Kumar for presenting this sensible film.

Popular Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar who is presenting forthcoming much talked about Marathi film ‘Chumbak‘ had himself released the trailer of the film generating curiosity among Marathi film lovers. Now, with the release of music of this film has also been receiving good response. Renowned Marathi actress Vibhavari Deshpande is making her debut as a lyricist through this film, having written the title song of this film, which has been composed by Amar Mangrulkar .

Amar Mangrurkar also recorded this song in the voice of Bollywood singer Divya Kumar .And, with this preparation ‘Chumbak‘ is now all set for release on 27^th July 2018. Starring well known lyricist Swanand Kirkire in the lead role, the film also stars Sangram Desai from Kolhapur and Sahil jadhav from Pune in equally important roles. Produced by Naren Kumar this film is directed by sandeep Modi.

We are all aware that Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar will be presenting Marathi film ‘Chumbak’ which is directed by Sandeep Modi. Recently, he released the trailer of this film at a grand function at PVR Cinemas Juhu. Official announcement has also been made about the film’s release on 27th July 2018. Besides Akshay Kumar, also present on the occasion were lyricist turned actor Swanand Kirkire along with artistes Sangram Desai, Sahil Jadhav, writer Saurabh Bhave , producers NarenKumar and National award winning director Sandeep Modi.

Speaking on this occasion Akshay Kumar said that this film speaks about what one should opt in the life. “First you make your choice and then that choice helps you settle down in your life.” After watching this film, Akshay feels that his decision of presenting this film is most appropriate. Swanand Kirkire, who is playing the most important character of Prasanna Thombre in this film, said that playing this role was not only a big challenge, but it also offered him an experience of learning new things. “My life has changed after playing this role.” he concluded. Director Sandeep Modi seemed to be extremely satisfied with the performance given by Swanand Kirkire and was all praise for him.

Actor Swanand Kirkire in Marathi Movie 'Chumbak' — Actor Swanand Kirkire in Marathi Movie ‘Chumbak’

Well Known lyricist of Marathi and Hindi films, Swanand Kirkire has found his place on the first poster of forthcoming Marathi film ‘Chumbak’ presented by popular Bollywood personality Akshay Kumar. Surprisingly, Swanand is playing the lead role in this film and this is also his debut in acting. Swanand plays the character of Prasanna who suffers from Dyslexia and lives in a small village in Solapur. In the recently held New York Film Festival of Indian films, Swanand Kirkire had received nomination in best actor’s category, which itself is a big achievement for him.

About his selection in this film, director Sandeep Modi says that the name of Swanand Kirkire was suggested to him by the writer of this film Saurabh Bhave and producer Naren Kumar, who felt that Swanand’s face displays that innocence of a child. Speaking about his role, Swanand says, “When this team approached me, I thought it must be for the purpose of music, but when they told me their intention, I was shocked. But, after listening to the script and respecting their confidence in my selection, I decided to do this film.” Alongwith Swanand Kirkire another actor playing important role is Sangram Desai from Kolhapur. ‘Chumbak’ will release all over Maharashtra on 27th July 2018.
