Renowned actor of Marathi and Hindi films Riteish Deshmukh has presented a grandeur in association with Jio Studios in the form of ‘Raja Shivaji’ a historical epic on the life of Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj – the great Maratha King. After his debut as a director through successful Marathi film ‘Ved’, this is his second directorial project. And, he has done his job reasonably well, as an actor and director.

In this biopic on the greatest Maratha King, Riteish covers the life of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj since his birth upto 1659, till he eliminates the cruel ruler Afzal Khan, who was a general of the Adil Shahi dynasty of Bijapur Sultanate . Riteish who plays the role of Shivaji Maharaj, has cleverly selected Sanjay Dutt to play the main villain through the character of cruel Afzal Khan. And Sanjay Dutt has lived up to his expectations, with his notable performance.  His wife Genelia plays the role of his screen wife Saibai in this film and the most important role of his mother Jijabai is played by former renowned actress Bhagyashree. Both of them have played their respective emotion filled scenes very well, in this action filled historic film. Riteish has also used his sons Rahyl and Riaan effectively to play the roles of Little and younger Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in this film. And both of them seem to have worked very hard to express themselves through their important thought provoking dialogues.

The planning and execution of moves by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to surprise the enemy have been skilfully shown in the screenplay of the film. The sequencing of events right from 1630 to 1659 have been unfolded cleverly, with proper editing work by Urvashi Saxena. Special effects with latest technology have been used superbly. It also gives an indication that there is a scope left for Part 2 of ‘Raja Shivaji’ in days to come. Brilliant cinematography by Santosh Sivan and suitable music by Ajay -Atul are also the plus points of this film. But, the wonderful performances by other lead artistes Abhishek Bachchan as Sambhaji Shahaji Bhosale, Vidya Balan as Khadija Sultana, Sachin Khedekar as Shahaji Bhosale, Amole Gute as Mohd. Adil Shah, Fardeen Khan as Shah Jahan , Jitendra Joshi as Pant Gopinath Bokil , Sushma Despande as Aajibai, invite special attention.

Barring the violence part during battles, without which these historical war films cannot be complete, this inspiring film is a must watch for all, for knowing the truth behind the courage of this great Maratha King, who fought against injustice to form Swarajya – which signifies freedom from external control.

‘Darav darav..’ song from the forthcoming Marathi film ‘Naal 2′ will be in the voice of ‘Saregamapa’ fame singer Jayesh Khare .This song which is pictured on little children Chaitu, Chimu and Mani is written by Vaibhav Deshmukh and music of this song is composed by A.V. Prafulchandra. Along with Jayesh Khare Master Avan has also given his voice for this song.

Film maker Nagraj Manjule has been offering scope to many newcomers through his films. And the selection of Singer Jayesh Khare was also done by him along with Prafulchandra and Sudhakar Yankati from the Saregamapa programme. After having won the appreciation and awards at the international and national film festivals, the makers of Marathi film ‘Godavri’ have released the first teaser of their much awaited film on the auspicious occasion of Dusehra. The teaser presents ups and downs in the life of Jitendra Joshi and his family and their traditions. It is still not clear as to what connection the family has with ‘Godavri’ and this still remains a mystery, till the film is released.

Presented by Jio Studios, produced by Blue Drop Films and Jitendra Joshi, this film is directed by Nikhil Mahajan and stars Jitendra Joshi, Vikram Gokhale, Neena Kulkarni, Sanjay Mone, Priyadarshan Jadhav , Gauri Nalawade in lead roles. Speaking about this film, director Nikhil Mahajan says, “ This film can be enjoyed by the entire family together. The film presents the importance of relations, their importance and introducing new relations.” The film is all set for release on 11th November 2022.

 Till now, Jio Studios have offered variety of films and web series in different Indian languages. Now, Jio Studios are very active, making their impression in Marathi entertainment industry. This year, they started off with ‘Mee Vasantrao’ a musical entertainer, which completed 100 days run in theatres. The film also received two national awards one for Rahul Deshpande( Best Playback singer) and Anmol Bhave( Best Audiograph Sound Design). The film was also praised by Critics.

Jitendra Joshi’s forthcoming film ‘Godavari’ has been in the news for inviting attention at various international film festivals. This film has also won some awards at these festivals. Jitendra himself has won Best actor Silver Peacock award at IFFI 2021.  Director Nikhil Mahajan has won the best director’s award at Pune Int. Versatile Marathi actor Jitendra Joshi is in the news. He has won Best actor’s award for the film ‘Godavari (गोदावरी)’ at the New York Indian Film Festival ( NYIFF) 2022. ‘Godavari’ is Jio Studios presented Marathi film , which is produced by Blue Drop Films and Jitendra Joshi Pictures. This film has already earned a name at different national and international film festivals , wherever it was screened.

Directed by Nikhil Mahajan, this film will now be screened among the five films at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival . Speaking about his film director Nikhil  Mahajan said, “I am glad that Jitendra was selected for the  best actor’s award  at NYIFF. This film was completed in 17 days.” The film stars Jitendra Joshi, Vikram Gokhale, Neena Kulkarni, Sanjay Mone, Priyadarshan Jadhav, Gauri Nalavade in lead roles.
