If you are parents of a youngster, who is doing very well in his studies; generally you tend to relax, but, don’t. Unless, you are aware of his friend circle and what he does in his spare time, you cannot be sure about his future. This is what the new Marathi film ‘Rege’ is all about.
Directed by Abhijit Panse, presented by Ravi Jadhav and Ashwini Darekar, ‘Rege’ is a based on the life of an innocent MBBS Student Aniruddha Rege ,who comes across bad company and unknowingly gets involved with underworld and is trapped by Crime branch encounter specialist.
The film begins with the sequence of flashback of Aniruddha Rage’s life. Aniruddha Rege (Aroh Velankar) , a 3rd year medical student, who is sincere with curious nature. And is from a well educated cultured family. His parents have lots of expectations from him and having trust in their child, give lot of freedom to him.
Aniruddha comes to Mumbai on holidays and unfortunately meets M Bhai and gang, connected to underworld, at a Dahi Handi celebration with his tapori friend Pakya. He gets impressed with them and starts spending time with them. For Ani, it is a thrill and so he innocently shows his farmhouse, which is misused by M bhai and his team and as a result gets trapped.
Here starts the tragic journey of ‘Rege’. He caught by police in Agarwal Builder Murder case. In police custody, he is tortured by the team of Pradeep Sharma (Mahesh Manjrekar) , who is crime branch officer, known as encounter specialist. His seniors take objection about his encounters and hold inquiry against him. But, he faces it boldly. At the end, with the help of Rege’s information, the police team led by Sharma and Vaze catch M Bhai and his team from Rege’s farmhouse. And, the action filled shoot out takes place at the end.
‘Rege’ is a debut film for director Abhijit Panse. It is also debut film for young Aroh Velankar , who has done a good job. His appearance and body language suits his character. Mahesh Manjrekar, Pushkar Shrotri, and Santosh Juvekar have done well through their character roles. The song ‘Dhishkyaoon’ and Ravi Jadhav presented song with all celebrities on the music of Avadhoot Gupte may popularize soon.
Overall film is okay, It is a typical average movie. Can watch once. Somehow the film gives message to young generation to stay away from bad company. Also alerts their parents to parents to keep eye on their children and spare some time with them to understand them. Otherwise, there could be another Rege in the making.
