Swapnil Joshi has an occasion to celebrate his birthday
For a long time there was no news about Swapnil Joshi’s film ‘Friends’. One doesn’t know, whether this film is also a remake of any south film. The film stars Sachit Patil along with Swapnil Joshi for the first time. ‘Friends’ starcast also includes actress Gauri Nalawade in lead actress role.

Movie Review by: Jitendra R More |
Every parting indicates a big loss; but, every reunion is a reminiscence. Based on this philosophy is ‘Classmates’, the latest offering from Aditya Sarpotdar. No matter, this film is an authorised remake of a South film, with the same name, Aditya has used his past seven years experience, to skilfully captain his team of talented performers. Set on the backdrop of a college life during 90s, the film begins with a scene 20 years later, when the classmates of 1995 batch reunite for a purpose, in their college. So, we witness the seven batch mates comprising of Satya (Ankush Chaudhari), Appu(Sai Tamhankar), Aditi (Sonalee Kulkarni), Rohit Bhosale, now a MLA (Sachit Patil), Pratap, now a Police Inspector( Sushant Shelar), Amit(Suyash Tilak), now husband of Appu and Heena ( Pallavi Patil), a Muslim woman and close friend of Aditi; attending the opening ceremony of the Music section in memory of their departed friend.
They are all welcomed by the lady principal (Kishori Shahane Viz), mother of late Ani (Siddharth Chandekar). As they are about to meet late in the evening, after the function, an unfortunate accident takes place in respect of one of their classmates. This being a biggest twist in the story, the film progresses with the investigation of the accident and at the same time, taking the viewers into flashback, to show the happenings twenty years ago, while they were in the college. So, we witness the acts of ragging, which prevailed those days, the rivalry between two groups, with the entry of politically backed youth wings, dance n music and of course the love affairs. In short, it is all in one contribution of action, saga, friendship, music and revenge.
Best thing about the film, is its well written screenplay by Sameer Vidwans and Kshitij Patwardhan and suitable dialogues by Kshitij, to meet the requirement of the realistic college lifestyle, during that period. But, above all the director Aditya Sarpotdar shows his presence through many important scenes. Watch the scene, where ace swimmer Sachit Patil folding his call letter from foreign university for admission, to support one of the tilting legs of the side table in his house.
This clearly displayed the gravity of the situation, where his father who is in deep trouble in Politics, requiring the support of his son and the son offering the same, through this act. Very cleverly, he has managed to unfold the mystery, in the screenplay. Though he gave a Marathi feel to this film, the two songs have a south Indian flavour. Even otherwise, barring two songs, the music is not very impressive. Perhaps, too many cooks couldn’t match well, with each other. But, the background score is simply fabulous. Good support comes from impressive camera work and sound design.
In the acting department, three actors have shown maturity in their acting, while portraying their respective characters. They are Ankush Choudhary , Sachit Patil and Siddharth Chandekar. All three of them stole the show, displaying diversity . The director has exploited their full potential. Among the females, Sonalee Kukarni has also shown lot of improvisation, in the role of Aditi. Sai Tamhankar suits well in the role of possessive Appu, but her performance is more dependent on the dialogues offered to her. Sushant Shelar and SuyashTilak are convincing, but Pallavi has been wasted in the role of Heena. Not much scope was given to this promising new find actress, who was picked up from the talent hunt programme of 9X Jhakas. Veterans like Kishori Shanane, Ramesh Deo and Sanajy Mone offer good support. But, the ultimate winner is Aditya Sarpotdar. He really stands tall, for his effective presentation style, in this story based and suspense filled film.

‘Asa Mee Ashi Tee’ – A Man’s fight against destiny
Rating: ★★★ ½
Studio: Shree Swami Samarth Pictures Producer: Usha Satish Salvi Director: Atul Kale Writer: Sachit Patil, Atul Kale, Ashish Raikar Dialogues: Sachin Darekar Cinematographer: Kedar Gaikwad Cast: Sachit Patil, Pallavi Subhash, Mansi Salvi, Bharat Dabholkar, Atul Kale, Anuja Sathe-Gokhale, Athasha Tendulkar, Shoma Anand, Atharva Bedekar, Sayuri Haralkar Movie Review by: Ulhas Shirke |
Faith must have acceptable evidence, else it is mere superstition. The power to fight against destiny is in our own hands, provided we are able to conquer the negative thoughts coming into our own minds. There are numerous books written on this philosophy of human life, be it revelation of the mysterious aspects of the understated science of spirituality or consciousness.
Latest Marathi film ‘Asa Mee Ashi Tee’ is based on this philosophy, which intelligently deals with a Man’s fight against destiny. Produced by Usha Satish Salvi and directed by Atul kale, the film’s script written by actor Sachit Patil has been developed by him in cinematic form, with the help of director Atul kale and Ashish Raikar. Supported by suitable dialogues penned by Sachin Darekar, the film has achieved, what it exactly wanted to convey to the sensible audience.
Siddharth kamat (Sachit Patil) is a widower with a little child- Mihir (Atharva Bedekar), having lost his wife Ria (Manasi Salvi) only a year ago. Being a well known architect , he is deputed by a big builder (Viju Khote) to develop his huge Lonavla project. He comes across a young interior decorator Akshara ( Pallavi Subhash) who along with her partner is keen on getting the job of Lonavla project, designed by Sidharth. The builder also sends his divorcee daughter Prajakta (Anuja Sathe) with her little daughter to help Siddharth in the project.
Asa Mee Ashi Tee, MovieSidharth already feeling lonely, becomes happy in the company of Akshara and also lends his support to Prajakta, to overcome her personal problem. Mihir gets attached to Akshara and finds his mother’s love in her. A time comes when Akshara expresses her love to Sidharth, who also reciprocates and agrees to meet her mother in Mumbai. But, there is some force that prevents him from meeting Akshara. Very cleverly the director has presented this situation before the audience, which is something new attempted in a Marathi film. The screenplay has generated a lot of curiosity at every situation, with non predictable outcome. Finally, all is well at the end; but the manner in which the film unfolds every situation, does create a strong impact.
Music plays a very important part in this otherwise mystery filled film. All the songs have been picturised very well. Best part of the film is the fitting background music and good sound effects during mystery filled scenes. The spirit of Shambhu (Bharat Dabholkar) and his team has been used well to create that required creepy effect, in the film. Thanks to Kedar Gaikwad’s excellent cinematography. Good art direction of Shailesh Mahadik and clever editing by Apoorva Motiwale and Ashish Mhatre has made this film technically sound.
Fine performances come from all the artistes, to make this 150 minute long film more convincing. Sachit Patil is at his best. He has ample scope to express his emotions at different situations. Watch his reaction, when he finds his wife breathing her last in his arms. In the role of Ria, it was nice to see Manasi Salvi making a comeback, after ‘Sadrakshanay’. She has one emotion filled long scene, besides those flashback scenes, used in the interaction of Sidharth with Bhaoji ( Aadesh Bandekar) in a reality show, which is part of the screenplay. In his limited role, even Aadesh Bandekar has expressed his emotions very well.
Pallavi Subhash finds a good role of Akshara in this film and she has performed the same with total conviction. It’s a difficult role; but Pallavi has made it look easy in this film. Her quick change of expressions are well presented with a perfect body language. Child actor Atharva Bedekar is impressive. Bharat Dabholkar is the right selection of the director to play the spirit of Shambhu. His strong personality and body language suits well in that role. Atul Kale, besides directing this film, has also an important role to play in this film and he has done his part well. He has also rendered one song in his own voice. Shoma Anand who plays Akshara’s Punjabi mother, has been used well, for a change. Anuja Sathe doesn’t find much scope, but she has played her role, understanding every situation well. Others in the supporting cast have done good job.
‘Asa Mee Ashi Tee’ is a worth watch, for its unusual theme, which has something different, to convey. It’s a film for young and old, for its fine presentation. It will not be surprising to find more young audience turning up to watch this film.
Captivating and realistic ‘Satya Savitri Aani Satyavan’

Banner: Shree Yamai Pictures Producer: Shamal Parab Director, Editor: Sarvesh Parab Story: Rajiv Joshi Screenplay, Dialogues: Sanjay Mone Music: Aditya, Prafulchand Cast: Sachit Patil, Amruta Patki, Shruti Marathe, Ganesh Yadav, Anant Jog, Pradeep Welankar, Anand Ingle, Angad Mhaskar, Atul Kale.. Movie Review by: Ulhas Shirke |
“No government power can be abused in different ways. As long as people bear it, the show goes on, using new methods. And women are nowhere behind, in the race of power.” Today, we find political leaders making mockery of the system. They are using the power for their self gain, taking the voters for granted. Their hunger for power, is bringing division in the party and at home front too.
The latest released Marathi film ‘Satya Savitri Aani Satyavan’ reminds all of us about the famous mythological tale of Savitri, who did her best to save her husband- Satyavan from the clutches of death. But, today , can we find a Savitri ? That’s what the film poses a question to the audience? The greater the power, the more dangerous the abuse. That’s what the film has tried to convey. Marathi cinema is certainly going for a change. The director of the film- Sarvesh Parab, has claimed that it’s an original story , inspired by the Marathi one act play ‘Smrutipuja’.
The film begins with the case of a double murder, that of a political leader Balkrishna Pawar (Ganesh Yadav) and his bodyguard Baban Jadhav (Rahul Gore) at a district place. As per the first hand report with police, Baban Jadhav first fired point blank at Balkrishna Pawar and watching this, his second bodyguard fired at Baban Jadhav, in retaliation. Kakasaheb (Pradeep Velankar), the MLA of this district, arrives back home, as Balkrishna happens to be his son in law. The thirteenth day rituals are on, at the bungalow, when a CBI officer called Sunil Gavaskar (Sachit Jadhav) arrives from Mumbai, to carry out special investigation in the case, on the orders of the Government due to the complaint lodged by Baban’s wife Supriya, who is a school teacher in a local school. After his interaction with the two young widows, the dynamic CBI officer is stunned with their beauty and has a reason to suspect a possible conspiracy.
As the officer progresses with his investigations, he doubts many suspects and the audience keep on guessing as to who could be the real culprit. Only reliable person the officer finds from among the local police is Inspector Ramesh Bansode( Atul kale), who remains by his side from the beginning of his investigation till end. Writer Rajiv Joshi and director Sarvesh Parab have very skillfully presented every character in this film to give a realistic look of the political situation in this small town called Aadgaon. It’s not that we have not seen such kind of films in the past. Only few years ago, we saw a political thriller ‘Made in China’. Now, this film goes on to show another suspense filled political murder mystery.
Every other character has an important part to play, be it the widows Sandhya Pawar & Supriya Jadhav, the politician Krishna Pawar, his bodyguards – Baban Jadhav, Sada kadgaonkar, Kakasaheb-the MLA, Annasaheb- the Vice president of District Committee, Foreign returned Milind Torgal or Inspector Phulpagar . Their characters are all well knitted into the gripping screenplay penned by Sanjay Mone; who has also written the dialogues, which are well suited to every scene.Amruta Patki, Shruti Marathe
The manner in which the director has presented the leading lady Amruta Patki, is commendable. The former Miss India and Miss Earth, has successfully made an appeal, with her presence on the screen. Gifted with good height and stunning looks, she impresses in the very first scene of her entry in the film. Amruta was very comfortable in that role and never gave any indication about her debut. Her walking style, body language and her smile; everything looked graceful. At the same time, Shruti Marathe another talented actress, made her presence felt, with her looks and spontaneity in every scene, she was part of; in this film.
Sachit Patil has found one more good role after ‘Arjun’ to prove his ability and he has done justice to his role. In fact, he looks a perfect match (with his slim and fit personality) for both the girls, with whom he has performed in the title track, shown at the end of the film, in Bollywood style. Ganesh Yadav is at his best in the flashback scenes. Anand Ingale shows his versatility, through the devious character of Inspector Phulpagar. Veterans Pradeep Velankar, Sanjay Mone and Anant Jog match very well in their respective roles of politicians. While, Kishore Pradhan plays a typical Government servant, Angad Mhaskar plays shrewd foreign returned young man aspiring his dreams silently. Hemalata Bane impresses through her limited role of Sona Jalgaonkar; but, it gave an impression that her role was edited, to give pace to the enthralling screenplay. All others in supporting cast, have done well.
Music by Aditya Bedekar & Praful is good, though there isn’t much scope for songs. But, the background score is appealing. Cinematography by A.K.N.Sabestian is noteworthy besides perfect editing by director Sarvesh Parab himself, using his past expertise with well known hit films to his credits. He has concluded the film very well in the climax. Looking at the efforts put in post production, technically speaking, ‘Satya Savitri aani Satyavan’ is a Captivating and realistic film, which is a worth watch.
Sachit Patil is hopeful about his new film
After giving a memorable performance of an angry young man through an action packed film ‘Arjun’, Actor Sachit Patil is now all set to appear as an investigative Police officer through his much awaited film ‘Satya Savitri Aani Satyavan’. Sachit was all smiles, to receive compliments for his performance in this film, during the Press show of the film.
Speaking to Marathi Movie world, Sachit said that he was very hopeful about his new film’s success. The film presents him opposite popular Supermodel Amruta Patki, who makes her debut in Marathi film through this film. “It was a very good team work,” he reacted after the show. Directed by Survesh Parab, this film has a strong star cast comprising of other talented artistes like Shruti Marathe, Pradeep Velankar, Anand Ingale, Atul Kale, Angad Mhaskar, Ganesh Yadav, Anant Jog, Sanjay Mone, Hemalata Bane, Kishore Pradhan, Janardan Parab and others. Sachit has 3 more films in hand and two more of his films are expected to release by the end of this year.
Sensational ‘Arjun’ turns an eye opener

Ilyas Music: Lalit Sen Camera: Ajib Khan Cast: Sachit Patil, Amruta Khanvilkar, Vidyadhar Joshi, Varsha Usgaonkar, Vinay Apte, Arun Nalawade, Uday Tikekar, Snigdha Sabnis, Kamalesh Sawant, Uday Sabnis, Anant Jog, Mamata Soni Movie Review by: Ulhas Shirke |
A man willing to work, and unable to find work, is perhaps the saddest sight that fortune’s inequality exhibits today. At this juncture, when we witness lakhs of youths in Maharashtra unemployed, with no drive among them to enter into business, here comes a new Marathi film ‘Arjun’ with a timely message to inspire all the Marathi youths, in particular. ‘Arjun’ produced by Majid Burondkar and F.M. Ilyas, is written and directed by F.M. Ilays. Based on his real life experiences of struggle to set up his own business during his young days, the writer has presented a gripping story of a well educated protagonist who is exploited by a leading businessman who wants to rule over Mumbai.
Mr. Ilyas presents this sensational story of Arjun Pawar (Sachit Patil) a young boy from middle class family, who after completing his MBA opts for business and is exploited by a shrewd businessman- Ratan Shah (Vidyadhar Joshi) and his agent- Mr. Mahajan (Arun Tikekar) in a busines deal. Arjun is in love with Anushka (Amruta Khanvilakr) who is Mahajan’s daughter; and both want to get married soon. After Amruta proceeds to Australia for an advanced short term course in Management, Mr. Mahajan plays his dirty game with the support of Ratan Shah and uses the project and name of Arjun, while finalising a land deal with Jay Thackeray a businessman and an investor in land.
Interestingly, the character of Jay Thackeray (Vinay Apte) who is strongly in favour of selling his land to a Maharashtrian, refuses to sell it to Ratan Shah, who in turn uses Arjun as a prospective buyer ,with an assurance to finance his project. Jai Thackeray’s wife Maya (Varsha Usgaonkar) also favours Arjun and Jay Thackeray sings a deal.
Arjun is later trapped by Ratan Shah with the help of his agent Mahajan and is sent to jail, implicating him in a serious offence. Arjun learns a lesson from this horrible experience and vows to accomplish his mission. At a time, when his mother dies in an accident he receives timely help from a lawyer and financial backing from a person already known to him. His first target becomes Ratan Shah and his business. With his quick thinking, he goes in search of a person well versed with the tricks of stock trading. He finds one in the form of Bajirao Satpute. Bajirao helps him gain control over stock market, the main source of finance for Ratan Shah. He defeats him step by step and also wipes out the charges on him for an offence with the timely help from a honest police officer.
The sequences in the film are not something we haven’t heard of; but, for Marathi audience the script of this film certainly inspires. Through the character of Arjun, the writer-director Illays has tried to build confidence in Marathi youths to enter business in a city like Mumbai, which is a good step. He also shows the way to success. Though there are few scenes moving very fast towards the end , it is the sincerity of the director that shows his commitment towards the issue. He has rightly used Hutatma Chowk during two important sequences, i.e. when Arjun vows to teach a leson to the lobby of businessmen and later during the climax scene.
Perfromances of all the artistes are good. Sachit Patil does well to present the new angry young man of Marathi films. His looks and his spontaneity in important scenes were worth noticing. Amruta Khanvilkar supports him well in this male dominated film. She does well when she confronts with her father after returning from Australia. Uday Tikekar, Vinay Apte, Kamalesh Sawant (as Police officer), Varsha Usgaonkar, Uday Sabnis (Advocate), Dr. Vilas Ujawane (Politician), Arun Nalawade (frustrated but perfect Stock market analyst), Snigdha Sabnis( Mother), Anant Jog(Income tax officer) and Dr. Vilas Ujavane (Politician) perform their limited roles with ease. But, it is the shrewd businessman Ratan Shah played by Vidyadhar Joshi, impresses the most. He has established himself as the new villain of Marathi film industry with his proficiency as a complete actor in this film.
Strong dialogues by Sachin Darekar and punch lines by F.M. Ilyas create that desired impact during forceful confrontations . Music by Lalit Sen is good but one of the four songs was irrelevant and breaks the rhythm of the screenplay. The climax where the hero chases the villain has been shot on the lines of popular Bollywood- hit revenge based films. However, the picturisation of songs and the action scenes are well captured through the lenses of Najib Khan. The finest locations and action sequences, never before seen in Marathi films are the added attractions of the film. Editing work of Faisal and Imran Mahadik is good to give that required pace to this action packed film. There is one more good thing about the film’s script and that is Arjun’s character in the film. He is not shown selfish and concerned about his own progress but, moves ahead with his sincere desire to help other deserving Marathi youths to enter business. And that makes the film stand apart with a sensible message of ‘Unity is Strength’.
‘Kshanbhar Vishranti ’- A friendly romantic film!

Presenter: Shree Autographs Films Producers: Sandeep Shinde, Maulik Bhat Story & Director: Sachit Patil Camera: Sanjay Jadhav Lyrics: Guru Thakur Music: Hrishikesh Kamerkar Cast: Bharat Jadhav, Sachit Patil, Siddharth Jadhav, Sonalee, Maanava Naik, Pooja Sawant, Kadambari Kadam… Movie Review by: Sandeep Hattangadi |
Sachit Patil’s ‘Kshanbhar Vishranti’ is a Marathi version of Farhan Akhtar’s classic ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ based on friends, with the setting changed from Goa to Alibag. Ritwik (Sachit Patil) returns from US due to a job loss, in wake of recession in the IT sector. He reunites his old friends Vishnu (Siddharth Jadhav), Avya and Ravya together for a trip to Alibag, where he owns a bungalow which is on the verge of sell.
The film then takes a cue from Shakti Samanta classic ‘Kashmir Ki Kali’ plot, where the caretaker Appa (Bharat Jadhav) has turned this bungalow into a hotel for tourists.
Appa is very apologetic to Ritwik and Ritwik is kind enough to forgive him. However, Appa is disheartened to know that the bungalow is being sold to a businessman rich enough to turn into a swanky joint. There is a sub-plot of romance between the four friends who woo the bungalows inmates, Neha (Maanava Naik-Appa’s niece), a micro-biology student turned singer (Sonalee ), a fashion designer (Pooja Sawant), and an MBBS student (Kadambari Kadam).
Soon, you find them sing tuneful songs on the beautiful beaches and other scenic locations shot beautifully with dazzlingly lit frames by cinematographer Sanjay Jadhav.
There is a lot of comic ad-libbing between the friends and their girlfriends and they finally decide to get hitched. But the bungalow situation is finally solved on Appa’s plea to Ritwik, who decides to run the hotel himself with Vishnu and Appa as his partners and turns down the offer of the buyer.
The film is incredibly beautiful at first look at and all the actors especially the girls woo the camera in style with camera friendly looks. Siddharth Jadhav is the pick of the actors providing the much required laughter. Sachit Patil looks handsome and is as good a director besides being an actor. Among the girls Maanava Naik and Sonalee Kulkarni are good. Bharat Jadhav is reliable as ever. Shubhangi Gokhale, Jayraj Nayar ,lend good support. The debutant actors have tried hard to impress.
Late Amit Pawar deserves a special mention for his snip-snap editing. The lyrics by Guru Thakur have been composed well on the music of Hrishikesh Kamerkar, especially the ‘Holiday’ and ‘Bavraa’ songs. Rajesh Bidve’s choreography also deserves a special mention as he has utilized the natural beauty of Alibag and Revdanda very well.
In all, this ‘Autograph Films’ presentation produced by Sandeep Shinde and Maulik Bhat is certainly worth a dekko!
‘SADE MAADE TEEN’ REVIEW

Presenter: Zee Talkies Producers: Anubhuti Art Director: Ankush Chaudhari – Sachit Patil Music: Ajit Parabh – Hrishikesh Kamerkar Cast: Ashok Saraf, Makarand Anaspure, Bharat Jadhav, Siddharth Jadhav, Amruta Khanvilkar, Sujata Joshi… Movie Review by: Nayana |
What do u get when you put together 3 brilliant marathi actors and give a Desi Tadka of oldie Chalti ka naam gaadi? Simple…! This makes a new massala movie in marathi. A few years back Mahesh Kothare tried such a Tadka in his “Dhumdhadaka’ which was based on ‘Pyar Kiye jaa’, and marathi movie industry rejuvenated. Else marathi film was stucked in a wicked savkar(money lander)/ jamindar(landowner) and sasurvashin/ saas bahu type, so called ‘bechari bahu’ , and overflowing buckets of tears with sobbing women coming out of the cinema halls. It was Mahesh Kothare (Dhumdhadaka) and Sachin Pilgaonkar’s (Navari mile navryala) efforts, which really dragged marathi film out of such stuff.
When one started speaking about marathi films 2types of reflex actions suddenly blown on – one is with twisting faces ‘We don’t like to watch marathi films’, and another one with a deep sigh ‘Gone those golden days of marathi films’!!
History repeated and aapale Sachit Patil and Ankush Chaudhary along with Zee talkies and Anubhuti Arts entered in film production with ‘Saade Maade Teen’. Na!! It’s not a remake or replica, but it’s a metamorphosis of the same theme bloomed in the marathi mati. Ofcourse, inspired from ‘Chalti ka nam Gadi’ one of Kishor Kumar’s debut film, the film is a rib-tickling comedy set against the backdrop of Garage, filled with ‘Ek ladki bhigi…’ type ‘barasat’ ka gana or may be ‘panch rupaiyya’ type, leading to hilarious situations!
While this film promises to be potential blockbuster this year, it also makes the launch of Zee Talkies brand.
The story is of 3 brothers- the family head ‘Dada’ (Ashok Saraf) and his 2 brothers Madan (Makarand Anaspure) and Chandan (Bharat Jadhav), running their Kurale garage. The younger duo never dares to go against dada’s wish. Dada is a character who hates female because of his first crush. A gal (Sukanya Kulkarni) betrayed him after a marriage proposal.
Obviously, when 2 gals enters in the life of the younger ones, the chaos evoked, and both caught in dilemma of the threat of Dada and emotional attachments. Here enters the Villain to create obstacle between the life of our dupe Chandan, and opulent Madhura. Now guess who help this couple? So after removing all the barricades, the smashing end of the film…
Sachit and Ankush played a safe game. Well, half battle was already won by casting these trios, and afterwards director didn’t allow Makarand and Bharat to rove from the basic storyline. Even they haven’t added their famous accent shown in other films and used them tactfully as never seen before.
A little but most important thing, if they could use the Ashok saraf’s caliber more effectively, as the role offered to him is less challengeable as compare to his capacity, the film would be definitely full 2 dhamal!!!
Else nothing to say about their fantastic tuning, understanding, and coordination. Instead our wise audience won’t accept such a dupe characters. Needless to say Minor mistake like winning applause by repeating same dialogue excusable!!
Dialogues by Sanjay Mone satisfy you. Well, its not a burst of laughter in fact the film doesn’t need it, but more sharp dialogues would keep the film at great height surely.
The directors have taken some kind of support of farcical comedy. The climax fighting comes in the form of farce. Of course no one expects smashing de danadan fighting as it is not an action film, but still…..missing something in this shot only. Otherwise the film takes you from smiling to chuckling and then giggling. Overall a fresh comedy!!!
