In the past we have seen sequels of very few Marathi dramas and now we will find another sequel of hit Marathi play ‘Goshta tashi Gamtichi’. Announcement to this effect was made recently during the 400th show of this play held at Gadkari Rangayatan, Thane and that too in presence of many dignitaries like N.Chandra, Aadesh Bandekar, Jitendra Joshi, Anant Jog, Bhau kadam,Sagar karande and many others.

This popular play starring Mangesh Kadam, Leena Bhagwat & Shashank Ketkar had received very good response from Marathi drama lovers, as the subject of this play dealt with dispute between Father and son, over selection of suitable career by the son. Now, in the sequel the same dispute is carried forward, but in a more dramatic manner. Producer Nandu kadam will be the producer of this sequel , while Mihir Rajda will expand the story and Advait Dadarkar will continue as a director of this sequel too.

Speaking during this announcement, Mangesh kadam said that the sequel of this play is not being made, only because of the success of the play, but out of necessity. He expressed confidence in audience for accepting this sequel, as they loved the existing play.

‘Goshta Tashi Gamtichi’ all set to score unbeaten 400

Shashank Ketkar’s debut Marathi play ‘Goshta Tashi Gamtichi‘ is all set to score unbeaten 400, when this play will perform its 400th show on the auspicious Padwa day during Diwali on 20th October 2017. Highlight of this play is that ever since its launch three years ago, there has been no replacement of artistes for all the 399 shows performed till date. For Shashank Ketkar and Leena Bhagwat this is their first play to reach the 400 mark.

Speaking on this occasion, lead actress Leena Bhagwat said, “This play has given all of us a total satisfaction and happiness. Those who saw this play showered on us the love and affection as family members. And, watching their overwhelming response, we tried to do something different for every new show we performed. This helped us to retain the freshness in the play“. Mangesh kadam, who also plays lead character in this film said that this play received the same kind of appreciation abroad, as much it received from the audience in Maharashtra.

Produced by Nandu Kadam under the banner of Sonal Productions, ‘Goshta Tashi Gamtichi’ play is written by Mihir Rajda and directed by Advait Dadarkar. Music by Abhijit Pendharkar, costumes by Amita Khopkar, Production design by Pradeep Patil and light effects by Ravi Karmarkar are the other credits.

Why Marathi TV stars are not successful Film stars ?

Sangram Samel, Hardik Joshi, Bhushan Pradhan
Sangram Samel, Hardik Joshi, Bhushan Pradhan

Over the years, we have seen many popular television artistes making their debut in Marathi films. But, they don’t achieve much success on big screen, especially when they play lead roles. What could be the reason ? MarathiMovieWorld did speak to few home viewers of their serials and their reply was very simple. Most of them don’t watch Marathi films in theatre. But, some of them do watch Marathi plays and therefore, when a popular Marathi TV artiste performs in a new or revived Marathi play, he is keenly watched by his fans.

Some actors like Nana Patekar, Ashok Saraf, Late Laxmikant Berde, Late Kashinath Ghanekar and few others, who found their entry into films directly from their stage experience, while few like Sachin Pilgaonkar and Mahesh Kothare already had their strong background as child artistes in Hindi and Marathi films.

But today, we find many TV artistes being preferred by Marathi film makers, perhaps to cash on their popularity. And, the best examples are, ‘Duheri‘ fame Sanket Pathak, who is making his debut in ‘Dostigiri‘, ‘Tujhyat Jeev Rangala‘ fame Hardik Joshi, who is making his debut in ‘Journey Premachi‘ and ‘Pudhcha Paul‘ fame Sangram Samel, who is all set to make his debut in the film ‘Braveheart‘.
In the past, we had seen popular young male TV artistes like Santosh Juvekar, Bhushan Pradhan, Vaibhav Tatwawdi and few others making their entry into Marathi films. But, in the roles of a solo hero, they couldn’t attain much success. Shashank Ketkar made his debut through the film ‘One way Ticket playing a parallel hero, but the film flopped. There is an exception like Swwapnil Joshi; but he was already a popular star on Hindi television too. So, all eyes now, on the film debut of Hardik, Sanket and Sangram.

Finally, Janhavi says Goodbye to home viewers

Tejashree Pradhan, Shshank Ketkar, Honar Sun Mi Hya Gharchi
Shashank Ketkar, Tejashree Pradhan in Marathi Serial ‘Honar Sunn mi Hya Gharchi’

Finally, Janhavi played by Tejashree Pradhan has said goodbye, after delivering a baby girl. Her serial ‘Honar Suun Mi Hya Gharchi’ has come to an end, with its final episode held yesterday. From 25th January 2016 onwards, the audience will welcome a new serial ‘Pasant Aahe Mulgi’ in its place. Produced by Nitin Vaidya & Ninad Vaidya, this new serial is directed by Raju Sawant, with the concept designed by well known film and drama director  Sameer Vidwans.

‘Pasant Aahe Mulgi’ is based on the subject of ‘matchmaking’ and questions about necessity of horoscope matching, when the couple is already on the same wavelength, with their thinking process matching each other. The story of this serial revolves around Urmi and Vasu, who fall in love with each other during their college days and later Vasu proposing Urmi for marriage. How their contrast family lifestyles, accept their coming together, is what the serial is all about.   The lead artistes of this serial are  Resham Prashant and Abhishek Deshmukh along with Girish Oak playing the most important role of Pant. The other artistes of this serial are Meghana Vaidya, Padmanabh Bind, Ketaki Saraf, Namrata Kadam, Rama Joshi, Vijay Mishra & Siddhirupa Karmarkar. But, how this serial is able to convince the audience with this subject, it remains to be seen.

It may be recalled that all those new serials released during the past few months have not been very appealing, with nothing new offered through the subject of the serial. Therefore, the expectations of the viewers from any new serial introduced, are very high. In comparison, some of the entertainment shows, were well accepted. The best example is that of  ‘Countdown of Marathi songs- Mirchi Top 20’  programmes, presented by Colors channel.

Last week, Maiboli channel presented two  Marathi films ‘Samudra’ and ‘Agnidivya’ with  interesting subjects . Both the films had renowned artistes from Marathi and had some good content to offer. Even otherwise, Maiboli channel offeres many such Marathi films, which were not shown before on TV channels. It is good to watch such films, instead of watching the routine Marathi comedy films, which are telecast in repeat runs, on other channels.
