Legendary Playback Icon Asha Bhosle Passes Away at 92, Nation Mourns a Musical Era
In a profound loss to Indian cinema and music, legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle passed away on Sunday(12th April 2026) afternoon at the age of 92. She breathed her last at Breach Candy Hospital, where she had been undergoing treatment following a sudden deterioration in her health on April 11, 2026.
According to medical officials, the veteran singer had been admitted to the intensive care unit after suffering from a cardiac episode, chest infection, and extreme fatigue. Doctors later confirmed that she succumbed to multiple organ failure despite continued treatment.

A towering figure in Indian film music for over eight decades, Asha Bhosle was celebrated for her versatility, distinctive voice, and an unparalleled body of work spanning thousands of songs across languages and genres. Her demise marks the end of an era that defined generations of music lovers.
The news has triggered an outpouring of grief across the entertainment industry. Veteran actress Hema Malini and lots of Marathi Celebrities expressed deep sorrow, writing on social media.

Her son, Anand Bhosle, informed that fans and well-wishers can pay their last respects at her residence from 11 AM on Monday. The final rites will be conducted at Shivaji Park at 4 PM.
