Producer Sadanand( Pappu) Lad launched his new Marathi film ‘Dehaant‘ recently at Lad Ganapati temple Girgaon, with a muhurat ceremony. After the muhurat, the shooting of this film is currently in progress, at various places in Girgaon, to give this film a realistic look. On the muhurat day itself, there was a big crowd gathered to see TV actor Surhud Wadekar ( ‘Asava Sundar Swapnancha Bangala‘ fame), who is part of this film. The film ‘Dehaant‘ is being produced under his banner of LG Productions and will be presented by Ankur Movies.

Written by Pradeep Mhapuskar, the film is directed by Bhagwandas, who has worked as assistant with many reputed directors. The film’s story invites the attention of parents to the deviation of children from sports to mobile phone apps addiction. In short, the film ‘Dehaant‘ has a timely message. Besides Surhud Wadekar, the film stars Ashok Shinde, Deepti Bhagwat, Supriya Vinod, Ankur Lad, Rashmi Rajput in important roles. Music by Lahu-Madhav and cinematography by Santosh are the other credits of this film.

Laxmikant Berde’s son Abhinay Berde all set to make his acting debut

His name is Abhinay, which clearly suggests that he is a born actor. His father late Laxmikant Berde was a superstar of Marathi films during 80s and 90s, besides establishing himself as a comedian in Bollywood. Now, Abhinay Berde is all set to make his debut as an actor through forthcoming Marathi film ‘Ti Saddhya Kay Karte‘, which is scheduled to release on 6th January 2017 to begin the new year with a bang.

Ti Saddhya Kay Karte‘  film has an interesting cast. Along with Abhinay Berde another young actress is also making her debut. She is Arya Ambekar, the singer turned actress, who had invited the attention of Maharashtrian households through popular music reality show Sa Re Ga Ma.. The film also stars another lead pair of Ankush Chaudhari and ‘Honaar Suun Mi Hya Gharchi‘ TV serial fame Tejashree Pradhan. The other important artistes of this film are, Nirmohi Agnihotri, Hruditya Rajwade, Isha Phadke, Sukanya Kulkarni Mone, Sanjay Mone, Anuradha Rajadhyaksha, Prasad Barve and Tushar Dalvi. The film ‘Ti Saddhya Kay Karte‘ presents the story of Anurag and Tanvi right from their childhood and is directed by Satish Rajwade for producer Arvind Jog and presenters Zee Studios. The four songs in this film are composed by three different music directors, namely Nilesh Moharir, Avinash Vishwajeet and Mandar Apte.

After taking a month long break post marriage, Mrunmayee Deshpande is back to face the camera. This time, she pairs up with Mr. World Thakur Anoop Singh, who is also set to make his debut in Marathi, through forthcoming film ‘Bebhaan‘. Anoop’s two films ‘Commando 2‘ in Hindi and ‘Singham 3‘ in Telugu are also due for release. But, when ‘Bebhaan‘ releases next year, it will certainly invite the attention of all film lovers. For Mrunmayee Deshpande, this will be a big challenge, as she will begin her new innings in Marathi films, after marriage.

Directed by Anup Ashok Jagdale, ‘Bebhaan‘ film is being made under the banner of Shambhavi Films by producer Madhukar Uddhav Deshpande. Besides Thakur Anoop Singh and Mrunmayee Deshpande, the film also stars Smita Jaykar and Sanjay Khapre. This action film has music by A.V.Prafullchandra on the lyrics of Mangesh Kangane.

Manish Paul to make his debut in Marathi through ‘Hrudayantar’

Recently we heard about the launch of Vikram Phadnis Marathi film ‘Hrudayantar‘ starring Subodh Bhave and Mukta Barve in the lead role. Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan had given the muhurat clap of this film. Now, this film is in the news once again, as popular we understand that TV anchor and actor Manish Paul will be making his debut in Marathi films, through this film.

Manish Paul is playing his own self in ‘Hrudayantar‘ film, which is an emotion filled story, presented by producers Vikram Phadnis and Pratap Sarnaik along with his son Purvesh Sarnaik and directed by Vikram Phadnis. Manish Paul could not say ‘no’ to his friend Vikram, when he approached him to play this guest role as a chief guest, while shooting for a scene of school’s annual sports day programme. Reacting on his experience of working in a Marathi film, Manish said that, “It was a good experience for him to be amongst school children and he really enjoyed it“.

Renowned glamorous Marathi film actress Manisha Kelkar who began her acting career with Marathi film ‘Bhola Shankar‘, later performed in Marathi films like ‘Hyancha Kaahi Nem Nahi‘, ‘Ghartyasathi Sara Kahi‘, ‘Mission Possible‘, ‘Majha Mee‘ and ‘Chandrakor‘ besides few Hindi films, will now play a dashing lady police officer in new Bollywood film, title of which has not been announced yet. Manisha Kelkar who plays the character of Inspector Shalini Patil has been casted opposite Arbaaz Khan in this film produced by Pradeep Rangawani and directed by Shubhrato Paul.

Very excited about this new offer, Manisha Kelkar said, “After hearing the script of this film, I felt that my knowledge of Martial arts will be very useful for this role. In this film, myself and Arbaaz are investigating a murder case, which leads to a drama; and the film’s action filled screenplay revolves around it. Arbaaz has also praised my role, calling me ‘Marathi Mulgi’. He is himself playing Inspector Lokhande. Before this film, I had done two hindi films, namely ‘Bandook’ and ‘Lottery’.”

There was a time when Tamasha Empress Vithabai Narayangaonkar ruled over the hearts of tamasha lovers in Maharashtra. Vithabai was responsible in getting government and public recognition for ‘Tamasha‘ the folk art of Maharashtra, thereby becoming the first female artist to win the president’s award for this art. However, in spite of earning immense popularity, prestige, honour and money, she had only faced disappointments during the last stages of her life.

Now, to bring the extraordinary life of the Vithabai Narayangaonkar, to the general public, a film ‘Vitha‘ based on her life, will soon hit the screens. Namrata Entertainment Pvt. Ltd, in collaboration with another film production company Aapla Picture has produced this film. Recently, the film’s shooting was completed and now the technical and post production work is in progress. The film ‘Vitha‘  is directed by Pundalik Dhumal.

Popular talented actress Urmila Kanitkar-Kothare, plays the title role of Vithabai Narayangaonkar, while Upendra Limaye will be playing a very important role. The screenplay and dialogues of ‘Vitha‘ are written by Pundalik Dhumal and Shantanu Rode. Sanjay Jadhav and Devendra Golatkar are the cinematographers, while art director is Mahesh Salgaonkar and music is by Ajit Parab, Sameer Mhatre and Rohit Nagbhide. The film will be released during the coming new year.

Subodh Bhave has two films lined up for release

After attaining success through films like ‘Lokmanya’ and ‘Katyar Kaljaat Ghusali’ in 2015, Subodh Bhave was not in news, though two of his films, ‘Bandh Nylonche’ and ‘Kiran Kulkarni v/s Kiran Kulkarni’ were released during 2016. Both these films didn’t do well. But now, Subodh has two successive releases in the form of Fugay opposite Swwapnil Joshi for the first time and Karaar opposite Urmila Kanetkar Kothare and Kranti Redkar. Interestingly, both  these films have different  subjects.

Recently, during the music launch of his film, ‘Karaar’ Subodh made it very clear that he enjoyed working with his co stars who give their 100%. Interestingly, Subodh has also been signed by Bollywood dress designer Vikram Phadnis for his debut Marathi film ‘Hrudayantar’ and that too opposite Mukta Barve, which itself is a big news. During the muhurat of this film held recently, Bollywood superstar had come to give the clap. Having won best actor awards in the past, these forthcoming three films are considered to be most important for Subodh.

Veteran Hindi and Marathi film actor Viju Khote celebrated his 75th birthday with his family members.  Born on 17th December 1941, Viju Khote has worked as character actor in more than 300 films in his acting career, which began with a Marathi film ‘Ya Malak’ in 1964. Since then, he has been performing character roles non stop for the past 52 years.

Younger brother of popular veteran actress Shubha Khote and son of stage actor Nandu Khote, Viju Khote became popular after the release of super hit film ‘Sholay’ in which he played Kalia, the close associate of villain Gabbar played Amjad Khan. Recently, we saw him in the Marathi film ‘Ventilator’. With his helpful nature Viju Khote has many admirers. He was also chief guest of Marathi Movie World award function last year. Wishing him a very happy birthday.

Marathi KBC Quiz programme on Colors channel has so far presented many Marathi celebrities, who have contributed their winning amount to the charities. Now, on 28th December 2016 the home viewers of this channel will witness renowned Bollywood film maker and choreographer Farah Khan. Farah Khan was more than happy to be part of this Marathi KBC, having already participated in the previous sessions presented by Mr. Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan respectively on Sony Channel.

In the Marathi KBC programme Farah Khan will donate the amount won by her to Jai Vakil Foundation. In this special episode the viewers will witness Farah Khan enjoying every moment in the company of Swwapnil Joshi, besides teaching him few dance steps, while fulfilling his wish of dancing with her. She also shared some emotion filled moments in her life. Being a food lover, she also admitted that she loves to carry food for others on the sets, while shooting.

Third Eye Asian Film festival begins in Mumbai

The 15th Third Eye Asian Film festival was opened on Thursday 15th December, with the opening ceremony at the hands of Mr. Ram Naik, Governor of U.P. On this inaugural day, well known film maker Govind Nihalani was felicitated with the prestigious Film Culture Award, which was presented to him by chief guest Mr. Ram Naik. Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Govind Nihalani stressed the need of producing films connected with Indian soil. ” We should be proud of our own culture and see to it that our films go worldwide,” he said.

Chief guest Mr. Ram Naik praised the hard work put in by Mr. Sudheer Nandgaonkar for organizing this festival every year. Present on this occasion were Mr. Kiran Shantaram, president of the organizing committee, Jury member of short film section Ramesh Talwar and others. This seven day festival will be held upto 22nd December, when films from countries like Iran, Nepal, Bangladesh, Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon will be screened. There is a separate section for Marathi films in this festival, besides competition for short films.
