Style icon Ankush Choudhary’s first look of ‘Guru’ unveiled
After the success of ‘Dagadi Chawl‘, Ankush Choudhary has become the new style icon of Marathi film industry. Now, he looks more confident of shouldering the responsibility of a film, as a solo hero. And, to begin the new year, he has a suitable role to play in his forthcoming Marathi film ‘Guru’, directed by Sanjay Jadhav and produced by Eros International, Dreaming Twenty Four Seven and Bagpiper Soda.
No wonder, we have seen the commercial ads of Bagpiper Soda, presenting Ankush Choudhary along with his leading lady Urmila Kanitkar Kothare and actor Sayaji Shinde. The makers of this film, unveiled the special poster designed by Publicity designer Sachin Gurav and also the first look of ‘Guru’ presenting a song picturised on Ankush, displaying different styles of sunglasses, while singing, dancing and fighting, on the music of Amitraj. Singer Adarsh Shinde has rendered the voice for him, with lyrics by Sachin Pathak.
Director Sanjay Jadhav was the happiest man today, to notice a good attendance of media persons, for this event. This also gives him an indication of Ankush Choudhary’s popularity. The film is all set to release on 22nd January 2016.

Shruti Marathe to begin her new year with a bang
Though she has been able to gain popularity as an actress on small screen, Shruti Marathe is still trying hard to establish herself as a lead actress, in Marathi films. She did receive lead roles in few films including ‘Tujhi Majhi Love Story’; but these films didn’t do well at ticket windows. But, her performance was noticed in films like ‘Rama Madhav’, ‘Taptapadi’ and latest released film ‘Mumbai Pune Mumbai-2’.
With few days left for the opening of new year, Shruti Marathe is looking forward to release of her two films ‘Sangharshayatra’ and ‘Bandh Nylonche’, in which she has prominent roles to play. While in ‘Sangharshayatra’, she plays the role of Pankaja Munde , the young dynamic leader and daughter of late BJP leader late Gopinath Munde, in ‘Bandh Nylonche’ she plays opposite Subodh Bhave , which is also equally important role, as she has to react more, instead of delivering her dialogues, which are very limited to her share. But, Shruti is happy with these two roles and is eagerly waiting for the release of these two films.
‘Mohar’ decides to take on ‘Natsamrat’ on 1st January 2016
Only two days ago the makers of Marathi film ‘Mohar’ had announced that their film would be released on Christmas day, i.e. 25th December 2015. But, immediately the following day, they decided against it. In fact, 25th December was a good day for their film’s release, as it was a bank holiday and no other film is releasing that day. Even last Friday, there was no Marathi film released. But, as noticed in the recent past, our Marathi film makers, instead prefer to compete with other Marathi films. Much awaited Marathi film ‘Natasamrat’ has already announced its grand release on 1st January 2016. So, it remains to be seen, what are the chances of this film, to invite crowds at ticket windows. Surprisingly, makers of ‘Mohar’ haven’t done much of promotion, prior to its release. But, may be , they would like to focus on the few days left now, prior to its release.
Anyway, the film highlights a social issue and stars Prasad Oak, Aditi Sarangdhar , Sayaji Shinde, Vijay Arjun, Hemalata Bane, Vijay kadam & Manasi Naik. Choreography by Deepali Vichare, music by Milind More and camera work by Raja Phadtare are other credits . Made under the banner of V.G.Enterprises, by producers Chandrakant Pawar & Gautam Satdive, the film is directed by Vijay Patkar.
‘Bajirao Mastani’ has a touch of Marathi flavor

If you exclude the three main lead artistes of Friday release film ‘Bajirao Mastani’, you will find that the other prominent roles in this film are performed by our own artistes from Marathi film industry. Topping the list is veteran actor and film maker Mahesh Manjrekar, who will be seen in the role of King Shahu Maharaj. The other Marathi artistes, who are also playing important roles in this film are, Ganesh Yadav, Yatin Karyekar & Tanvi Azmi. And, this is not enough, as the list does not end here. If you look at other areas such as production and technical, behind the screen, there are many Marathi artistes, giving this film a Marathi flavor. Their names are, Ashwini Paranjape , Rohan Madkaikar, Sanket Pawar Sunit Sawant , Chetan Devlekar, Shobha Sant, Asish Tandel, , Yatin Bhave, Sandeep Mane Sanjeev Naik & Prasad Sutar, Jayesh Sakharkhane, Chaitanya Sant, Aishwarya Thakre & Rohan Rege. Film maker Samruddhi Porey has a moment of pride

After receiving overwhelming response for her Marathi film ‘Dr.Prakash Baba Amte- The real hero’, the biopic on social worker and Magsaysay Award winner from Maharashtra, filmmaker Samruddhi Porey shot the hindi version of this film titled ‘Hemalkasa’, with the same lead pair of Nana Patekar and Sonali Kulkarni. And, the good news is that this film has entered the final round of Oscars competition.
It may be recalled that when ‘Court’ was India’s official entry for the foreign language category, ‘Hemalkasa’ was admitted in the open category, along with three more regional language films, namely ‘Nachomiya Kum Pasar( Konkani), ‘Jalam( Malyalam) & ‘Rangi Tarang( Kannada). And, now the news has reached us that ‘Hemalkasa’ is the only film Indian film which has been admitted in the final round for the 88th Academy awards. This will make the film eligible for the competition to receive nomination in the best film, best actor and best actress category.
But, all this was possible because of the hard work put in by Samruddhi Porey in Los Angeles , for the past 3- 4 months, going through all the stages of formalities to show the film to the members of Jury. Now, all eyes on this film, to see,
whether it receives nominations in the three categories mentioned above, when the final list will be declared on 14th January 2016.

Cancellation of ‘Laathi’ show helps ‘Mumbai Pune Mumbai-2′

Late Sanjay Surkar’s last directed film ‘Laathi’ had announced its release in about fifty screens in Mumbai and surrounding areas from today, i.e. 11th December 2015. But, the film could not be released today at Plaza Cinema, Dadar, where the show of this film was scheduled at 3.30 pm. As a result of this, those who had come to see the film at this venue, preferred to watch ‘Mumbai Pune Mumbai-2′ for the second time, instead of returning home disappointed. MarathiMovieWorld.com correspondent , who had gone to see this film, noticed this scene at Plaza cinema ticket window.
It may be recalled that the makers of ‘Lathi’ neither had any press show for the media people, nor did they promote the film, in spite of having many big artistes like Sachin Khedekar & Subodh Bhave in this film.
Actually, this friday, there were three films to be released simultaneously. Out of which ‘Sangharsha Yatra’ backed out, postponing its release. But, ‘Laathi’ kept on is using daily ads in newspapers, about its release this friday. There was no clear indication, as to why the film’s show was cancelled. While the booking clerk at the ticket window stated that the film will be released on Saturday, the door keeper standing near the window, stated that there was no guarantee of the film’s release, even next day. We had heard about cancellation of a film’s show on the first day, for the reason of non arrival of print or non availability of audience; but the release of a film on Saturday, instead of Friday, is a news to film industry.
Whatever may be the reason, but the audience who had gone to see this film at different venues on the first day, must have been surely disappointed, as this was the last film of creative director Late Sanjay Surkar and the new producers had released this film, perhaps to pay tributes to the film maker of sensible Marathi films in the past. However, at Plaza Cinema, the makers of ‘Mumbai Pune Mumbai-2′ should thank the makers of ‘Lathi’ for the cancellation of their show, on the first day.
