Significance of Marathi Rangabhoomi Din
Over the years, Marathi dramas have played a very important role in the lives of many prominent artistes from Maharashtra. And, therefore, Marathi Rangabhoomi Din, also has a special significance. 5th November is celebrated as Marathi Rangabhoomi Din, making all of us realize the efforts put in by all the former artistes, to get recognition to this finest performing art. During the olden days, music based plays gained a lot of importance, as the characters used music based songs to communicate with each other. It may be recalled that in 1943, Vishnudas Bhave’s musical drama ‘Sita Swayamvar’ was first performed on stage, making it a historic moment for many drama lovers. 172 years have passed since then and today, Marathi stage has reached a stage, where many shows of popular plays, drawing house full audience, who are willing to pay Rs.300/- per ticket.
Today, we also find many old dramas being revived. Some of the popular plays of yesteryear’s, like ‘Katyar Kaljaat Ghusali’ and ‘Natasamraat’ are given cinematic look, with big stars in Marathi, part of these films. Some of the plays are also getting invitation from places like UK and USA, to perform there. And, that’s a big achievement. Well known poet and playwright William Shakespeare has lot of influence on some of the Marathi playwrights and the Marathi theatre audience have welcomed their ideas of presenting such subjects in Marathi, very efficiently, without losing the Marathi touch in the presentation.
On the occasion of Marathi Rangabhoomi Din, Marathi Movie World pays sincere tributes to all those great actors and presenters, who have kept Marathi Rangabhoomi live till date. And, we are sure, The show will go on , for many more years.
‘कवडसा’चे प्रभावी मानसशास्त्रीय सादरीकरण

Mrunmayee Deshpande to direct two Marathi films

Well Known Marathi stage TV and Film actress Mrunmayee Deshpande will turn director of two film projects. The announcement was made during the first look of Mrunmayee’s forthcoming film ‘Anuraag’, which is being presented by her, besides acting in this film. This film is directed by renowned Eye Surgeon Dr.Ambarish Darak and Mrunmayee has already taken lessons of direction in this film, under the leadership of Dr. Darak and well known cinematographer Suresh Deshmane, who is the technical director of this film.
Shot at beautiful locations of Leh –Ladakh, 18,500 feet above sea level; the film stars Mrunmayee along with Dharmendra Gohil( ‘Aga Bai Arechha’ fame). The film is scheduled for release on 21st January 2016. But, more than this film, everybody was eager to know about the special announcement to be made on the occasion. And, Show anchor Abhijeet Khandkekar invited Mrunmayee to reveal the secret. The first film to be directed by her will be ‘Athrava Unta’ and the name of the other film also to be directed by her , will be announced during an event, to be held shortly. So, ‘Mrunmayee Deshpande Creations‘, will be a new banner, which will be watched with keen interest in days to come.
Recalling the happy memories of ‘Aabhalmaya’

‘Aabhalmaya’ was one such serial on Marathi television, which won the hearts of all age groups, 16 years ago. Recently, the team members of this serial came together, to celebrate their happy memories. All those who were present, remembered late Vinay Apte , who had directed this serial. Mr. Achyut Vaze the producer of this serial, who had designed the concept, briefed the future plans of his production house ‘One Tree Media’ , which was expanding into other fields of entertainment, including films.
Many child artists of this serial have today matured, performing variety of roles . And, Pari Telang is one of them. Even otherwise, this serial has offered many talented artists to Marathi entertainment industry, who have become versatile actors. Mr. Vaze also stated that there was a big demand from the home viewers to revive the subject of ‘Aabhalmaya’, as they felt very much attached to the characters and their close association with each other. So, can we expect ‘Aabhalmaya 2’ or cinematic version of ‘Aabhalmaya’ ?
‘The Silence’ all set to create a buzz at Brazil

After winning the Director’s Vision award at the German Star of India 2015 Film festival, Marathi film ‘The Silence’ is all set to create a buzz in Brazil. Presented by SMR productions and directed by Gajendra Ahire, the film has found its entry for Brazilia International Film festival, which is scheduled between 6th and 15th November 2015. ‘The Silence’ is the first Indian film, to find its entry into this film festival, which has entries from countries like Mexico, Prague,Germany, Bulgaria,Cuba & Argentina. The film is already in news in India, for its different story, which speaks against the rising violence against young girls.
The film stars Nagraj Manjule and Kadambari Kadam in lead roles, along with well known actress from Hindi Anjali Patil, Raghuveer Yadav, a versatile Bollywood actor and two new faces Mugdha Chaphekar & Vedashree Mahajan. The music of this film is managed by Indian Ocean Rock band group, while cinematography is by Krishna Sorren.
‘Sadashiv Amrapurkar Foundation’ launched

On the occasion of 1st death anniversary of late Sadashiv Amrapurkar, his family members and well wishers have come forward to launch a foundation in his memory, which will be called ‘Sadashiv Amrapurkar Foundation’. Dr. Anand Nadkarni, who was present on the occasion, said that it was a perfect tribute to the actor , who always found time, for his social commitments.
Reema Amrapurkar, daughter of late Sadashiv Amrapurkar has also said that the purpose of forming this foundation is to create a platform for the talent from rural areas . Mr. Rajabhau Amrapurkar will be the chief trustee of this foundation, while the other members of the trust are Sunanda Amrapurkar and Dr. Anil Avachat.
Ajay Thakur announces his Marathi film ‘Raavas’

Well known Creative head and Editing expert of Bollywood films, Ajay Thakur, known for his work in films ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ and ‘Guzarish’; recently announced his Marathi film ‘Raavas’. This will also be a female oriented comedy film, set on the backdrop of fishermen community and a mermaid.
The film will be directed by Milind Kawade and will go on the floors in January 2016. The story of the film is written by Ajay Thakur himself and will be produced by Vandana Thakur, under the banner of Spice Stdio and entertainment. According to Ajay, it has taken a long time for him, to finalize the story of this film and now, very soon he will also announce the cast of the film. There are already rumours that Ketaki Mategaonkar may play the mermaid in this film. But, there is no official announcement about the same.
Actor Sudhir Dalvi returns with his Sai Baba image

Well Known saint Sai Baba of Shirdi is worshipped by many devotees all over India. But, hardly anyone living today, has seen him, as Baba said good bye to this world in 1918. Therefore, Baba is identified only through his photographs and his idols at different places, including Shirdi, in Maharashtra. However, there is one actor, who is a perfect match for the saint. And, he is Sudhir Dalvi. He is a popular Film and TV actor; but he first came into limelight with Manoj Kumar’s hit film of 1977 , ‘Shirdi Ke Sai Baba’ in which he played the title role of the popular saint.
Sudhir Dalvi later found character roles in many Hindi and Marathi films, numbering more than 60. But, in Hindi, he was often used to play a Baba or fakir. Do you remember that famous hit song ‘Aadmi Musafir hai, Aata hai Jataa hai…”? This was from the film ‘Apnapan’, which picturised on him and another Marathi actress Nivedita Joshi Saraf, who was then a child star. Sudhir Dalvi was later repeated in the same role of Sai Baba, by film maker Deepak Balraj in his 2001 film ‘Shirdi Sai Baba’, which was also a multi starrer film. This film was later dubbed in Marathi, as there were other popular Marathi artistes in this film, besides Sudhir Dalvi.
Sudhir Dalvi was last seen in 2011 Marathi film ‘Karuya Udyachi Baat’ by Kshitij Zarapkar. In the meanwhile, he performed in few Hindi serials. But, now he is making his comeback to both Hindi and Marathi films and that too with his Sai Baba image. His hindi film ‘Mere Sai Ram’, is releasing shortly and his Marathi film ‘Lord of Shingnapur’ is also releasing soon. In both the films, he is playing the role of Saibaba, though both the films, talk more about his devotees, rather than focusing more on his character. But, one thing is sure that if any film maker has to show Sai Baba in their films, they cannot think of anyone else, than Mr. Sudhir Dalvi.
New Film ‘Samarpan’ launched with new lead pair

Some Marathi film makers believe in opting for newcomers, for lead roles in their films. Director Balasaheb Gore is one of them. Incidentally, he has been appointed as member of IMPPA. The film is being made under the banner of Prasiddhi Film productions & presented by Abhang productions.
Recently, muhurat of this film was performed at the hands of M.P. Mr. Rahul Shewale. Present on the occasion were director of the film, veteran actress Priya Berde and other team members. The names of the two new young artistes are Vitthal Mandavkar & Shraddha Hande. Mahesh Jadhav & Priya Berde will be seen in a special roles in this film. The other artistes of the film are being finalized soon, after which the shooting of this film will begin.
Story, screenplay and dialogues of this film, are by Natha Sangolkar , music is by Sandeep Dange, while DOP will be Shyam Chakravarty.
Popular actress Usha Nadkarni in and as ‘London Chya Aajibai’

Well known actor Ashok Saraf and his chartered accountant brother Subhash Saraf, are all set to revive their Uncle’s Drama Group Kalamandir. As part of this plan, they have decided to launch their play ‘Londonchya Aajibai’, in London itself. Grandma Banarse is a famous character inspired from writer Sarojini Vaidya’s book ‘Kahani London Chya Aajibainchi’. Rajiv Joshi has converted her story into this drama. It is a story of a domestic servant from Choundi village in Vidarbha, who goes to London for household work; but, later starts her own catering business.
The big news is that popular versatile actress Usha Nadkarni has been selected to play this central character in this play. Produced by Smita Saraf, the play will be directed by Santosh Verulkar. The other important character of Meera will be played by Vedangi Kulkarni. Maharashtra Mandal London, have come forward to stage the shows in London. The inaugural shows of this play will therefore be staged in London and Britain, between 31st October to 8th November 2015.
