Oscars award winner famous Indian film sound designer Resul Pookutty recently experimented something new for Marathi films. Resul recently recorded On- location background music for Marathi film ‘Kshitij’. The shooting of this film was recently held in a village Nanaj in Jamkhed Taluka place, where the makers were shooting a devotional bhajan. So, this experiment of recording on location sound was attempted  by Resul Pookutty.

Later, speaking about this experiment in Marathi films, the award winning sound designer said, “There are many changes taking place in films during the past few years, due to technological developments. But, the changes were noticed in sound effects only during the past two years. Generally, sound effects were used in post production stage. But, in Marathi cinema, we have tried this On Location sound recording, for more perfection, to give a realistic look to the film, which you will notice in the film ‘Kshitij’. “ he said.

‘Kshitij’ is produced by Navroz Prasala & Karishma Mahadolkar and directed by Manoj kadam. The film stars Upendra Limaye, Manoj Joshi, Kanchan Jadhav, Sanjay Mone, child artiste Apurva Mandrupkar in lead roles along with other new artistes. This film will ready for release in the coming year.

‘Double Seat’ turns favourite at Zee-MFK awards

Every year Zee talkies have their separate awards function in the form of ‘Maharashtracha favourite Kon?’ with the voting open for shortlisted Marathi films and their artistes & other technical experts. This year too, there was overwhelming response from the viewers, who casted their votes, for their favourites. And, this year ‘Double Seat’ bagged maximum awards in different sections  of this Viewer’s choice awards.  The awards were presented to the winners, at an event held in Mumbai, recently.

However, the best film award went to ‘Dr.Prakash Baba Amte’  a sensible  film made on a social subject. The best direction award went to Paresh Mokashi for the film ‘Elizabeth Ekadashi’. Needless to add that Ankush Choudhary and Mukta Barve were adjudged the favourite actor and actress respectively . The favourite supporting actor and actress awards went to Vaibhav Mangale and Sai Tamhankar.  The main attraction of the event was the presence of Nana Patekar and Makarand Anaspure, who were felicitated by Zee talkies, for their efforts to help the families of poor farmers, in drought hit places in Maharashtra.  A cheque amounting to Rs. 5 Lakh was presented to their NAAM Foundation. Some entertaining programmes were also presented by popular Marathi artistes, on this occasion. Siddharth Chandekar and Vaibhav Tatwavdi anchored the show.

Telecast of this event will be shown on 20 the December 2015 at 7 pm on Zee talkies channel.

‘Partu’ promises ‘out of the box’ content

Marathi films are known for their offering variety of content. Keeping with the trend, forthcoming Marathi film ‘Partu’ also promises ‘out of the box’ content. Made under the banner of Hollywood’s ‘East West Films’ and written and directed by Nitin Adsul , an Indian settled in USA, the film has already raised lot of curiosity about its subject, which is based on a real life story.

Though the artistes of this film are from Marathi film industry and Bollywood, the technical support comes from highly qualified international technical persons. The film has been shot in Rajasthan and Maharashtra; but the cinematography and background music of this film, are expected to make a big difference. The film stars Kishore Kadam, Smita Tambe, Saurabh Gokhale, Gayatri Deshmukh, Anshuman Vichare, Navani Parihar, Raja Bundela, Ravi Bharatiya and child artiste Yash Pande , around whose character, the film revolves.

Music by Shashank Powar, background music by Hollywood’s Greg Sims, editing by Rajesh Rao and cinematography by Sanjay Khanjode are other credits.

The beautiful black lady is now in the hands of many Marathi film award winners. Only difference was that during this  Filmfare awards for Marathi films, the traditional musical instruments of Maharashtra, the Dhol -tashe , Lejhim and Tutari, were played in the background  music , to honour the award winners. So, one thing is clear that Filmfare have started recognising the strength and progress of Marathi films, during the past few years.

Several celebrities from Bollywood were also present on the occasion. Prominent among them were, Vidya Balan, Urmila Matondkar, Tabu, Athiya shetty, Varun Dhavan & Suraj Pancholi.Among the top celebrities in Marathi were Ramesh Deo, Mahesh Manjrekar, Riteish Deshmukh, Sonali Kulkarni, Mrinal Kulkarni, Mahesh Kothare & others.

Films like ‘Lai Bhari’,’ Rege’,’ Elizabeth Ekadashi’ & ‘Fandry’ shared most of the awards, while ‘ Prakash Baba Amte- The real hero’ bagged the Filmfare award for the best film, besides bagging the best actor( Nana Patekar) and Best actress( Sonali Kulkani) awards. The award for the best popular actor award  went to Riteish Deshmukh for his debut in Marathi through super hit Marathi film ‘Lai Bhari’.

The first award for Film fare Lifetime achievement, went to veteran actor Ramesh Deo, who at the age of 86 years, is still active with his acting assignments.

Five Marathi films to release together on November 27th

This week not a single Marathi or Hindi film was released; but, on coming Friday, i.e.27th November 2015 five Marathi films will be releasing together. The names of these films are ‘Dhangarwada’,Mahanayak,Shali, Shinma and Urfi. Now, taking about the genre of all these films, we find that ‘Dhangarwada’ presented by Alka Kubal Athalye and directed by her cinematographer turned director Sameer Athalye, the film presents the story on the backdrop of the shepherd community and their struggle for survival. It will be the last film of Late Sadashiv Amrapurkar, who has played an important role in this film. It is understood that Mr. Amrapurkar had taken part in film’s shooting, in spite of his ill health, to keep his commitment.

Mahanayak is a biopic on the life of Vasantrao Naik , the dynamic and most respected former chief Minister of Maharashtra. Chinmay Mandlekar plays the central character and it will be interesting to see, whether he has given justice to his role. The film is directed ny Nilesh Raosaheb Jalamkar. The third film ‘Shali’ is based on the story of late Shankar Patil and is about the happening of events in the life of a young girl. Except for few senior artistes the artistes in this film are new.

Milind kavade’s next film Shinma is also releasing coming Friday; but, the director is not worried about competition faced by his film, from other films. This film has a big star cast, but the songs of this film have already popularized, as Mr. kavade has ensured a timely message about importance of water in the lives of people living in drought affected villages.But, he has tried to pass it on, in an entertaining manner. Hindi film & TV actress Gurleen Chopra is making her debut through this film, which also stars Ajinkya Deo, Saurabh Gokhale, Sanskriti Balgude, Vijay Patkar, Kishori Shanane, Nisha Parulekar, Ganesh Acharya and others.

‘Time Pass’ fame Prathamesh Parab will have one more release coming Friday, with the name ofUrfi which is a debut film of Mitali Mayekar , who has already invited the attention of the audience, through her performance in the songs of this film, already shown on music channels. This film is directed by Vikram Pradhan, also stars Upendra Limaye, Kavita Lad & Milind Pathak.

Now, with this big competition to be noticed on coming Friday, among these five films, it remains to be seen, which film draws good crowds at theatre windows.

Mobile phones, internet and social media has made today’s new generation techno savvy.  And, their addiction to these electronic gadgets, is separating them from their parents and their love and affection. Forthcoming Marathi film ‘Bandh Nylonche’ has taken up this issue, throwing light on this rising problem, noticed in many houses. This film, directed by Jatin Wagle, is based on the one act play with the same name, written by Ambar Hadap and Ganesh Pandit. So, it will be interesting to see the cinematic version of this subject, on big screen.

The film presents an interesting theme showing how the technological advancement during next ten years has an effect on the person addicted to mobile phone and social media. Produced by Sunil Nair, the film stars many talented and versatile artistes like Mahesh Manjrekar, Medha Manjrekar, Sunil Barve, Subodh Bhave, Sanjay Narvekar,Shruti Marathe and Pranjal Parab. Music of this film is by Amitraj, while the DOP is Shirish Desai. The first poster of this film has just been released and the film will release all over Maharashtra on 29th January 2015.

‘Bho Bho’ promotion generates curiosity about the film

Forthcoming Marathi film ‘Bho Bho’ which has been selected for the forthcoming Delhi International Film festival, has cleverly promoted  the ongoing news about this film on social networking sites, after its completion.  Sumukhesh Films and director Bharat Gaikwad are happy about this initial campaign, which has invited good response from the viewers.

According to the director, this film is about ‘Bho Bho’ and Bhonde, the important character in this film and is a suspense thriller presented in a humour filled manner. Bharat, who has directed many Marathi and Hindi serials had also made a Marathi film ‘Dhava Dhav’ , few years ago. Through this film Prashant Damle is making his comeback in Marathi films, as a lead actor. Other lead performers in the film are Subodh Bhave, Sharad Ponkshe, Ashwini Ekbote, Saurabh Gokhale, Sanjay Mone, Kishore Chougule and Anuja Sathe. More details about this film are still awaited.

Chinmay impresses in the first look of ‘Mahanayak’

Whenever a biopic is made on a political personality, make up of the artiste plays a very important role. In the forthcoming Marathi film ‘Mahanayak- Vastant Tu’, which is a biopic on the life of dynamic and most respected former chief minister of Maharashtra late Vasantrao Naik, we find talented actor Chinmay Mandlekar playing his role. To perform this role, which is a political journey of this leader from the age 30+ to 60+, Chinmay needed to be in that particular get up. Now, with the stills and first look of the film out, you feel that Chinmay has fulfilled all the requirements of the film maker, be it the style of the leader or his behaviour.

Made under the banner of Baliram Rathod and presented by Aditi Film Productions, the film is directed by Nilesh Raosaheb Jalamkar. The film will highlight the journey of  a youngster from Banjara community, who rises to become the chief minister of Maharashtra. It may be recalled that Vasantaro Naik was the only chief minister of Maharashtra, who continuously held the CM’s post for 12 years and during his tenure, he saw 3 Governors of the state.

Chinmay Mandlekar has expressed his happiness, for having got an opportunity to play the role of the highly respected politician in Maharashtra. Besides Chinmay, the film stars Nisha Parulekar, Ravi Patwardhan, Bharat Ganeshpure, Jairaj Nair, Ashish Kulkarni and others in important roles.
Actress  Prajakta Mali makes a special appearance in this film. The film is all set to release on 27th November 2015.

Veteran actor Ramesh Deo to sponsor 50 shows of ‘Cindrella’ for Orphanage children

The grand old man of Marathi and Hindi cinema Mr. Ramesh Deo is still active at the age of 86. He is the only actor in the world, who is still active, performing in the films for the past 64 years. Last week , he was shooting for a film, at a college in kandivali.On Tuesday evening, he was present as the chief guest for the music release of Kiran Nakti’s forthcoming Marathi film ‘Cindrella’. One never expected him to speak for more than 3 minutes; but the evergreen actor, spoke at length, praising the efforts of the film maker, to make a film on two orphan children.

Mr. Ramesh Deo, not only entertained the invitees, with his humour filled speech; but when veteran actress Meena Naik , who is also part of this film, suggested him to come forward to finance such films, in future, the ever smiling actor, quickly responded with a fine gesture. Mr. Deo agreed to sponsor 50 shows of this film, to the children from different orphanages in Maharashtra. He was all praise for the two child artistes Rupesh Bane and Yashasvi Vengurlekar, who were present on the occasion and appreciated the perfect choice of the the director, to cast them for these roles. After watching the first look of this film, he compared the film , with the standard of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and hoped this film also to win Oscars.

The film revolves around little brother and sister, who turn orphans, after demise of their grandmother and have to face tough challenges in life. Newcomers Kiran and Gaurav have provided the music to this film, story of which is penned by Kiran Nakti along with Aditya Halbe. Produced by Abhinay Katta and Krupa Sindhu Pictures in collaboration with Shree Sankalp Film Productions, the other important artistes of this film are Yakub Syed, Janardan Parab , Mangesh Desai and ‘Chala Hawa Yeu Dya’ fame Vineet Bhonde. The film is all set to release on 4th December 2015.
