‘ASTU’ for Kerala International Film fest

Gauurikaa film’s Marathi feature film ‘ASTU’ which is co produced by Ms.Sheelaa Rao & Dr.Mohan Agashe, written by Ms.Sumitra Bhave & directed by Ms.Sumitra Bhave & Mr.Sunil Sukhtankar has been selected for screening at 18th International film festival of kerala 2013 & Indian Panorama selection for 44th International film festival of India 2013 along with other 25 feature films & 16 non feature films this year.
The music for the film is given by Saket Kanetkar & Dhananjay Kharwandikar. Sound designed by Pramod Thomas the film is edited by Mohit Takalkar. Film is receiving acclamation in festival. Soon it will be released in theatres.
Shilpa Shirodkar to produce a Marathi film

Popular Bollywood actress of 80s and 90s Shilpa Shirodkar is now into production of a Marathi film. Shilpa has launched her production company ‘Orange Tree Productions’ under the banner of which she is making her first Marathi film titled ‘Sou Shashi Deodhar’. Shilpa has already received support for her production from her husband Mr. Ranjit besides Neeta Shetty and krushna Shetty.
‘Sou Shashi Deodhar’ is scripted and directed by Amol Shetge and has a powerful star cast in the form of Ajinkya Deo, Tushar Dalvi, avinash Kharshikar and Sai Tamhankar. Suresh pai is the co-producer of this film, which began its shooting in Mumbai recently. Lyrics by Ashwini Shende, music by Tabi- Parik , cinematography by Suresh Deshmane are the other credits.
Melodious songs for a Mystery thriller ‘Anawat’

Marathi audience will get a treat of listening to two melodious songs composed earlier by Pt. Hrudaynath Mangeshkar viz. ‘Tarun Aahe Ratra Ajuni’ and ‘Ye Re Ghana, Yere Ghana’ ;through the eagerly awaited mystery thriller film ‘Anawat’ produced by P.S.J. Entertainment. The youthful producer of this film, Puja Shekhar Jyoti, resolved to present both these incomparably evergreen songs in a new form of cinematic representation again, before the audience and succeeded in fulfilling this desire. Thanks to the competent direction of renowned director Gajendra Ahire.
Having acquired a higher education of management from the Xavier’s School of Management at Jamshedpur, one of the best in India, Puja also underwent a rigorous formal education of film-making at the renowned ‘Whistling Woods Academy’ founded by distinguished Bollywood director Subhash Ghai and went about becoming the youngest producer of a Marathi feature film. Puja, who is a management graduate completed her film making education at the Subhash Ghai’s Whistling Woods Academy and has now turned a producer of this Marathi film, under her own banner ‘P.S.J. Entertainment’.
Relentless efforts have been made by her to purchase the legal rights of reproducing these two songs from H.M.V. Saregama and recomposed them in a fresh new form of music, considering the tastes of the new generation, besides retaining their old charm. After being blessed by the pious approval of Pt. Hrudaynath Mangeshkar, the original music director of these songs; Shankar Mahadevan, an able virtuoso of Pt. Hrudaynath Mangeshkar too, committed himself with boundless efforts and unmatched practice while delivering the compositions .The songs will be released soon.
Endowed with the skilful direction of the national award winning director Gajendra Ahire, this Marathi feature film ‘Anawat’, is based on the background of the then prevailing times of year 1975 in the regions of Konkan, Goa and Hyderabad. A truly ‘Period Cinema’, it is being presented by retaining the cinematic fabric of the then prevailing times in 1975.
The popular pair of Adinath Kothare and Urmila Kanetkar, has been cast in the lead roles of this film along with Makrand Anaspure, Kishor Kadam, Bhargavi Chirmule and Vibhavari Deshpande playing other important roles in the film. ‘Anawat’ is scheduled to be released in the month of November for the audience in Maharashtra to experience thrills and terrifying mystery.
Grand music launch of ‘Premacha Jholjhal’

Since last few days Marathi film ‘Premacha Jholjhal’ is creating news in Marathi as well English newspapers and news channels. English media seems to taken notice of the sensation created by Premacha Jholjhal. Premacha Jholjhal is slated to release on October 25th 2013 and its music release ceremony recently took place in a grand manner.
The music release of forthcoming Marathi film ‘Premacha Jholjhal’ took place in Mumbai on Tuesday evening, at the hands of noted actor cum director Sachin Pilgaonkar. Produced by ‘Crazy Moi production’ when well known people from the Marathi film industry such as Swapnil Joshi,Nanubhai Jaisinghnani, Kedar Shinde were present. The whole team of ‘Premacha Jholjhal’ including producer of the film Seema Upadhyay and Siddant Pilania, director Manoj Kotian,lyricist Mandar Cholkar,music director Amit Raj,singers Sudesh Bhosale and Adarsh Shinde,actors Siddharth Jadhav,Smita Gondkar and Tejasvi Patil were also present at the music launch.
There are only two songs in the film and both the songs are penned by Mandar Cholkar and the song ‘Nasha Ye Kaisa Nasha’ is sung by leading young singer Adarsh Shinde. The journey of the Popat Navare, a character played by Sidharth Jadhav has been portrayed through the song. The second song ‘Dheere Dheere Haule Haule’ is a romantic song and it has been picturized on the three couples. It has been sung by Sudesh Bhosale, Kirti Killedar and Supriya Joshi. According to the Music director Amit Raj the film is youthful and he has taken care that the audience from all age groups will like the music.
‘Premacha Jholjhal’ is a situational comedy and the story, screenplay and dialogues of the film are written by noted Marathi writer Hemant Edalabadkar. Besides the new leading pair Siddharth Jadhav and Navin Prabhakar, the other leading ladies Tejswai Patil and Smita Gondkar are also in the film. Vijay Patkar and Priya Berde are in the supporting cast. Sunil Varhadkar has done the art direction of the film and Sarvesh Parab has done editing of the film. The costume design is done by Ashish Datar and the make up is done by Manoj Wadke. The sound system of the film is handled by Anil Nikam and Pramod Mohite is the executive producer of the film.
Deeptii Ketkar declared winner of ‘Ekapeksha Ek’ dance show

Deeptii Samel ketkar has proved her versatility as a dancing actress, when she went on to win the prestigious Crown of the popular dance reality show ‘Ekapeksha Ek Apasara’ of Zee Marathi. Deepti who has done her post graduation in Bharat Natyam, has been in the Marathi entertainment industry for the past few years. Her character of Abhilasha in ongoing Maratrhi serial ‘Mala Sasu Havi’ brought her into limelight. But, this award has earned her name and fame.
There were five contestants in the final round, comprising of Prachi Cheulkar, Shruti Marathe, Sukanya kalan and Hemangi kavi, besides Deeptii Ketkar. But, Deeptii was adjudged winner, based on popular votes polled in her favour by the audience. On the final day performance, Deepti was joined by her on Screen Motrher-in-law Savita Prabhune. Mahaguru Sachin Pilgaonkar presented the trophy and cheque to the winner. The telecast of the final day ceremony will be held on Dushera day evening.
‘Vatsalya’ first look unveiled

The first look of forthcoming Marathi film ‘Vatsalya’, which is being made under the banner of ‘Red Berry Entertainment’ and directed by Dayanand Rajan, was unveiled on the occasion of Navaratri at Cinemax Versova , Andheri .The entire cast and crew of the film was present at the event.
‘Vatsalya’ is based on the tender relationship between a father and a daughter. Actor Bharat Jadhav is playing the lead role in this film. According to the director, though the actor has earlier played serious roles, this role in the film is quite different others. His character in the film has many layers. How he faces the challenges of ever changing situations and the kind of mental trauma he goes through, while facing the challenges ;was noticed in the first look.
In the film, Bharat Jadhav plays Dr Sagar, an eminent doctor in Mumbai, who goes to London for further education. In London, he meets a Maharashtrian girl with modern outlook towards life and gets married to her. When they come back to India, his traditional mother and modern wife can’t get along and their daily clashes make Sagar’s life miserable. Sagar is caught in a dilemma, whether to take his mother’s or wife’s side. On the other hand his wife Seema, who is also fed up with the daily fights with her mother-in-law, finally divorces Sagar.
Five years after the divorce, Sagar still can’t forget Seema. Tired of the city life, he starts living in a small village .He builds an orphanage in the village, named after his mother. In the orphanage he meets a small handicapped girl named Chimani. With Chimani’s sweet nature, everybody in Orphanage, especially Sagar loves and cares for her. How this little Chimani brings back joy in Sagar’s lonely life, is something you will get to watch in this film.
‘Vatsalya’ is produced by Nutan and Narsi Vasani. The story and screenplay of the film is written by Dayanand Rajan who has directed the film as well. The film stars Bharat Jadhav,Ruchita Jadhav,Priya Gamare, Vijay Chavan,Deepjyoti Naik,Bhagyashree Desai,Prashant Vichare and child artist Vaibhavi Khade. Cinematography is done by Karim Khatri. Vinayak Katkar has done the art direction of the film. Deepak Virkud and Vilas Ranade have edited the film. Prakash Rane has written the lyrics and music is composed by Shrikant Nivaskar.
‘Mangalashtaka Once More’ celebrate with music

Swapnil Joshi and Mukta Barve are all set to romance each other once again on Silver Screen as they are getting ready for ‘The Marriage of The Season’ with their upcoming movie ‘Mangalashtaka Once More’. The grand Sangeet Ceremony was held yesterday @ Hotel Westin, Goregaon,when Swapnil arrived at the venue, after purchasing the ornaments and mangalsutra for his bride Mukta, at Waman Hari Pethe’s branch at Goregaon.
Present on the occasion were prominent singers like Avadhoot Gupte, Vaishali Samant, Bela Shende, Mangesh Borgaonkar, Kirti Killedar, Lyricist Guru Thakur, Music director Nilesh Moharir to wish the lead pair. Producer Renu Desai, director Samir hemant Joshi, Mr. Nanibhai Jaisinghani of Video Palace and Kadambari Kadam were also present. While speaking on the occasion, producer Renu Desai thanked Nilesh Moharir and Guru Thakur for composing 4 wonderful songs in the melodious voices of well known singers. The songs are now available on CD released by Video Palace. However, the film will be released on 22nd November 2013.
Marathi stars to perform at the Border

After performing at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, few years ago, now the Marathi stars are all set to perform at the Border, for Maratha Battalion. Between 15 and 19th October 2013, the group comprising of Megha Ghadge, Smita tambe, Smita Shewale, Nutan Jayant, Bhargavi Chirmule, Amruta Khanvilkar, Hemangi kavi, Pooja Sawant, Siya Patil, & Neha Pendse will be at Baramulla, to give a special performance, comprising of Lavani and other dance forms on songs.
The event is being organised by Mahesh Tilekar and choreographed by Omkar Shinde. The troupe will also carry Diwali sweets for the jawans during their visit to the border.
Two new Marathi films to release on 4th Oct

Friday 4th October will witness two new Marathi films, namely ‘Lagna Pahave karun’ by director Ajay kishore Naik and ‘Ramachandra Purushottam Joshi’ by director Ajay Phansekar. With most of the theatres blocked by Bollywood film ‘Besharam’ released on Wednesday; there only one shows at each theatre available for these two films in Mumbai. The position may not be different in other parts of Maharashtra, as ‘Besharam’ has booked more than 4 thousand screens all over the world, creating a new record.
Now, talking about our two new Marathi films, it remains to be seen, whether they succeed in finding more outlets next week; as “Besharam’ has disappointed the viewers, as per the reviews published so far. ‘Lagna Pahava Karun’ has a team of youngsters, with Umesh Kamat – Mukta Barve forming one pair and Siddharth Chandekar and Tejashree Pradhan making another pair. It will be nice to see Mukta after a long time and it will be interesting to see, how her chemistry with Umesh works in this film. Tejashree is already doing well on small screen, with her serial ‘Honar Sun Mee Hya Gharchi’ turning popular. She has already worked with Siddharth in Avadhoot Gupte’s film ‘Zenda’.
On the other hand, we have Ajay Phansekar’s ‘Ramachandra Purushottam Joshi’, which is a film on return of a dead person back to his family, to spend only eight hours granted to him by Yama. The film has graphic presentation on the lines of Harry Potter films, which is something new to the Marathi films. However, the film’s release has been delayed for over 7 years, due to the worst natural calamity in 2006, that destroyed the studio of the film maker. But, in spite of facing this grave situation, the director has managed to reshoot the film and offer the same to the audience. The film is based on director’s own creation ‘Shraddha’ on stage. So, let us wait and see, which film invites the attention.
Film maker Rajiv Patil dies due to heart attack

Noted film maker and national award winning film director Rajiv Patil is no more. He passed away due to heart attack today in Mumbai. Rajiv had come into limelight at national level, when his film ‘Jogwa’ won the National award. But, recently, his film ’72 Miles’ which was the first Marathi production of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, brought him name and fame.
Having also made variety of films like ‘Oxygen’, ‘Blind Game’, ‘Savarkhed Ek gaon’, ‘Sanai Choughade’ and ‘Pangira’, he created his own identity of handling any subject with perfection. His forthcoming film ‘Vanshavel’ is all set to release shortly. His funeral will take place at Nashisk – Panchavi tomorrow morning around 9 am. MMW sincere tributes to his departed soul.
