Ashok Samarth to play Police Officer in ‘Dhamak’

Known for his dashing roles in Hindi and Marathi films, Ashok Samarth has already made his presence felt among the film audience. His character of ACP in Police investigative Marathi serial ‘Lakshya’ is also well appreciated by home viewers. Now, we will see him as a Police officer in forthcoming Marathi film ‘Dhamak’.
When director Rajendra Bandiwadekar approached him for the role of a Police officer in this film, Ashok could not say no to him; as the role was well suited to his strong physique. The screenplay and dialogues of this action film are written by director himself.
Besides Ashok Samarth, the other artistes of the film are Aniket Vishwasrao, Girija Joshi, Mohan Joshi, Viju khote, Jaywant Wadkar, Mausumi Tondwalkar, Ajay Padhye, Uma Sardeshmukh Dhananjay Mandrekar Girish Salvi and others. Meghna Naidu and Mumait Khan will be performing two dances in the film, on the choreography of Umesh Jadhav. Music of this film is by Nirmal Kumar while cinematography is by Prasad Bhende.
Kumar Sohani’s new Marathi play ‘Janmarahasya’

Dr.Anand Nadkarni & Kumar Sohani have once again come together, after a gap of seven years. This time Kumar Sohani is directing Dr.Anand Nadkarni’s script, through new Marathi play ‘Janmarahasya’. Mr. Sohani will also be managing light effects for this play, besides direction.

Umesh Kulkarni to conduct short film making workshop in Pune

Arbhaat Film will be conducting ‘Shoot a short’ a workshop on short film making, between 5th December to 8th December, 2013 at NFAI, Pune. This is the third edition of the workshop after its inception in the month of January. The second edition was conducted in Thane. Constant enquiries and the encouraging response to the first two editions have compelled them to announce the third edition in the same year.
Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni, a three time national award winning director and an acclaimed film maker will be conducting this workshop. The workshop will primarily aim at guiding film enthusiasts to make short films. The three stages of film making such as pre production, shooting and post production will be explained thoroughly. Translating an idea into a script and then to a screenplay, cast and crew management, dealing with actors are some of the core areas the workshop focuses upon. Every individual above 18 years is eligible for this workshop.
Umesh Kulkarni won his first national award for his diploma film titled ‘Girni’ (The Grinding Machine) that he made as a student of the film and television institute of India.Even after making three critically acclaimed and successful feature films like Valu (The Wild Bull), Vihir (The Well) and Deool (Temple), Umesh continues to make short films. He has directed more than ten short films till date. (Most of them have been produced by Film and Television institute of India.) ‘Three of Us’ One of Umesh’s shorts premiered at the veryprestigious Berlinale international film festival. This film also won Umesh another National award for best director. ‘Three of Us’ went on to be screened at more than 40 international film festivals. ‘Gaarud’ (The Spell) a short film he made in 2008 won the golden conch award at the Mumbai international film festival.

Shreyas announces his second Marathi film ‘Poshter Boyz’

After ‘Sanai Choughade’ Sheryas talpade is now all set to start shooting of his second Marathi film ‘Poshter Boyz’, which will be directed by Sameer Patil. For this film, Shreyas has finalised Dilip Prabhavalkar, Hrishikesh Joshi, Aniket Vishwasrao, Pooja Sawant & Neha Joshi to play important roles.
Recently, Shreyas made official announcement of his film’s launch, in presence of his mentor in Bollywood, Mr. Subhash Ghai. Lesley Luis, an overseas Music director will be composing music of this film. Shreyas himself will be part of the promotional song of this film. The film will begin its shooting shortly in Western Maharashtra and is expected to release during monsoon coming year. Story by Samir Patil, Screenplay by Samir along with Charudatt Bhagwat, dialogues by Samir himself and cinematography by Pushpank Gawade are other credits.

Heena Panchal performs item song for ‘Gammat’

Bollywood actress Heena Panchal, who has been performing stage shows with John Abraham and who will be seen in Anees Bazmi’s next film ‘Welcome back’, has performed an item number for Marathi film ‘Gammat’.
The Sangeet Rangabhoomi Lifetime Award in honour of Music mastero Annasaheb Lirloskar, will be presented to Ramdas kamat, while the Vithabai Narayangaonkar Tamasha Samradni Lifetime award will go to Prabha Shivnekar. Each one of these three recipients will be honoured with Rs. 5 lakh, Shawl, Coconut and a memento.

State announces Lifetime Achievement Award for Arun Kakade

Cultural Affairs Minister, Government of Maharashtra, Mr. Sanjay Devtale has announced the awards on behalf of the Cultural Affairs department of Maharashtra on Tuesday. The Lifetime achievement award in the name of late Prabhakar Panshikar will be presented to the newly appointed president of Marathi Natya Sammelan Mr. Arun kakade, who has worked for almost five decades for promotion of Marathi Experimental stage plays. Mr. Kakade has already received the Sangeet Natak Academy award from the President of India this year.

‘Rangakarmi’ shooting concludes

Producer Shashi Mittal and Sumit H Mittal who have produced many Hindi serials till now, have entered Marathi film production, with their debut film ‘Rangakarmi’, under their production ‘ShashiSumeet Motion Pictures Pvt.Ltd.’ Directed by Sanjeev Kolte, the film has completed its entire shooting schedule. It was a start to finish shooting schedule at different locations like Thane, Mira road, Goregaon, Sangli and some parts of Mumbai.
Presenting the relationship between a Make up artist and an actor, the film stars Mohan Joshi, Sheetal Dabholkar, Rajan Joshi, Sharmishtha Raut, Praful Samant, Devendra Dodke, Mahesh Bodas, Deepjyoti Naik, Dinesh kanade and Dr.Amol kolhe.
The script of the film is written by director Sanjeev Kolte himself, who has also penned the lyrics of the film. Music by Praveen kunwar, Cinematography by Jitendra Achrekar, Art by Trupti Tamhane & Deepak Salunkhe, Dress Design by Chaitrali Dongre and editing by Faisal Mahadik are the other credits.
‘ASTU’ for Kerala International Film fest

Gauurikaa film’s Marathi feature film ‘ASTU’ which is co produced by Ms.Sheelaa Rao & Dr.Mohan Agashe, written by Ms.Sumitra Bhave & directed by Ms.Sumitra Bhave & Mr.Sunil Sukhtankar has been selected for screening at 18th International film festival of kerala 2013 & Indian Panorama selection for 44th International film festival of India 2013 along with other 25 feature films & 16 non feature films this year.
The music for the film is given by Saket Kanetkar & Dhananjay Kharwandikar. Sound designed by Pramod Thomas the film is edited by Mohit Takalkar. Film is receiving acclamation in festival. Soon it will be released in theatres.
Shilpa Shirodkar to produce a Marathi film

Popular Bollywood actress of 80s and 90s Shilpa Shirodkar is now into production of a Marathi film. Shilpa has launched her production company ‘Orange Tree Productions’ under the banner of which she is making her first Marathi film titled ‘Sou Shashi Deodhar’. Shilpa has already received support for her production from her husband Mr. Ranjit besides Neeta Shetty and krushna Shetty.
‘Sou Shashi Deodhar’ is scripted and directed by Amol Shetge and has a powerful star cast in the form of Ajinkya Deo, Tushar Dalvi, avinash Kharshikar and Sai Tamhankar. Suresh pai is the co-producer of this film, which began its shooting in Mumbai recently. Lyrics by Ashwini Shende, music by Tabi- Parik , cinematography by Suresh Deshmane are the other credits.
