Mangalashtak Once More’ draws good crowd on opening day

It is always a pleasure to watch a good and that too elite crowd for a Marathi film, on the first day of its release. And, new Marathi film ‘Mangalashtak Once More’ has done it on the opening day. PVR Goregaon witnessed near full house for the 3.35 pm show and this is certainly a good news for Marathi film.
This also indicates the popularity of the lead pair, who are back together, after their successful pairing in ‘Mumbai Pune Mumbai’ and later in popular TV serial ‘Eka Lagnachi Doosari Goshta’. But, more important for this film to draw the audience to the theatre, was the subject of marriage and presence of Sai Tamhankar in the film. The film is also expected to draw crowds in other cities of Maharashtra. Let us wait and see, to check how the film does its business. But, certainly it has given a tough fight to other two Bollywood films, released today. Happy days for Marathi films. Isn’t it ?

Sailee Dream Ventures release first look of Maat

The first look of new Sailee Dream Ventures first Marathi film ‘Maat’ was released in a grand way at MIG Club, Mumbai on Wednesday night, in presence of entire team of the film, media and special invitees. Beginning Behind schedule by an hour, the function began with the introduction of each and every team member behind curtain, which included Music director Dr. Salil Kulkarni, Background Music director Aamir Hadkar, Art director Santosh Phutane, Sound designer Pramod Purandare , story writer Tejaswini Dinesh Pandit, Screenplay- dialogue writer Sambhaji Sawant, PRO Ram Kondilkar and many others. Cinematographer Nirmal Jaani, was absent due to his personal commitment.
Then it was the turn of Producer Couple Mangesh Sawant & Manali Sawant to welcome the director Manohar Sarwankar, followed by lead pair Eesha Koppikar & Samir Dharmadhikari along with child artiste Tehashree Walavalkar, who is playing an important role in this film. Mr. N. Chandra, who was the special guest, wished the team a grand success. But, Mr. Pradeep kabre and writer Anil kalelkar , who were also special guests on the occasion and who had seen the trial show, praised the film for its high production quality. Besides the story, they also appreciated the performances of lead pair Eesha ,Sameer and the child artiste Tejashree. Guest Makarand Deshpande who arrived late, also spoke on the occasion.
‘Maat’ is based on the original novel ‘Setu’ written by Tejaswini Dinesh Pandit about Ajay, who is a renowned world famous architect and a beautiful model, aspiring to become a beauty queen. After falling in love, both get married and soon turn parents of a little princess. Then begins the real conflict, which the film’s story presents in a cinematic form, with the help of good music, excellent production quality and special effects. The first look of this film, presented on the occasion, made it very clear. A huge cake was cut by the team, to celebrate the occasion.
While director Manohar Sarwankar calls this film a complete film in all respect, Ms. Manali Sawant, the producer said that they have not offered entertainment just to make you laugh; but have offered entertainment through a complete thought process. In short, the makers are banking on the story, performances and high production quality maintained by the film. The other artistes of the film comprise of Suhas Palshikar, Meghna Vaidya, Manjusha Godse, Rajendra Shirsatkar, Rajan Joshi, & Suruchi Adarkar.
Vishakha Kashalkar to speak 35 languages in her debut film ‘Rajbhasha’

New Marathi film ‘Rajbhasha‘ which is being produced by Rishikesh Vilas patil and directed by Dnyaneshwar Margajj has a unique feature. The leading lady of this film Vishakha Kashalkar , who is making her debut in Marathi films, will be playing the character of Radha, who has been born and brought up in the slums. This girl can speak 35 different languages. The director has cleverly used this character speaking the mixture of languages, to create humour; while she communicates with different people in the film.
Prior to this film, Vishakha had played a child artiste, in TV serial ‘Nok Jhok’. But, playing the character of Radha in this film, is more challenging debut for her. The film’s music is composed by Kaushal Inamdar and his popular song ‘Labhale Aamhas bhagya..’ is part of this film. Popular Marathi actor Sandeep Kulkarni plays lead hero of this film, in the company of other well known artistes like Kishore kadam and Sulbha Deshpande.
New film ‘Tendulkar Out’ to coincide with Sachin’s 200th test

Aptly titled ‘Tendulkar Out’, this new Marathi film almost coincides with 200th farewell test match of Sachin Tendulkar. The film has already generated a lot of interest for its unique title; and it remains to be seen how the audience will respond to this film.
The film is certainly not the story of Sachin Tendulkar; but, revolves around the character of Sunil Tendulkar, who is dreaming Sachin to be born in his family. It is an incident in the life of this person involving a trio comprising of Nair, Lefty and Abbas, who have been contracted to kill Tendulkar.
According to director Swapnil Jaykar, it is all together a different gripping script penned by ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’ fame Yogesh Vinayak Joshi and stars Sayaji Shinde, Sai Tamhankar, Santosh Juvekar,Aniket Vishwasrao, Vijay Maurya, Atul Parchure,Neelam Shirke & Teddy Maurya. Presented by Zee talkies, the film is all set to release on Friday 15th November 2013.
‘Ashi hi Dharmakanya’ on Sahyadri Channel

Doordarshan’s Sahyadri channel has offered many talented Marathi artistes in the past, through serials on social issues. Now, Sahyadri channel is back with new subjects with social issues. Focus India is presenting one such serial Ashi Hi Dharmakanya from 14th November, every Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 4.10 pm on Sahyadri channel,which is directed by Tanaji Ghadge.
Screenplay and dialogues by Sanjiv Kolte and technical direction by Gautam Koli this serial has good combination of experienced and new artistes like Uday Salvi, Mohan Khambete, Shruti Patkar, Abhilasha Patil, Shahaji kale, Asha Dnyate, Sachin Bhoir, Aakansha Gade, Sachin Deshpande and Shilpa Sane.
Ashok Samarth to play Police Officer in ‘Dhamak’

Known for his dashing roles in Hindi and Marathi films, Ashok Samarth has already made his presence felt among the film audience. His character of ACP in Police investigative Marathi serial ‘Lakshya’ is also well appreciated by home viewers. Now, we will see him as a Police officer in forthcoming Marathi film ‘Dhamak’.
When director Rajendra Bandiwadekar approached him for the role of a Police officer in this film, Ashok could not say no to him; as the role was well suited to his strong physique. The screenplay and dialogues of this action film are written by director himself.
Besides Ashok Samarth, the other artistes of the film are Aniket Vishwasrao, Girija Joshi, Mohan Joshi, Viju khote, Jaywant Wadkar, Mausumi Tondwalkar, Ajay Padhye, Uma Sardeshmukh Dhananjay Mandrekar Girish Salvi and others. Meghna Naidu and Mumait Khan will be performing two dances in the film, on the choreography of Umesh Jadhav. Music of this film is by Nirmal Kumar while cinematography is by Prasad Bhende.
Kumar Sohani’s new Marathi play ‘Janmarahasya’

Dr.Anand Nadkarni & Kumar Sohani have once again come together, after a gap of seven years. This time Kumar Sohani is directing Dr.Anand Nadkarni’s script, through new Marathi play ‘Janmarahasya’. Mr. Sohani will also be managing light effects for this play, besides direction.
Produced by Shree Samarth productions, the play stars versatile stage artistes like Ila Bhate, Ameeta Khopkar, Vasudha Deshpande, Rahukl Kulkarni & Gururaj Avdhani. Produced by Sharad bagwe and Music by Ashok Patki are other credits.
Umesh Kulkarni to conduct short film making workshop in Pune

Arbhaat Film will be conducting ‘Shoot a short’ a workshop on short film making, between 5th December to 8th December, 2013 at NFAI, Pune. This is the third edition of the workshop after its inception in the month of January. The second edition was conducted in Thane. Constant enquiries and the encouraging response to the first two editions have compelled them to announce the third edition in the same year.
Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni, a three time national award winning director and an acclaimed film maker will be conducting this workshop. The workshop will primarily aim at guiding film enthusiasts to make short films. The three stages of film making such as pre production, shooting and post production will be explained thoroughly. Translating an idea into a script and then to a screenplay, cast and crew management, dealing with actors are some of the core areas the workshop focuses upon. Every individual above 18 years is eligible for this workshop.
Umesh Kulkarni won his first national award for his diploma film titled ‘Girni’ (The Grinding Machine) that he made as a student of the film and television institute of India.Even after making three critically acclaimed and successful feature films like Valu (The Wild Bull), Vihir (The Well) and Deool (Temple), Umesh continues to make short films. He has directed more than ten short films till date. (Most of them have been produced by Film and Television institute of India.) ‘Three of Us’ One of Umesh’s shorts premiered at the veryprestigious Berlinale international film festival. This film also won Umesh another National award for best director. ‘Three of Us’ went on to be screened at more than 40 international film festivals. ‘Gaarud’ (The Spell) a short film he made in 2008 won the golden conch award at the Mumbai international film festival.

After ‘Sanai Choughade’ Sheryas talpade is now all set to start shooting of his second Marathi film ‘Poshter Boyz’, which will be directed by Sameer Patil. For this film, Shreyas has finalised Dilip Prabhavalkar, Hrishikesh Joshi, Aniket Vishwasrao, Pooja Sawant & Neha Joshi to play important roles.
Recently, Shreyas made official announcement of his film’s launch, in presence of his mentor in Bollywood, Mr. Subhash Ghai. Lesley Luis, an overseas Music director will be composing music of this film. Shreyas himself will be part of the promotional song of this film. The film will begin its shooting shortly in Western Maharashtra and is expected to release during monsoon coming year. Story by Samir Patil, Screenplay by Samir along with Charudatt Bhagwat, dialogues by Samir himself and cinematography by Pushpank Gawade are other credits.
