3 Marathi films to be released on Feb 4th

 

Rajeshwari A new Marathi comedy film titled ‘Dhavadhav’ is being released on 4th Februry 2011. Director Bharat Gaekwad gets ready with the pair of Bharat Jadhav and Shashank Udapurkar. The film’s story, screenplay and dialogues are written by Shashank Udapurkar. Bharat Jadhav has a very special role for himself while the other star cast of the film comprises of Mohan Joshi, Smita Jaykar, Anand Abhyankar, Uday Sabnis, Jayant Wadkar, Arun kadam, Jairaj Nair, Rutuja Patil and Vilas Ujawane.

‘Dhavadhav’ has tried to present ‘Gabbar’, who now lives in a big palace and moves in a Mercedez. The film also presents Jai living a simple life with his mother in Ramtek, while Veeru living an exactly opposite happy go lucky lifestyle

Music director Nandu Honap has composed the music of this film, on the lyrics of Praveen Dawane.

Now, coming to realistic cinema, the topic of child molestation is already a topic of discussion. ‘Aarambh’ a new Marathi film also to be released on 4th February, narrates the implications arising out of this issue. the film tells the story of a married couple and their daughter. Rajeshwari Sachdev and Atul abhyankar play the couple while Rucha Date plays their daughter. Shrinivas bhange has written the script of this film based on a true story.

The third Marathi film also due for release on 4th February, is Dilip kalyani’s ‘Durgaa Mhantyat Mala’ a woman oriented film, directed by Raju Parsekar. The film stars Milind Gawali, Deepali Syed, Sakshi (The wonder girl) , Kuldeep Pawar, Surekha Kudchi, Swapnil Rajshekhar, Hemangi Rao, Sanjay Khapre & Usha Naik. Music by – Pravin Kuwar and lyrics by – Mandar Cholkar are other credits. The film’s Catch line does warn all not to test the power of a woman.

Two more awards for ‘Mala Aai Vhaychay’.

Writer-Producer-director Samrruddhi Porey’s film ‘Mala aai Vhaychay’ (I want to be a Mother) is very much in the news before its official release on 11th February 2011. Having bagged 7 awards so far at international festivals, the film has won two more awards at the recently concluded Jaipur film festival.

While Ms. Samrruddhi Porey was adjudged the best director for this film, the American actress Stacy Bee, who plays a Model in this film has bagged the best debut award. This film is the first American-Indian Marathi film.

Music launch of ‘Pakada Pakadi’.

Music launch of new Marathi film ‘Pakada Pakadi’ was held in Hotel Juhu Plaza, Mumbai with a big fanfare on 31st January 2011. Made under the banner of Venture Motion Pictures, this film is directed by Sandeep Manohar Navare, who has also written the story of this film. With screenplay and dialogues by Hemant Edalabadkar, the lyrics are provided by Praveen Dawane. The film’s music has been composed by the trio comprising of Sandeep- Sachin and Shailesh.

Producers Harish Kumar and M. Krisshnatray first felicitated two senior artistes of the film, namely Ashok Saraf and Ravindra Berde , then director- Sandeep Navare and finally theMusic directors and singer Bela Sulakhe, who were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the director said that the producers were making all efforts to market the film well, which is scheduled for release on 11th February 2011. Mr. Ashok Saraf, while speaking about the film, revealed that he was playing a double role in this film.

The film has total five songs which are in the voices of a big team of popular singers like Suresh Wadkar, Vaishali Samant, Anand Shinde, Kunal Ganjawala, Sadhana Sargam, Shaan and Bela Sulakhe. The film also has a big star cast comprising of Ashok saraf, Prasad oak, Tejaswini Pandit, Saie Ranade, Vijay Chavan, Ravindra Berde, Kishori Ambiye, Ashalata Wabgaonkar, Asit Redyz, Vikas Samudre, Ganesh Revdekar, Santosh Sarode and Kishore Nandalskar.

Ashok Mehta cuts Negative of ‘Bokad’

Eminent cinematographer Ashok Mehta cut the negative recently for producer Anil Dev and director Pravin Raja Karale’s ‘Bokad’ at Film Labs, Goregaon. Present on the occasion were co-producer Manu Sawant, Lab in-charge Uday Nirgudkar and others. The film boasts of having total 24 songs for the first time in a Marathi film. The title ‘Bokad’ is a metaphor of what is perceived on seeing a ‘goat’ by people and the story is narrated through the songs.

The film has music by Avdhoot Gupte and lyrics by Ashok Bagwe. The cinematography is by Manu Sawant and the film stars Sayaji Shinde, Kishor Kadam,Vinay Apte, Amey Wagh,Sharad Ponkshe,Hemangi Rao,and 20 collegians, especially selected for the film. The film is set for an early release.

New Marathi film with a Unique theme

At a time when we are all talking about absence of good quality scripts in Marathi cinema, here comes a film with a sensational subject, based on a real life incident. Advocate Samrruddhi Porey comes forward to offer something new to this world, with a happening that created deep impact on her mind.

A practicing advocate at Mumbai High Court, Samrrudddhi had come across this unique case, where she saw legal implications arising out of Surrogate mother’s issues. She decided to make a film on such an issue, which was new to the world. And, she has finally done it.

”Mala Aai Vhaychay’ ( I want to be a Mother) is the title of her film, which is produced and directed by herself. She has also written the script and lyrics of the film. Using the combination of Indian and foreign artistes and choosing a perfect location in Maharshtra, she has only tried to give a realistic look to this cinematic presentation. The film has already won awards abroad and is all set to release on 11th February 2011 all over Maharashtra.
The film stars Urmila Kanetkar, Stacy Bee, Sulbha Deshpande, Vivek Raut, Matt Ridder, Suchitra Bandekar and Samrruddhi Porey herself in the main cast, while the American wonder boy Aiden Barkley plays the Varhadi speaking kid in this film. Music by Ashok Patki and photography by Rahul Jadhav are other credits.

‘Nakshatranche Dene’ – a real tribute to Panditji

After passing away of the Music legend Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, it’s now time to pay tributes to him. It may be recalled that in the past Zee Marathi through their porgramme ‘Nakshatranche Dene’ had complimented Panditji, when his disciples and associates together presented a wonderful show.

The same programme will be telecast once again in the form of tributes to the legendary singer on 30th January 2011, at 9.30 pm on Zee Marathi channel.

Marathi short film festival ends with happy note

The first Marathi short film festival concluded with a happy note at Ravindra Natya Mandir, Mumbai. Young film makers had a good opportunity to display their creative work through various subjects to invite the attention of the world.

The best short film’s award went to Vikrant Pawar’s sensible film ‘Ghadyalancha Davakhana’. Suresh Joshi (Fresh Suicide) was adjudged the best actor, while little Sharvi Kulkarni bagged the best actress award for her performance in ‘Aaji’. Young director Piyush Thakkar was declared the best director for his film ‘Khara karodpati’.

Some of the award winning short films like Kedar jape’s ‘Bangadya’ and Reema amrapurkar’s ‘Janani’ were also shown during the festival. Wellknown personalities from Marathi industry like Atul Kukarni, Sandeep Kulkarni, Sanjay Pawar, Vidyadhar Pathare and Prabhakar Nikalankar were present on the occasion to encourage young film makers.

Manyaa: The Wonder Boy’ to appear on 28th January

Manyaa-The Wonder Boy’- the first ever complete sports film in Marathi is all set to be released on 28th January 2011. Directed by Sangramsinh Gaikwad, the film presents an emotional saga of a boy from rural Maharashtra, who dreams to represent India in the Olympics. The movie stars Amitriyaan, Rajesh Shringarpure, Madhavi Juvekar and Mayuri Wagh.

Amitriyaan, is the lead actor of the movie, while Rajesh Shringarpure plays coach to Amitriyaan in the movie. As an actor, Amitriyaan has worked with big names like Sangeeth Sivan, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Naseeruddin Shah, Mira Nair and Dibankar Banerjee.

Manyaa’s director, Sangramsinh Gaikwad has assisted Sangeeth Sivan in the past and made a movie named ‘Jagor’. Says Sangramsinh Gaikwad, “Amitriyaan, Rajesh and Rishi have given excellent performances in the movie. We are planning to dub the movie in Hindi for a wider audience and based on initial response, a Hindi remake is also on the cards.”

The film is produced by Artha Motion Pictures and written by Harish Nayar. Manyaa was extensively shot in Kankauli, Sindudurg district of Konkan and at Balewadi Sports Complex, Pune. The film has been shot on Red Digital Film camera.

Marathi Paaul Padte Pudhe…’- new reality show

After completing auditions in 6 different cities across Maharashtra, final 56 artists have finally made their way to the platform of ‘Marathi Paaul Padte Pudhe’. In selection process, some extraordinary, breath taking performances were witnessed by the selectors.

Known for its art & culture, Maharashtra has many original talents hidden in every corner of the state. After bringing different forms of talents in singing, dancing & stand-up comedy through its popular shows Idea Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Ekapeksha Ek, Hasya Samrat etc. now ‘Marathi Paaul Padte Pudhe’ is one more gift coming from Zee Marathi.

Nitin Desai, the highly acclaimed art director from Bollywood, is the producer of this reality show, show is conceptualised by Zee Marathi. Jitendra Joshi will be the anchor for this show and for the first time, while glamorous model & actress Mugdha Godse along with versatile actor Makarand Deshpande will play the role of judges.

Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi passes away

Legendary vocalist Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, who mesmerized music lovers with his extraordinary presentation of Hindustani classical music, passed away at Sahyadri hospital in Pune today morning after a prolonged illness.

He was 89. A recipient of Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award, Joshi had been put on life support system since past one month. The most-celebrated exponent of ‘Kirana gharana’ his guru was Sawai Gandharva, in whose memory he had started the popular gandharva festival. Born on February 4, 1922 at Gadag in Dharwad district of Karnataka, Joshi got his first break for a live performance at the age of 19, during the 60th birthday celebrations of his guru Sawai Gandharva. His first album was released by HMW, when he was 22 years old.

Besides classical music, Panditji lent is voice as a “dhrupad” singer for a Bengali film based on the life of Tansen and later was a playback singer for Marathi film “Gulacha Ganapati”, produced and directed by celebrated Marathi humorist “Pu La” Deshpande. He had also rendered his voice in Hindi movies like “Basant Bahar” and “Bhairavi”.

But it was his ‘Abhang Vani’ and ‘Bhakti Sangeet’ that gained him popularity more. How can we forget his ‘Majhe Maher Pandhari’ and Ramya hi Swargahun Lanka’ ? Besides Bharat ratna in 2008, he was also honoured with Padmashri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan in addition to Sangeet Natak academy award and Tansen Puraskar. He leaves behind three sons and a daughter. He will be cremated at Vaikunth, Pune around 3 pm today.
