Three new Marathi films getting ready for release
True-vision Teleflms and producers Sameer Gupte and Mahendra Waghmare production’s ‘Batti Gul Powerful’ is a hilarious comedy with comedy star Makarand Anaspure in the lead. The film deals with the serious problem of ‘load-shedding’ in a lighthearted way. Kisha(Makarand Anaspure) is a failed technical student, who runs an appliance repair shop in his village. One day he chances upon a machine which is very powerful and has the ability to detect if a person is speaking the truth or otherwise.
Kishya uses the machine to hoodwink the innocent villagers into believing that he can solve any humanitarian problems and from thereon he solves the problem of a colossal nature facing the country. The film also stars dancing star Jyoti Joshi, Bhushan Kadu, Prakash Dhotre, Sheetal Shukl, etc. The film is directed by Mahesh Deshpande and the story-screenplay-dialogues are by Dr.Anand Deshpande.
The music is by Rohit Nagbhide on the lyrics of Dr.Yashwant Patil and songs are sung by Vaishali Samant, Anand Shinde and others. The film releases soon, all over Maharashtra.
Another film ‘Ek Shodh’(The Search), which is also due for release in February, all over Maharashtra, is a Suspense Thriller. In fact, Detective suspense thrillers are a rarity in Marathi films. But now debutant director Drona Lendhre and producer Arvind Lendhre’s suspense film ‘Ek Shodh(The Search) are offering this so called thriller.
The film is about a grieving widow of a rich man, who dies mysteriously. This widow, who is also his second wife, hires a detective, to solve the mystery behind her husband’s death. Various characters then loom on the scene, making the mystery more deeper and darker; finally, leading to a shocking revelation in the climax of the film. The film stars Milind Gunaji, Pradeep Patwardhan, Kishore Nandlaskar, Ravi Patwardhan,Deepa Chaphekar, Dr. Vilas Kulkarni, and Anita Chatwal.
The music is by Dr.Vilas Kulkarni and lyrics by Chandrakant Jadhav. The songs are sung by Vaishali Samant, Sudesh Bhosle, and Devaki Pandit.. Krishna Shelar is the executive producer.
Another multi-starer film ‘Ek 7 Free’,which was launched few months ago, has completed its shooting and is at dubbing stage. Produced by Suhas Naik and directed by Sanjay Krishnaji Jadhav, this film is a fantasy and will be released soon. The big star-cast of the film comprises of Sanjay Narvekar,Nirmiti Sawant, Resham Tipnis, Deepali Sayyed, Vijay Chavan, Pushkar Shrotri, Rajashri Landge, Usha jadhav, Kishori Ambiye and Madhavi Juvekar.
Based on the story written by diector himself, the cinematography of the film is done by Girish Udale, while Music is provided by Shashank Powar.
Music Launce of Three New Marathi albums
Mangesh Borgaonkar turns Rock Star with new album
Four years ago, when he was only 16, he became a champion at the SaReGaMa competition on TV. Today, Mangesh Borgaonkar having completed his teen age, is ready with his own music album ‘ Deewana Jhalo Tujha’. The CD of this music album was released on 9th February 2010 at Shivaji Mandir , Dadar at the hands of renowned photographer Gautam Rajdhyaksha. Also present on the occasion to greet Mangesh were popular actor Bharat Jadhav and veteran music director Ashok Patki.
This new music album containing six Marathi songs and 2 Hindi songs on the rocking music of Ashok Patki is marketed by Universal Music Group. On this occasion, few songs from the video CD were shown to the audience on projection system. Mangesh himself rendered few popular songs from his SaReGaMa programme and from his CD, much to the delight of the audience who responded spontaneously. Mr. Madan Gupte and Rajan Prabhu from Universal Group were also felicitated on the occasion besides other guests like Music director Ashok Patki, Mr. Prabhulkar, who directed the video and all the lyricists who penned the songs. Deepti played the programme host.
‘Arpan’ an offering from Bela to Dr. Shende
Fountain music recently released their new music album ‘Arpan’ at the hands of popular film-stage-TV star Prashant Damle . ‘Arpan’ is a collection of Devotional songs rendered by Bela Shende and composed by Dr. Shende. The occasion being 6oth birthday celebrations of Dr. Shende, who was felicitated by Sakal editor Sureshchandra Padhye. Mr. kantibhai Oswal of Fountain Music was also present on the occasion.
‘Music launch of ‘Kartavya’ and ‘Ranga Ringa’
While the music of Vakratund Movie Creations and Producer Kishor Desai’s ‘Kartavya’ was released at the hands of political and film celebrity Sangeeta Sachin Ahir at the Ravindra Natya Mandir, that of ‘Ringa Ringa’ was released in Kohinoor Hotel at the hands of popular actor- director Sachin Pilgaonkar recently.
At both the functions, artistes and crew members of the film were present. Music of ‘Kartavya’ is by Nandu Honap while that of ‘Ringa Ringa’ is by popular duo Ajay-Atul. Both the films are due for release shortly.
New collection of poems ‘Kavyaprabha’ released
Vidharbha region has offered many renowned poets in the past. Now, with the release of fresh collection of poems by Prabha Nipane, has added one more name to the list of creative people who have communicated very strongly with the people through their hard hitting lyrics. ‘Kavyaprabha’ is the title of collection of poems penned by Prabha Nipane, which was released at Acharya Atre Rangmandir, kalyan; in presence of celebrities and other guests. Prof. Visubhau Bapat, who was the chief guest and released the collection; specially mentioned about the sincerity of the poet in highlighting the social issues through her poems.
Prabha Nipane has touched upon the sensitive issues in society, like the plight of a farmer, the difficulties children face in their studies and even about the situation arising after 26/11 type of terrorist attack. During this ceremony, well- known singers Mandar Soman and Swarda Soman presented her poems before the audience. Actress Vandana Vaknis presented the show on the concept of Dhanashri Nanivadekar and Samir Limaye. Popular TV and film artistes Neelam Shirke and Rutuja Deshmukh were present besides other dignitaries.
‘Zenda’ team leads Anti Piracy Tirade !
Avdhoot Gupte’s controversial film ‘Zenda’ finally made it to the theatres and received a good response from the viewers. But, the pirated Dvd’s and Vcd’s hit the streets within one week of film’s release and this prompted Mr. Gupte to take cudgels against these pirates and with the support of the entire Marathi industry, he staged an agitation at the Bharatmata cinema on Wednesday at 1.30 pm.
Popular Stars like Bharat Jadhav, Prasad Oak, Santosh Juvekar, Chinmay Mandlekar, Aniket Vishwasrao, Sushant Shelar, and directors like Kanchan Adhikari, Rajeev Patil, and other dignitaries like singer-music director Ajit Parab and producer distributor Nanubai Jaisingani were present.
The president of the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Maha Mandal Ajay Sarpotdar speaking on the occasion said, “Though the Marathi cinema is having a good run recently, the revenues are hit heavily by piracy and it should be curbed by everyone and the makers of ‘Zhenda’ should be commended for taking the lead against piracy.” He thanked everyone for being physically present.
Mr. Gupte, while speaking on his anti-piracy stance said, “Though there are laws against piracy, they are not implemented even after registering proper complaints and we lose lakhs of rupees due to this piracy”.

Marathi Movie stars add flavour to ‘Mahakhadhya Jatra’
All roads led to Shiv Samartha Ground, Thane on 3oth and 31st January 2010, as popular Marathi movie and TV serial stars showed their physical presence at the ‘Mahakhadhyay Jatra’ organized by Mee Marathi channel’s popular Kitchen recipe programme ‘Lajjatdar’. When MMW representative paid a visit to this event on 31st evening, he witnessed a variety of recipes offered by over 60 food stalls at the venue. The presence of popular marathi stars only added special flavour to this biggest ever food fair in this growing township of Maharashtra.
There were exhibits of variety of farm fresh fruits and vegetables but the mouth watering recipes offered in veg and non-veg invited the attention of food loving people. There were entertainment programmes and sports events on the spot, to entertain the visitors. What surprised everyone when popular stage/TV and film actor Vinay Apte was spotted selling the coupons at the cash counter with keen interest. It was really a fine gesture on his part to promote such an event. Atul Parchure was busy interviewing the special guests selected by the hosts. He too was comfortable. But, the star attraction of the event was Sai Ranade, popular TV artiste, who also plays celebrity host for the popular ‘Lajjatdar’ kitchen recipe show on Mee Marathi channel. Sai , was in-charge of presenting the variety entertainment programme and she did her job very well.
The event was a big success, especially with the presence of many other popular stars from Marathi entertainment industry. The event concluded with announcement of prizes to the best recipes.
Shakti Kapoor makes his debut in Marathi film
Popular bollywood villain & comedian Shakti Kapoor is all set to make his Marathi debut through a Marathi film ‘Bayko Jhali Gayab’, playing a pivotal role of a terrorist .
Shakti plays a dreaded terrorist Masood Khan who wants to destroy Mumbai in a 26/11 like situation . Popular theatre and TV actor Vijay Patwardhan also makes his debut in a leading role opposite veteran star Varsha Usgaonkar in the main role. Shakti Kapoor confesses that he is a true ‘Mumbaikar’ as he is the son-in-law of reputed Kolhapure family and thanks Mumbai for giving him name and fame.
Shakti has admitted that he can’t speak fluently in Marathi but his children speak only in Marathi. Shakti has spoken a few Marathi dialogues in the film but in the film he has most of his dialogues in Hindi.
The film is produced by veteran producer Vijay L Shinde under the banner Om Chintamani Films and promises a good action packed comedy thriller. The film is directed by duo Gyan Narsinghani and Kisan Bengale.
The music of this film is by Ashok Waingankar and lyrics by Dr. Srikant Narule. The supporting cast comprises of Vijay Chavan, Kishori Ambiye, Chetan Dalvi, with stars Bharat Jadhav and Surekha Kudchi in a guest appearance.

IBN Lokmat raises voice over the death of RTI activist
Marathi News channels have been doing a commendable job to fight injustice in the society, by raising many issues inviting the attention of people and the Government. The gruesome murder during broad daylight of an RTI activist and social worker-Satish Shetty , who worked for public interest; had sent shock waves among people. But, it was only due to exposing the poor investigation by the Police and expressing possibility of a political hand behind the murder, the IBN- Lokmat channel brought so many things to the notice of general public. With the pressure mounting on Police and Government, now even the opposition party leader has demanded CBI investigation into the case. Today, it is only the media, which can come to the rescue of common man, when the law and order situations worsens in the state.
To support the debate over this issue, the channel not only invited the views of eminent social activist Anna Hazare and the RTI commissioner Mr. Gandhi live but also invited to their studio a young RTI activist from Mumbai Mr. Awasthi , who was involved in exposing the developer and minister nexus over misuse of World bank aid. The youngster disclosed that for seeking RTI support, he was falsely implicated in a bogus case and was sent to Police lock up, where he was threatened by the goons of a Developer. Indeed, Land mafia have raised their ugly head, with the support of few politicians and Policemen. It was a fine gesture on the part of IBN-Lokmat Editor Nikhil Wagle, to present the story of this young activist and openly offering him all support from his media house in future. We need many more such programmes and exposures to combat such heinous acts.
‘Harischandrachi Factory’ all set for a Grand release
Exactly 98 years ago Dhundiraj Phalke alias Dadasaheb Phalke laid down the foundation of Indian film industry by producing a film titled ‘Raja Harischandra’ . Today, we see a marathi film with the name of ‘Harischandrachi Factory’ recalling those memorable moments in the life of this legendary character of Indian film industry. Mr. Paresh Mokashi who ventured into making this film ‘Harischandrachi Factory’ has already received a big honour, when this film was selected as India’s entry for Oscars. Though this film hasn’t been short listed for nomination, it has certainly raised a lot of curiosity among the film lovers, as making of this film itself is a biggest tribute to the person who started film making business in India.
‘Harischandrachi Factory’ is now all set for a grand release in India on the 29th January 2010, with UTV Motion Pictures having taken the responsibility for its release as co-producers. The film is a fascinating show of how Mr. Dadasaheb Phalke in the year 1913, successfully produced this first feature film of India, The story of this film begins right from the moment when Dadasaheb made up his mind to make a full length feature film.
The film also shows certain important sequences where Dadasaheb goes to England to do some post production work for his film. There are scenes, where he is welcomed by big production houses there, with arequest to make films for them, after watching his work. But, Dadasaheb returns to India, as he has a mission in his life, i.e. to set up a film industry for the Indian people.
‘Harischandrachi factory’ presents a ‘made for each other’- Phalke couple, played by Nandu Madhav and Vibhavari Despande, who have done their best to play their respective roles filled with hardships . The entire film has been shot on the backdrop of pre-independence days, showing the old chawl in Girgaon and a bungalow in Dadar, where Mr. Phalke lived.
The film becomes more impressive with perfect designing of costumes in accordance with the century old lifestyle created by team of Mrudul Patwardhan, Mahesh Sherla and Geeta Godbole. Other credits go to wonderful Art work by Nitin Desai, make up by Geeta Godbole, Sound by Pramod Purandare, editing by Amit Pawar and music arranged by Narendra Bhide. Certainly, ‘Harischandrachi Factory’ is a biggest tribute to a person who was the pioneer of today’s multi-crore film industry in India.
‘Shubham Karoti’ soon on Zee Marathi
After the success of ‘Kunku’ & ‘Anubandh’, Zee Marathi channel is now coming up with more family social titled ‘Shubham karoti’. This is a tale of a joint family headed by 75 year old Keshav Mahajan. The three generations of the family happily living together suddenly receive a setback, due to ego problems and there are three separate kitchens in the house.
However, Keshav Mahajan, who is a disturbed with this situation, finds support coming from his sensible grand daughter Kimaya, to reunite the family. Both of them plan together certain things, which ultimately brings the entire family together.
Priya Bapat( ‘Adhuri Ek Kahani’ fame) plays the important character of Kimaya, while arun Nalawade plays the grandpa. The serial begins on Zee Marathi from 1st February 2010 and will be shown at 9pm daily from Monday to Saturday. ‘Shubham Karoti’ is produced by Preshit Joshi and Sangeet Kulkarni and directed by Sangeet Kulkarni. With screenplay by Jyotisagar, the other artistes of this serial are : Rajan Bhise, Anand Abhyankar , Kushal Badrike, Atul Parchure, Radhika Harshe, Sujata Joshi, Omkar Karve, Advait Dadarkar & Vidya karanjikar.
