Ashok Samarth to present Bharud in ‘Viti Dandu’
Bharud is a folk art form, next to Laavni, in Maharashtra, especially in rural areas. In this form, the ‘Bharudi’ (compare) presents, with humorous narration, a story which is enjoyable as well as educative. Many saints, social workers, have with the help of Bharud, successfully made positive changes in the lives of common people. A special mention may be made about our freedom fighters, who educated the people to revolt against the Britishers.
One such effort is being made in an upcoming Marathi movie ‘Viti Dandu‘, produced by Leena Devre under the banner of Rajradha Movies, presented by Ajay Devgn films and directed by Ganesh Kadam. Famous for his roles in Hindi films like ‘Ek Chaalis ki Last Local‘, ‘Singham, actor Ashok Samarth will be presenting ‘Bharud’ in this film, dressed up as a lady. He is believed to be happy to get this opportunity to be associated with this folk art form and is of the opinion that today’s younger generation is unaware of this folk form, who will get enlightened about it, through this film ‘Viti Dandu‘.
