Chitrabhooshan award for Sachin Pilgaonkar & Uma Bhende
Veteran Marathi film personalities Sachin Pilgaonkar and Uma Bhende will be conferred with the prestigious ‘Chitrabhooshan’ award next month in Pune. The awards were announced by Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal. Sachin who has completed 50 years in Marathi films, ever since his debut as a child artiste in the film ‘Ha Majha Marg Ekala’ deserved the award for his contribution. While, for Uma Bhende, who acted in about 100 films and produced few Marathi films, the felicitation is better late than never.
It may be recalled that Marathi Movie World only few months ago had interviewed Uma Bhende, wherein we had raised this issue about the actress not being considered for any prestigious life time awards, when her juniors received the same before her. Uma Bhende was last seen in ‘Aai Thor Tujhe Upkaar’, which was released in 2001, which was her own home production. Her film ‘Madhuchandra’ with Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar was a hit and is still fresh in the memory of many marathi film lovers. Besides performing, Uma Bhende has given scope to many newcomers through her own productions in late 80s and 90s.
Akhil Bharatiya Chitrapat Mahamandal will also felicitate 13 technical artistes from Marathi films, who have done a commendable job behind the screen. They will receive the Rangakarmi awards.
