Writer-director Machhindra More has given a serious look at the most burning issue in our state and that is suicides by farmers. In his new film ‘Mukti’ he takes up this issue which has been taken previously by dozens of filmmakers. But, what’s so different that he has to convey through this film? If you ask him , he suggests you to see his film first.

Made under the banner of Placid Films and produced by Sachin Jankar, the film stars. Nandu Madhav (Harishchandrachi Factory fame), Tejaswini Pandit, Nagesh Bhosale, Milind Shinde, Satish Salagare, Ajay Jadhav amongst others. According to the makers, the film will just make one think before giving away their life. The scenario that when a farmer dies his family gets a compensation from the government has become so common that many farmers commit suicide just for the sake of compensation, which their family would receive to help them survive the after their death. The farmer does not does understand the struggle that his family would have to face after his death.

The movie has tried to show the struggle that Baija (Tejaswini Pandit) and her kids Raghu (Gaurav Kamble) and Ratna (Charvi Sangkholkar) face and what fate delivers them after Bhanudas (Nandu Madhav) the frustrated farmer with heavy debts commits suicide. The movie has been shot in Hinge a village in the district of Satara by Raaja Phadtare behind his camera. “Even if one farmer thinks before ending his life after seeing the movie, we have done our bit” says the serious looking Producer.
